    Synopsis

    The Spirit
A resurrected cop does battle with a villain whose quest for immortality threatens an entire metropolis in Sin City creator Frank Miller's adaptation of Will Eisner's acclaimed graphic novel. When a rookie cop is brutally killed and mysteriously brought back to life, he assumes the guise of The Spirit (Gabriel Macht) -- a masked crime fighter who prowls the shadows of Central City on a supernatural mission to keep the urban landscape safe. Upon discovering that his arch nemesis, The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson), is determined to live forever even if it means wiping out the entire population of Central City, The Spirit must race to stop the diabolical villain from achieving his cold-blooded plan. But even with his unique powers, the brave masked crusader will face a series of deadly challenges as a bevy of treacherous beauties including deceptively sweet girl next door Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson), spitfire secretary Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson), wraithlike siren Lorelei (Jaime King), seductive policewoman Morgenstern (Stana Katic), and French black widow Plaster of Paris (Paz Vega) set out to seduce or consume him at every turn; even The Spirit's one true love, a volatile jewel thief named Sand Saref (Eva Mendes), could ultimately destroy our hero before he accomplishes his mission of saving Central City. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I've read and heard a lot of mixed reviews about this movie. Some people loved it, others hated it. All I can say is, my wife and I saw it in the theater and loved it! If you're a fan of Frank Miller's work, graphic novels and movies, then I think you'll love this movie. It's not as good as Sin City or 300, but it's still good. It's also meant to be an action/comedy, which is why I think a lot of people didn't like it or understand it. Samuel Jackson was hilarious. This movie's not as dark as some of his other movies. If you go into it with that perspective, and watch it for what it is, (an action/comedy,) then I think you'll like it, especially if you're a Samuel Jackson fan, like we are. So, I recommend it and hope this review was helpful.

This movie is terrible. First of all the camera work is awful. You can't even tell what's going on half the time because the screen is constantly dark. The acting is pretty bad too. Samuel L. Jackson is a great actor but this movie makes him look like the worst actor ever. The dialouge is very cheesy and it feels as though it were written by a 6 year old. At times the action can be so bad that it becomes comical. Not a good movie at all. Not even worth thinking about watching.

i had to rewind the first part like 3 times to try to understand it (and i still don't think i do). the whole thing made no sense! a whole lot of nothing is what you take away from this movie. the movie was random useless plot pieces just tossed together. looks like they were hoping big name actor would mean a good movie and there was not one good part played in this whole thing. don't waste time or money on this.

I liked this movie a lot, it reminded me a lot of Frank Miller's other movie Sin City. This movie was under-rated and I didn't want to give it a chance because of the bad ratings but when I watched it I really liked it. You can't beat Eva Mendes and Scarlet Johansen both being in a movie together and both looking hot as ever.

Good movie, I liked it a lot, it had its funny moments, and the dialog was hilarious. The visuals were amazing, i loved "Sin City" and this is just like it, it's just like a graphic novel and it helped that The Octopus's henchmen were so dumb, i just couldn't stop laughing at them

The imagery in this movie was outstanding and it had great actors, it is unfortunate that the storyline never really came together.

The original "Sin City" was a much better movie. The Spirit had very graphic animated violence, but lacked the substance of the first movie.
