Q: QuestionIs this compatible with other routers? How about an eero router?(4 answers)
A: AnswerThe previous answer is incorrect. Like other “Range Extenders” this will theoretically work as such with any other brand Wi-Fi. It is only limited to TP-Link OneMesh routers when in use as a “Mesh Node”.Answered by mjmj
Q: QuestionWill this extender work with the XE5300/AXE5300 mesh hardware?(2 answers)
A: AnswerNo, in a way that is beneficial. The extender can be connected to a Deco system but it would not be part of the Mesh network. It would be a seperate AP and act as such. If you are looking at the need to extend a Deco system I would recommend just adding another Deco.Answered by TPLinkSupport
Q: QuestionCan this extend the 6E signal?(2 answers)
A: AnswerYes. Just don't put it too far away from the other router, the signal strength between the two routes determines how good of a connection you'll get to any devices that you try to use with the extended network, like a weak link.Answered by ark4peace

- A: AnswerYes it can act as a WiFi bridge, it will pickup your existing connection and broadcast it as a new SSID for you to connect your wireless devices. The ethernet port will also work to connect your PC.

Decent but needs firmware updates
This is a solid range extender, although I do find that the mesh capability is a bit slow when handing off your signal from one unit to another. The range is also not very excellent, especially since I recommend lowering the broadcast power to the lowest setting to prevent the unit from overheating. If you keep it on the lowest setting and place it in a good location, everything will work fine. It likely needs additional firmware updates to get the best results.

My old Linksys was better
I got this product in July 2024 to replace my five year old linksys extender. I read really good reviews about this product and I wanted to upgrade so I bought it. I place it exactly in the old spot as the older one. Easy set up and connection to my Wi-Fi router was 100 percent. However, it didn't provide any better connection to my smart TVs, computer or smart voice radio. It gets disconnected most of the day and I have to unplug and connect again to the power outlet. I can't depend on this extender to have a zoom meeting because it doesn't provide fast enough downloads or uploads. I would return it if I could and buy another Linksys system.

WiFi 6E + OneMesh = Fast and Flexible
Impressive speeds, but be sure to note that 6GHz naturally cannot travel as far 5GHz (which already has less range than 2.4GHz). If you want to ensure that you are leveraging the 6GHz channel as a backhaul for OneMesh, then make sure you check the Tether app to confirm the PHY speeds your getting on the 6GHz channel and move the extender a bit closer to optimize performance if necessary. Using an AXE5400 wifi card, I’m seeing speeds in excess of 1Gb/s when accessing an NVMe SSD connected via a USB adapter directly linked to my router. At most I’ve seen 1.2Gb/s through 5GHz at 30-40 feet away through a floor. My iPhone 13 Pro Max maxes (ba-dum-tisss) out at around 800Mb/s with this new setup, but expect a bit less under realistic conditions. I’m using a TP-Link AXE300 router with 3 of these extenders and the lowest speeds I’m seeing indoors ranges from 200-350MB/s. My house has thick stone walls that transition into wooden siding above the stone, but the wooden siding has metal sheeting under it. With that said, I will not comment on outdoor performance as my house is essentially a faraday cage that wifi cannot escape and cell service cannot enter. The good news is that the AXE300 router and these extenders support OneMesh, so the TP-Link PowerLine WiFi extender that I already have still integrates seamlessly with this setup and allows me to have usable WiFi outdoors.
