This is an outstanding movie! This movie tells the astonishing tale of Thor, one of Marvel's greatest heroes. It starts off in Asgard, home of the Norse Gods, where it shows Thor as a courageous, yet arrogant and impulsive, warrior. He is then banished to a small town in New Mexico to learn humility. Thor eventually learns what it means to be a true hero. The visual effects are awesome and truly shine in the HD transfer. The scenes in Asgard are so beautiful you could frame them and hang them in art galleries. I loved the Destroyer, it looks just like something Jack Kirby himself would draw, in fact the entire look of the film is very faithful to what the King of Comics drew. The blending of CGI and live action is seamless, you can't tell where one ends and the other begins. All this in a flawless Blu-Ray transfer. The HD picture looks tremendous and sounds great. The acting is quite good. Chris Helmsworth does a good job as Thor and Anthony Hopkins is phenominal as Odin. Both turn in fine performances. Stann Lee puts in a cameo as 'Stan the Man'. The story is very faithful to the Marvel comics version of Norse mythology. This version follows Norse mythology pretty well, but with a few twists courtesy of Stan Lee. J. Michael Strazcynski #creator of Babylon 5# writes a screenplay that does a good job of bringing Stan Lee's creations to the big screen and Kenneth Branaugh does a superb job directing this movie. Thor leads in very well to the upcoming 'Avengers' movie, and even has an Iron Man reference. For fantasy, action or Marvel comics fans, this movie comes very highly recommended. A truly exciting High-Def movie. 'Nuff said?

There is alot in common with the Norse myth and the movie. But it also stays true to the comic- example being the Asgardian Goddess Sif is not Thor's love interest/wife she is one of his best friends, he instead falls for a lovely mortal by the name of Jane Foster an astrophysicist. There are many amusing one-liners. And the supporting cast is awesome as well as Chris Hemsworth who looks like he was built to play the God and wield the Hammer. His Brother Loki the God of Mischief is played very well by Tom Hiddleston ( Both play a role in The Avengers). Their father Odin is played by non other than Sir. Anthony Hopkins himself ( yeah Hannibal Lecter without the creepiness.) and I dont need to tell you he plays Odin with great range and depth. I will end this with my fav. line from the movie. " What is this some kind of Renaissance Festival? UH? Sir we have a situation, Xena, Robin Hood and Jackie Chan are in town"-something of the sorts.

The film opens in a realm and/or planet far removed from Earth and human existence. We’re given a brief overview of the major events in its history and then we’re introduced to its royal family battlefield conqueror, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth). After disobeying his father, Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins) he is banished to Earth and stripped of his godlike abilities. Enter Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). While studying anomalous events in the atmosphere under the guidance of her mentor Erik Selwig (Stellan Skarsgard) and with the not-so-able assistance of Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), she bears witness to Thor’s banishment or rather the tornado-like occurrence that made it possible. This intrigues Foster and after a brief period of reticence she hopes to offer help to Thor and, at the same time, elicit any information he might have that could help her in her work. All the while, turmoil in Thor’s realm could potentially destroy both it and Earth. I’d not seen Hemsworth before and while the part requires very little beyond physicality, he is adequate at least. The “earthlings”, are good enough as are those from Thor’s home planet and the story is about what I expect. It’s not amazing, it’s not awful. Basically, it’s just a good time at the movies.

Thor is an exquisite film. I thought it was smart, well written, visually stunning, very well directed, and struck just the right tone for the material. There’s really no other movie you can compare this one too. It’s part psychodrama that explores the depth of human relationships but still delivers great action. It also gives us a human element to which most anyone should be able to relate. This movie really is exceptional. From the epic opening set on Asgard, to the awesome battle with the Destroyer back on Earth, Thor is filled with plenty of action, a compelling story and some superb direction from Branagh. Yes, I said superb. Everything I wanted in a film such as this and, actually, quite a bit more.

At first when I saw the trailer of THOR I thought, "im not going to see this movie", but later it started pulling me in with its plot which really got me thinking a lot about this movie. When I heard Anthony Hopkins was playing ODIN well there was no one better for the job. Chris Hemsworth takes THOR and brings him to life with his brilliant acting.Natalie Portman as JANE FOSTER is the HOTTEST 'AVENGERS' girlfriend ever, well done. I saw THOR in 3D in theathers but got it on 2D Blu-Ray because I don't feel like watching it in 3D again. I can't wait to see THOR in 'THE AVENGERS", even thought IRON MAN is my favorite AVENGER. I have IRON MAN 1 and 2, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, and THOR, just need CAPTAIN AMERICA which comes out on October 25. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE AVENGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a little suprised when I finally watched Thor in 3D. I'm not a comic junkie so I wasn't expecting much out of the plot or the characters. As with 90% of the films available in 3D, I'm mainly looking for the 3D experience. Thor, as a movie experience, actually turned out to be pretty enjoyable for me. Unfortunately, the 3D aspect had the opposite effect. I'm suprised at how little of a presence 3D effects had in this movie, considering how much of it was made with CG. About 70% of the movie has that extra sense of depth, but there are only a few really good 3D moments. All in all, I feel Thor is one of the better superhero movies made by Marvel. Even though they should have done more with 3D, I will still watch it again. Film Experience: 4 of 5 3D Experience: 3 of 5

I really liked this movie a lot~! I loved the complexity of Thor, Loki and Odin's relationship. It's just as complicated as anyone else's family, and it humanizes these characters that are really easy to see as God-like or inhuman. My one issue with it is that I feel like they could've built a little more on Jane and Thor's relationship. It felt like there was a bit of a jump forward in their feelings for each other, which didn't seem believable to me. That could just be a byproduct of me being a lover of Rom-Com's, and expecting romance in other movies to follow that same formula. Which it doesn't always do. They are cute together though, and watching Thor: The Dark World helped to solidify their relationship. I just feel like it could've been built up a bit stronger.

I'm going to focus primarily on the 3D aspect of the movie since the movie is good and has been reviewed elsewhere. My short review of the movie is that it's very well done though it feels like it has a bit of a split personality. The scenes on Asgard feel like they're trying to be Shakespeare while the scenes on earth have more of an action film feel. The makes sense since Kenneth Branagh directed it, part of the reason why I think the movie is very good. The 3D is very well done in the movie. The scenes on their own are breathtaking when watching the film, but the 3D really enhances the experience. That can't be said of all 3D movies, but in this case, it really does help Asgard and the distant realms feel really special. If you have a 3D tv and you're debating whether to get this 3D movie for your collection, I highly recommend it.
