Excellent Addition to any collection
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went back and forth between the Canon 70-200 and the Tamron 70-200 for MONTHS. Reading all sorts of reviews and research on both lens. Both are FABULOUS lenses. I personally didn’t want to spent $2000+ on a lens YET. so I went with the Tamron and I am blow away. Sharp isn’t even a good way to describe it... RAZOR SHARP. Clear images. It is heavy but that’s the only down fall. *pictures are from my first session with it, Downtown Bangor ME.

A lens to make you happy
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Delighted with this overall. Maybe not as sharp as a Canon L glass, but plenty sharp. Much heavier than the old Sigma 70-200 this is replacing, but the Sigma lacked IS. Still I was surprised at the size and weight increase. I am using it with an R5, because I also have a service older Canon DSLR. Still I wish Canon would relent and open the RF mount to Tamron and others.

Amazing lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also looked at the Canon 70-200 F2.8 (because I shoot on Canon) and I found that the Tamron far exceeds the Canon for image quality and built in features like image stabilization. One other very important point is the Tamron can focus on objects or subjects that are only about 5 - 7 feet from the lens, making for some awesome Bokeh in your backgrounds. If you're in the market for this type of lens you will not be disappointed with this one!

Surprised by the quality and price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this lens. I've been using it for a few months now and I am more than pleased by the quality of this lens. I use a crop sensor camera and the sharpness in the photo is outstanding. The only negative critique I have for this lens is that I hate that the focus ring and zoom ring are flipped and that the ring mechanism is the same as nikon. I've gotten used to it, but if Tamron would fix this I would give it a 5/5.

Awesome alternative to the Canon Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally wanted to buy the Canon equivalent but unfortunately it wasnt available. With other alternatives out there, I decided since I had other Tamrons, to give this one a go. I could not have asked for a better lens for the price!! I use it on a Canon 5DmkIV and it works amazing. Very fast focusing and crystal clear images! Highly recommend this lens if you can not afford the Canon! Thanks, Len

so much better than the canon one
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rented the Canon version of this lens prior to purchasing this one and the image quality I get from the Tamron version is unreal. I was floored. Took me a solid month of research to make my decision but I'm happy I went with this lens over the Canon one. Definitely big, definitely heavy but 100% worth it

Q: QuestionIs this compatible with canon dslr apsc cameras ?
Asked by dave.
- A:Answer Yes it is. I purchased this lens for my Canon 70D APS-C camera and have not had any issues. Since you are asking this question I'm assuming that you are like me and not a professional photographer so I wanted to offer some advice. While I am very pleased with this lens I am not sure I would buy it again. This lens is BIG and HEAVY! If you envision purchasing this lens to take to your kids sporting events or going on a hike you are in for a surprise. I typically go to my kids sporting events and sit/stand with my camera in a ready position or even watch some of the game through the lens so I can get pictures. My first outing with this lens was eye opening, I found it was not long before I couldn't physically hold it up any more and I'm a 6' 1" 195lb guy who works out regularly, not a gym rat but no slouch either. I had a monopod that I rarely used before but if I'm taking this lens out the monopod comes with which is an extra piece to think about and carry. On top of that I had to get a new camera bag, my old bag could not fit this lens even when disconnected from the camera. I got a new bag that would work but it was a cheapo, trying to keep costs down because I just bought this expensive lens right, and after a few outings the weight of the lens was causing the bag to rip out at the bottom. So I had to splurge for a $160 bag that I could count on to hold up to packing this lens around. So my advice to you is to consider the f/4 version of the lens (Tamron A034). Or at least use a lens rental place and try the f/2.8 lens out before you buy so you know what you're getting into. I mean as far as performance, image quality, focus speed I couldn't be happier. This is by far the best lens I've purchased and I really don't like using any of my other lenses now which are the Canon 18-135 f/3.5 - 5.6 and 55-210 f/4-5.6. I've attached a few of my favorite shots with this lens. In short I think this is a fantastic lens for studio work which I don't do. As a lens to carry with you not so much. In hind sight I wish I had purchased the f/4 lens, that version is almost 2 pounds lighter and fits in my original camera bag no issues.
