Writer-director Stephen Susco’s sequel to 2014 desktop thriller Unfriended stays true to the genre. A group of young adults who convene on Skype for a weekly board-game night are terrorized online by a group of mysterious hackers after one of them steals a laptop filled with snuff films and decides to pilfer $10 million worth of Bitcoin.~Augustine Chay
This film is incredibly realistic and eye opening for anyone who doesn't understand the kind of stuff that lies on the Dark Web. There's a dark underbelly to society and this film explores just how widespread and connected it is to our mindless lives. It touches on the kind of disturbing horror that many of us would prefer to not acknowledge that is very real and happening every day. If you're easily frightened by the truth and would rather stay informed about what's really going on out there, then this film is certainly not for you. But if you're a fan of horror that could very easily translate into real life, then I cannot recommend this film highly enough. It certainly felt like a completely different film than the first and should not have been labeled a sequel to Unfriended, which was a paranormal trope of cliches. Give it a watch, and inform yourself on the terrifying truth of the Dark Web.
