Synopsis

The Collector
After a stint in prison, Arkin (Josh Stewart) finds employment as a handyman. But Arkin decides to rob his boss in order to repay his ex-wife (Daniella Alonso). Venturing to his employer's remote country house to make the heist, he soon finds himself -- as well as the boss' family -- at the mercy of "The Collector." This masked menace turns the house into a maze of fiendish traps. Only Arkin's wits offer any hope of escape from gruesome death. This bloody, visceral entry in the "torture porn" genre is the directorial debut of screenwriter Marcus Dunstan, whose previous credits include Feast and Saw IV. ~ Robert Silva, Rovi

This is a brilliant horror film!!!

My wife and I saw this in the theater and were blown away! We couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD/Blu-ray so we could watch it again, and it was just as good the second time. My wife and I are huge horror collectors, (no pun intended). Out of a DVD/Blu-ray collection of roughly 2,500, about 1,200 to 1,500 are of the horror/thriller/sci-fi genre. That said, this is one of the best, most original horror films to come out in some time. It's kind of a mix between Anamorph and the Saw films, but unique in its own way. I believe it didn't get as much recognition at the time of its theatrical release because it was competing with films like Halloween II and SawVI. Actually, this film was done by the same writers that did Saw IV, V, and VI. So, if you're a fan of the Saw films as we are, or just love a good twisted horror film that makes you think, you'll love this movie. Also, the soundtrack is fantastic! To me, having good background music adds to the quality and intensity of the film. I highly recommend it!!!

I bought this movie for my halloween movie "marathon". I figured it would be just your average run of the mill cheesy, gorefest movie with no name actors. But, I was pleasantly surprised with this little gem! It draws you in and won't let go. The actors did a good job, and there was some gore. But, I would consider this more of a thriller. The only thing that bothered me, was that the ending never tied up all the loose ends in the story. It keeps you wondering how everything plays out and you are left with alot of questions. If you are in the market for something that will keep you on the edge of your seat, check out The Collector.

I got this because it had Josh Stewart in it and I liked him in other stuff I've seen him in. This movie (and it's sequel 'the Collection') are somewhat reminiscent of the Saw franchise but not on quite the same level. This is a little more low budget. The plot line is loose and there are holes in it. On the other hand the bad guy is just bad, he does what he does because he likes it not because he is trying to teach anyone anything. Read the outside of the box and this film is basically what you see is what you get. Don't expect a lot out of it and you'll enjoy it well enough.

I was surprised at how much I liked this movie. It actually makes you think a little bit and keeps you guessing and has twists and turns that aren't transparent. Considering it is a horror flick, that makes this an above average movie because more often than not, scary movies are predictable, repetitive and contain buckets of blood just because. The Collector, has a good deal of violence, but it makes sense for the story as it is actually a plot driven movie that you have to pay attention to, so you know what is going on. Very entertaining and innovative movie, that I really enjoyed.

I wasn't completely impressed with this movie overall. The movie would of been extremely GOOD if it ended on a good note. In my opinion we Need more happier ending movies. The way it did end completed stunk. But there is a part 2 isn't there? And that awful blue cast throughout the movie, yuck. Not all was bad, the gore was good, the main story line was good and the main actor, I like him. One more thing, what kind of EMS person doesn't put a neck brace on a person who just got hit by a car? Duh. Dumb writers

Not the worst movie but far from the best. Total SAW ripoff but without any real story to back the killers motive. Every great horror monster / killer had a great "reason" for the action. Jason, Freddy, Jigsaw, Halloween and others. The Collector cant hang with these guys. I will commend the cinematography. It was great. Also the music was done well and the sound is on point. Too bad this movie falls short though. It could have been legendary if it wasn't so laughable and unbelievable at times. Worth a watch but not a classic.

Being that this movie was made by the writers of some of the Saw movies, I loved the traps and gore of the movie. Josh Stewart is great as Arkin, loved him since he was on No Ordinary Family. This is a movie that will fit well in your movie collection whether you are a horror fan or not. I did wish there was more of a back story as to why the Collector is killing people though. But fortunately there is a sequel, The Collection, so maybe it will tie up some of the loose ends.

This movie scaried the .... out of me!!!!! This is definitely a scary movie I would recommend to people! It didnt get as much attention as other horror movies, like it should've. The death scenes are awesome!!!!! There were just a few things I didn't understand like the spiders in certain scenes and why the collector's eyes glowed........... But overall a good horror flick.
