Good overall laptop minus trackpad
Posted .Overview of the Toshiba Radius 12.5 4k Edition: Good: 1. Technicolor Certified 2. 4K Screen 3. Intel i7 processor + SSD Bad: 1. Trackpad 2. Trackpad 3. Resizing/viewing on 4K resolution There are many laptops out there, but few can actually command 4K resolution let alone have the option to go from "technicolor" to "Adobe RGB". Having a laptop that is technicolor certification ensures that when you play around with your pictures they are indeed the way you should see it. This eliminates error in corrections of photos and when process...you will have good photos going out. When looking at many things from photos to videos. They tend to stand out or rather pop out. It's gorgeous ...there isn't much words for me to use other than just a gorgeous screen. However there is a real downside to this gorgeous screen that many people are unaware of and that is the downsizing and scaling of other icons and applications. For those that doesn't understand what this mean, it means when you install a problem, the icon or the application window of the program that you intend to run can be small or perhaps on many occasions very small causing frustration on your behalf. This can be fix by reverting or changing the current resolution down to 1920X1080. This should be more compatible with most program and less of a headache on your part. Moving on, having an Intel i7 processor and a solid SSD drive do make a difference. If you haven't already experience what SSD can offer. This will give you a noticeable change that you can really feel and see. Now, lets go to the bad side of this laptop and probably the one and main reason why many people are choosing to return their laptop due to frustration of the trackpad. I don't really know what to tell you here. I'm currently dealing with this problem until Toshiba can come up with some sort of solution either be driver update or discount (not going to happen). The trackpad is indeed the worst design...maybe along the way, the group had a pizza break and forgot all about it. As a result, the trackpad is next to useless. This problem can be easily overcome by using a fantastic cheap wireless mouse (MICROSOFT 3500). I highly recommend getting the wireless mouse as it will save you a great great deal of headache. In the end, its really one flaw that I can see for this laptop...a big one but also at the same time a minor issue because the wireless mouse easily overcomes this issue. Everything else about the laptop is quite charming. The battery is one that differs with users. Power users cry foul when the laptop doesn't meet 7 hours of usage. Again...most people are usually away from a power source for too long. Yes, it will easily get you through a class or two in my opinion. On power saving mode, I can still run my usual application with an average batter life of 5.5 hours. This isn't bad at all considering that this is a 4k monitor afterall. You can downgrade to the 1080 version of this laptop but then by gaining 2 extra of battery life for non-corrected screen and from other reviews...tends to be luke warm. No thanks...even from my own personal usage. I'm usually away from a powersource for no longer than 4-5 hours when actually using the laptop. Conservative users will demand that the laptop be in the 10hour range considering what dell and apple has to offer. Then again, at some point even they cut cost. I did not make the move to a MacBook pro because for the cost its just way too expensive and very little things are compatible for me since I consider myself somewhat of a power user. In the end, this laptop is more geared towards photographers/students/movie enthusiasts. Again, if you can deal with using a wireless mouse (Microsoft 3500 series) most of the time. The laptop does really perform. Watching 4k video is really something even on a small screen such as this one. P.S. Yes, my cheap $250 Lenovo had a batter trackpad but in no way is it as near capable as this laptop in terms of everything. Heck, it was advertised for 6 hours of usage but in real life...I barely managed 1.3 hours and that's on battery saver mode.

A extremely excellent laptop but,.........
Posted .So I read a lot of the reviews and a lot of them had some pretty negitive things to say. I will say that theres some down sides to this laptop but, nothing of note worthy mention. This laptops main competition would be a Macbook Air or a Acer s7. So first off the thing you'll notice over most of its competition is that its vastly slimmer and much lighter than the others. It features a high end premium look and feel just like a mac, acer s7 or the new HP spectra series laptops. With its odd size of 12.5 inches I feel like its perfect. Ive always preferred the smaller 10" laptops so the smaller the better for me. However this is larger without feeling bulky. I really feel like once you hit 13.3" you're getting to big for portability. The big draw here is the 4k screen. This is a double edge sword. The screen looks absolutely stunning. However you're instantly gonna notice that there needs to be tweeting to ones eyes for everything. The resolution is so high that a lot of things become unreadable. You'll also notice when you try gaming ( which this isnt a gaming laptop by any means ) that you'll run into a lot of issues running things in 4k. Theres simply not much support in 4k yet. A lot of times things just dont work. You'll almost always have to go into the properities of the .exe file and turn off dpi scaling. Youtube 4k playback is great however you'll need a very fast connection to be able to stream 4k content. Netflix and hulu havent updated to support 4k on a laptop or desktop pc yet either so no 4k there. Now heres the bad thing. Toshiba is having a seriously hard time on quality control with this things. If you buy one know that you might need to return it. You could get one thats broken right away. Dont fret once you get one that works it works and theres no issue. Second driver support. If you use Microsoft Edge for your browser except to experience crashing of the laptop. The video card drivers and Microsoft edge are very conflicting. You can almost instantly and 100% of the time crash the edge browser by reading youtube comment if you've got a google account. I've had no issue in Internet explorer or the Maxthon(very under rated browser thats super popular in china) browser I use. The over all performance and speed of the laptop is great and a very good value for its cost. Im 100% satisfied with my product and would recommend it to anyone with 1 exception. If you're not about bleeding edge technology and you're not a person who's at least moderately tech savy this isnt your pc. New cutting edge products always have the most bugs and will take time to get around on the software side of things.

Great 4K laptop with a few flaws
||Posted .I have been looking for an affordable 4K laptop to manage my lifetime collection of photos. The display is stunning, particularly the.Technicolor calibration. The features and current price at. Best Buy cannot be beat. Unfortunately it comes preloaded with bloatware, the worst of.which is Symantec, which proceeds to suck up to 100% of the nice I7 processor. Delete it and use Microsoft Defender, which is much better behaved The keyboard and touchpad are adequate but could be better..

Super Fast, portable and sturdy
||Posted .Pros: Boots up in seconds; super fast response. Crystal clear display. Sturdy metal case, easy to clean screen. 4K videos of day time subjects are beautiful and vivid. Cons: 1.Touchpad is way too sensitive; seems like just breathing on it will cause response; have to disable when typing emails or Word Docs. 2. Screen display has heavy pixilation in video playback of night scenery and dark black objects; No display adjustments help. 3. No ethernet connection.

Great Display, Better Keyboard, 1 Bad Problem
||Posted .I loved the size, feel, and shape of this new Toshiba and in fact it had a great display on it. The Keyboard was one of the best among Windows Laptops and the size was perfect for a great 2 in 1. Given it's price point it presented a great alternative to the Microsoft SurfaceBook or the Surface Pro 4. There was just one, well two problems to mention. First the minor problem - Battery life could be better but then what laptop computer, other than Apple's MacBook Air couldn't ? Second - the major problem that caused me to return it. The Trackpad/Mouse has an inherent problem and should have been caught before this model was introduced to the public. You could be working in a problem, surfing in a browser and all of a sudden the mouse/trackpad would just stop responding. I mean it would just stop all together with no notice. Worse at times, while stopped, it would jump around the screen and often even act as if you clicked on something where it happened to land causing you other difficulties. Often toggling the Trackpad on/off would work but usually you would have to rebook or reset the computer before it would start working again. IF or when Toshiba fixes this problem this computer would be my #1 Choice for a Windows alternative to the MacBook Air series or a 2 in 1 Windows 10 Computer. As it is I've purchased a Lenovo YOGA 900 and while I don't have the keyboard problem with it and it is a nice sized computer itself I still would prefer the Toshiba Satellite 4K over it. One caveat with that statement. I can't or couldn't get the 512GB Drive in the Toshiba that I could in the Lenovo so the Lenovo still has that over the Toshiba but the overall deciding factor was that horrible trackpad/mouse issue, it was enough to cause me to return it.

Posted .Thank you for the review, GaryK and sorry to hear that you encountered mouse and battery issue with your Satellite P25W-C2300-4K.
I understand that you already returned the product but for future reference and for the benefit of other Toshiba laptop users reading this review who might need help with a similar issue, the touchpad can be toggled OFF and ON by pressing the F5 function key. If the key is inadvertently pressed, it will disable the touchpad, potential giving the impression that it isn't working. Try pressing the F5 key to see if that restores the touchpad function. (To use the legacy F5 function, press and hold down the 'Fn' key while tapping the F5 key.)
Beyond that potential cause of difficulty, if any given unit has a touchpad defect Toshiba would be happy to repair that under warranty. Initiating that process is done by contacting Toshiba support at 800-457-7777.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Decent Laptop for the price
||Posted .I wanted a Laptop to be able to do everything I needed and be small enough to be portable. This went on sale when I was looking and I got it. Nice resolution of course and so far really quick. My only complaint so far is that it seems that Toshiba firmware will not support Alternate Mode for the USB 3.1 port, so I cannot use that for another monitor. It does have one HDMI port but am disappointed with the lack of support and that Toshiba does not respond to my questions so far.

Toshiba Blew it!
||Posted .I bought this computer out of desperation due to fact that my other computer was stolen. When I got it home everything seemed great. It was fast, easy to set up. But..... I was using it as a desktop with Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and desktop monitor for the first 4 months. Then I decided to start taking it with me on trips and I had a very difficult time using the tracking pad. I thought it was me at first. But it soon became clear that the tracking pad was useless. I even went to my local BB to check a floor model. It had the same problem. Then looking online I found many other people with the same issues. So what good is a laptop that requires you to bring an external mouse and keyboard all of the time? I was not able to immediately give up my computer for warranty repair because of all of my work documents that were on it. Finally I contacted Toshiba and they set up the process to send it back for repairs. They fixed it and it works fine now as it should have from the beginning. Then I discover that Toshiba is out of the laptop business. I have owned at least 3 other Toshiba laptops over the years and they have all been great. What is up?

4 and a half stars
||Posted .Good PC overall and surprisingly good with Windoze 10 out of the box as i removed as much communications back to the mother ship as i could when setting up. Not too much bloatware either. The SSD hardware does indeed speed up boot and wake up functions. The 4k monitor and graphics card is super clear and looking around for more 4k content which is coming more available. The half star off is for heat and fan noise which with quiet SSD makes it appear more noisy but i guess its not really with no hard drive noise additive. The laptop still gets pretty warm tho... But for our usage its only sometimes portable and mostly docked and used via 1080p TV monitor (wish i had a small form factor 4k monitor...lol) and wireless kybd/mouse so not really much of a factor. Time will tell about lifespan snd durability of the unit. Really like the fact its got latest gen i7 CPU.... Anyway, overall i would recommend even with the shortcomings.

I have found there are three main things is nearly impossible to upgrade in today's laptops are the processor, RAM memory and built-on display screen. Hard drives are still upgradable from the ones I have recently purchased.
