Great Display, Better Keyboard, 1 Bad Problem

I loved the size, feel, and shape of this new Toshiba and in fact it had a great display on it. The Keyboard was one of the best among Windows Laptops and the size was perfect for a great 2 in 1. Given it's price point it presented a great alternative to the Microsoft SurfaceBook or the Surface Pro 4. There was just one, well two problems to mention.
First the minor problem - Battery life could be better but then what laptop computer, other than Apple's MacBook Air couldn't ? Second - the major problem that caused me to return it. The Trackpad/Mouse has an inherent problem and should have been caught before this model was introduced to the public. You could be working in a problem, surfing in a browser and all of a sudden the mouse/trackpad would just stop responding. I mean it would just stop all together with no notice. Worse at times, while stopped, it would jump around the screen and often even act as if you clicked on something where it happened to land causing you other difficulties.
Often toggling the Trackpad on/off would work but usually you would have to rebook or reset the computer before it would start working again. IF or when Toshiba fixes this problem this computer would be my #1 Choice for a Windows alternative to the MacBook Air series or a 2 in 1 Windows 10 Computer.
As it is I've purchased a Lenovo YOGA 900 and while I don't have the keyboard problem with it and it is a nice sized computer itself I still would prefer the Toshiba Satellite 4K over it. One caveat with that statement. I can't or couldn't get the 512GB Drive in the Toshiba that I could in the Lenovo so the Lenovo still has that over the Toshiba but the overall deciding factor was that horrible trackpad/mouse issue, it was enough to cause me to return it.

Brand response from ToshibaStaff

Thank you for the review, GaryK and sorry to hear that you encountered mouse and battery issue with your Satellite P25W-C2300-4K.
I understand that you already returned the product but for future reference and for the benefit of other Toshiba laptop users reading this review who might need help with a similar issue, the touchpad can be toggled OFF and ON by pressing the F5 function key. If the key is inadvertently pressed, it will disable the touchpad, potential giving the impression that it isn't working. Try pressing the F5 key to see if that restores the touchpad function. (To use the legacy F5 function, press and hold down the 'Fn' key while tapping the F5 key.)
Beyond that potential cause of difficulty, if any given unit has a touchpad defect Toshiba would be happy to repair that under warranty. Initiating that process is done by contacting Toshiba support at 800-457-7777.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Pros: Boots up in seconds; super fast response. Crystal clear display. Sturdy metal case, easy to clean screen. 4K videos of day time subjects are beautiful and vivid.
Cons: 1.Touchpad is way too sensitive; seems like just breathing on it will cause response; have to disable when typing emails or Word Docs. 2. Screen display has heavy pixilation in video playback of night scenery and dark black objects; No display adjustments help. 3. No ethernet connection.

Good PC overall and surprisingly good with Windoze 10 out of the box as i removed as much communications back to the mother ship as i could when setting up. Not too much bloatware either. The SSD hardware does indeed speed up boot and wake up functions. The 4k monitor and graphics card is super clear and looking around for more 4k content which is coming more available. The half star off is for heat and fan noise which with quiet SSD makes it appear more noisy but i guess its not really with no hard drive noise additive. The laptop still gets pretty warm tho... But for our usage its only sometimes portable and mostly docked and used via 1080p TV monitor (wish i had a small form factor 4k monitor...lol) and wireless kybd/mouse so not really much of a factor. Time will tell about lifespan snd durability of the unit. Really like the fact its got latest gen i7 CPU.... Anyway, overall i would recommend even with the shortcomings.

I wanted a Laptop to be able to do everything I needed and be small enough to be portable. This went on sale when I was looking and I got it. Nice resolution of course and so far really quick. My only complaint so far is that it seems that Toshiba firmware will not support Alternate Mode for the USB 3.1 port, so I cannot use that for another monitor. It does have one HDMI port but am disappointed with the lack of support and that Toshiba does not respond to my questions so far.

I like the speed, storage, size and versatility of this two-in-one, but have a little trouble with use of external display, some programs windows wanting to open too small on built-in display, and worst of all: the touchpad is very sporadic. I have to do everything using the touch screen, which can be difficult on some programs because of small display, or attach an external mouse. Very frustrating.

This little machine is packed with all of today's tech! Its the reason I chose it.
Has Intel Skylake i7 processor, M.2 2280 SSD, 4k display that looks amazing when set to Adobe RGB, and Windows Hello!
So far I found the SSD is upgradable to the Samsung PRO, but the memory is not.
Only complaints I have are the display rocks when you tap the touch screen in regular laptop mode. Also, the touch-pad is the worst design ever! Very difficult to right click and click and drag. I highly recommend purchasing a Bluetooth mouse (Surface Pro Mouse).

I bought one of these laptops and absolutely loved it - it was super fast, light, and I loved the flip to tablet function. But, after about two days of use the touch pad stopped working. I went back to Best Buy and they exchanged it for a new one. A few days later, the same thing happened to that touch pad. I ended up exchanging it for a Lenovo.

Everything is good except the mouse pad. You have to buy a mouse with this laptop. It skips out and youre basically stuck without an actua mouse.

Overall I like the computer. I'd say 3.5 stars out of 5, but I had to go with a full star on this website, thus 4 out of 5. The battery life is the only thing lacking for me. I read reviews about it that said 4-6 hours, but I usually only get 3 hours. The computer also gets very warm, I assume since it is discharging so much battery in a short period of time. The touch screen works great and the track pad is fine. Windows 10 is an improvement for me since I have been using Windows 7. Because of the battery life I wouldn't recommend this to others. That was a big feature I wanted and I should have looked elsewhere.

I have been looking for an affordable 4K laptop to manage my lifetime collection of photos. The display is stunning, particularly the.Technicolor calibration. The features and current price at. Best Buy cannot be beat.
Unfortunately it comes preloaded with bloatware, the worst of.which is Symantec, which proceeds to suck up to 100% of the nice I7 processor. Delete it and use Microsoft Defender, which is much better behaved
The keyboard and touchpad are adequate but could be better..

I was looking for a powerful small lightweight computer and this fits the bill. The fan noise makes a cheap variable sound that can be annoying. Overall the touch screen is good and the ports are satisfactory. The price was okay we comparable features, paid about $850. I am not sure the super High resolution is needed on such a small display.

i purchased this for work and travel. The lightness make it ideal for the briefcase. It is fast and efficient. And the 4K screen is amazing. However even though it is a SSD it is very loud when the fan is running.

I bought this computer out of desperation due to fact that my other computer was stolen. When I got it home everything seemed great. It was fast, easy to set up. But..... I was using it as a desktop with Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and desktop monitor for the first 4 months. Then I decided to start taking it with me on trips and I had a very difficult time using the tracking pad. I thought it was me at first. But it soon became clear that the tracking pad was useless. I even went to my local BB to check a floor model. It had the same problem. Then looking online I found many other people with the same issues. So what good is a laptop that requires you to bring an external mouse and keyboard all of the time? I was not able to immediately give up my computer for warranty repair because of all of my work documents that were on it. Finally I contacted Toshiba and they set up the process to send it back for repairs. They fixed it and it works fine now as it should have from the beginning. Then I discover that Toshiba is out of the laptop business. I have owned at least 3 other Toshiba laptops over the years and they have all been great. What is up?

I looked at the MS Surface and similar "high end" (I7, SSD, high res) notebook/laptop/2-in-1s and found the price point on the Toshiba Radius (at Best Buy) to be the best deal. The screen resolution is incredible and the color presentation is the best. The performance between the processor, RAM (8 GB), and SSD (256 GB)) -- are all stellar. I am also impressed by the size and weight. Absolutely no complaints about the battery -- 5-7 hours easy. One of my uses for this machine is to teach -- hooking up to projection systems, accessing Office apps for lectures, and doing demos (software, web apps, etc.) -- this has performed above my expectations.

I've been using this laptop for about two months now. It runs great and a very WiFi. The only problem that I have run into is trying to connect the HDMI output to a Samsung LED TV. For some reason the output doesn't display on the TV. I'm sure it is just an issue with a driver or possibly not having the right HDMI cable. I'm sure I'll get it figured out.
