Definitive release of this '80s classic!
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friend'The Last Starfighter' ('84) is an age and era defining classic. Possibly the zenith of post-Star Wars sci-fi before the decade began moving away from this kind of sincere, fantasy adventure. I adore every aspect of this film from the early '80s setting, the thrill of cabinet arcade games, the "call to adventure," Catherine Mary Stewart in pig tails, robot clones, intergalactic bounty hunters, Craig Safan's powerhouse film score, to the cutting edge early CGI. It's all awesome to me! Arrow Video does it again by releasing this definitive 4k transfer of director Nick Castles classic film. The video quality is incredible with great shadow contrast, rich detail and a warm cinematic feel with film grain intact. The audio is fantastic with three options (5.1, 4.1 and original 2.0). Plus packed with several special features and gorgeous new packaging. For any true fan of this movie this release from Arrow is a must have. No question. This is the best the film has ever looked. Highly recommended!

Classic video game themed film.
|Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendAnother classic film that was one of the early examples of CGI effects. When they do use them it is impressive for that time decades ago. It just has that video game feel to it. It gets exciting and just gives you that feeling that anyone could be the lead in this film since the the premise is so surprising and cool. Arrow finally has given it the proper restoration and you get a huge set of bonus features. Video and audio are both very good.

Classic
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Really great movie, one of the all-time greats. Hard to find movies like these today. The acting to the action was really nice, watched twice before the week was over. Couldn't be more pleased with this purchase!

The Last Starfighter 25th Anniversary Edition
|Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed. An absolute classic! My wife and I saw it in the theaters when it first came out all those many years ago. Loved it then, love it now! Great sci fi and terrific story telling put together. You get to love the characters and root for them as the movie goes on. So glad they did a reissue for the 25th Anniversary. Just one of those movies you can watch with the whole family and thoroughly enjoy!

Classic!
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I was able to share this movie with my kids after loving it as a teenager! The CGI by today’s standards is more like that found in a cinematic (or pre-render) that Director’s use, but the story is awesome! :) THE Blu-Ray is OK with not a lot of extras, tho.

A classic. Groundbreaking.
|Posted .Nostalgic for childhood memories? A simpler time? A tried and true story? Look no further! First feature film to use computer imagery instead of models for its visual effects (movies previously only used computer graphics to represent computer graphics). Oh and the theme is so epic! After hearing it I feel like I could take on the entire Ko-Dan Armada myself! Enjoyed the "Heroes of the Screen" retrospective that lets you see some of the cast and crew look back on the film. Wish this movie would get the 4k UHD treatment, but I doubt that'll ever happen. This is the next best thing though. A no-brainer at $6.
