The Pefect Carry On Luggage
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Measuring 13.8” w x 21.7”h x 9.1” d and weighing in at 6.5 lbs., what appears at first to be a smaller sized carry on is actually a very durable, ergonomically designed, functional piece of quality luggage. Made of Makrolon polycarbonate, the spacious interior is designed with straps, interior zip organizers and quality upholstery material that has a nice padding in both the lining and zippered divider. Equipped with dual caster wheels (eight wheels in total) the case glides effortlessly across various floor surfaces, thresholds and pavements. The eight wheels, each enhanced with Mitsubishi’s LI SOF tires, allow for a very smooth upright glide which also has an equally smooth 360-degree maneuverability. Zippers are very rugged and smooth and advertised as self-repairing. When the case is totally zipped, the zipper can be secured with the TSA approved Combination Lock. The combination lock is extremely easy to set with a ball point pen or paper clip and the rotation of three numerical dials to the three numbers chosen for your lock code. Victorinox even offers a “lock combination recovery program” at Victorinox.com and participation in the recovery program becomes active upon product registration and remains in effect through the duration of your ownership. The luggage has a smooth telescopic handle and parallel to the telescopic handle there is an additional rubberized haul handle on the top of the case. I wish the case also had a similar haul handle somewhere on the lock side of the case because it would assist shorter and older people with lifting the carry on up into the overhead plane bins. The 13.8” w x 21.7”h x 9.1” d dimension is all inclusive and includes the handle and wheels. The interior capacity of the luggage is 2014 cubic inches. If needed this can be expanded by unzipping an additional zipper which gives the carry on approximately 2 full inches to the depth and increases the interior capacity by 427 cubic inches to 2441 cubic inches. This additional space allowed me to also pack 3 sweaters, 2 cotton shirts and a pair of jeans. For convenience, the carry on is equipped with a zippered compartment for an external battery pack (not supplied) and the wiring feeds to a USB port to the rear of the telescopic handle. This USB port is covered by a sliding name plate. Victorinox offers a 1 + 10 years warranty. For the first 12 months, the luggage carries total protection against normal usage on everything except for the USB charging device. For years 2-11 the warranty covers all manufacturer defects except on seams, stitching, fabric and zipper tape. The warranty only applies to products purchased through authorized dealers with proof of purchase in such as a purchase receipt. I recommend that you look at this case if you need a frequent flyer carry on. Not only is it durable and ergonomic, it also exhibits an elegant design and is classic and simple at the same time. The capacity and exterior space possible with this bag is a big plus to this piece of luggage, and this is possible in large part because of the organization that the interior divider offers, the hardness of the exterior shell and the strength and durability of the zippers. I found the case fun to move through the TSA and airport to the gate because it is very functional. It is also very well made and the finished design results in a solid, classic piece of luggage.

Rugged build, ample space
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was time for me to step up my luggage game. After years of frustration with 2-wheel, softside, "cheap" luggage that had peeling plastic and fraying fabric insides, I opted to give a "real" carry-on a try. First, there is no substitute for 4 sets of wheels (technically 8 wheels, double-wheels in each corner). It stands more sturdily than a 2-wheel, it moves more freely, it rolls quietly...it is all around more pleasant to use. My only concern (and time will tell) is whether or not the wheels will hold up on concrete and slush or get snapped off if checked or caught on anything. Second, I like that the inside has a "divider" that is not mesh. My previous luggage had mesh dividers which did little to separate anything dirty or possibly wet from my "clean side." The material used inside this bag will likely do a much better job of keeping dirt/moisture (and maybe odor?) restricted. See the pictures for a detail of the fabric. Third, this suitcase has nice features including its attractive, yet plain design, telescopic handle with multiple heights, USB charger cable (and the "multi-tool"), quality zippers/stitching/fabric, TSA approved customizable combo lock, and apparent solid construction. The extra 1.6" expansion is nice for when you have that short trip that might require packing an extra sweatshirt for iffy weather or want to bring home a souvenir or two. Undoubtedly this carry-on can handle the abuse of travel yet keep your belongings safe and secure. It is very easy to walk with, carry, and pack...and won't fall over on its own like a top-heavy, 2-wheel softside. Victorinox had the needs of both the frequent and infrequent traveler in mind when they designed this suitcase.

Lots of space and a USB port for recharging!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an employee of Best Buy and had the opportunity to use the Victorinox Connex 22” Hardside Expandable Spinner. This suitcase packs enough for a 3-5 day trip. I was surprised with how much space this had and how much it expanded. It does a nice job partitoning the sides and there is even a padded pocket to hold your electronics. One of my favorite features was the USB port on the back allowing me to plug my powerbank (I bought separately) into the port and give my phone a boost on the go. Also, for the international traveler, there’s a tool to change your cell phone’s sim card. The hardside shell is durable. There’s a TSA approved lock for the zippers. The 4 dual spinner wheels also allowed smooth transportation. With all of these things, I’m giving it a 5. The brand is trustworthy, the components are well designed and durable and the bag does a nice job both creating and partitioning space. I’d recommend this product.

Rugged, nimble carry on
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm really impressed with this small, hard-sided carry on. It seems pretty small, but I was pleasantly surprised to easily pack everything I needed for a 4-day trip into it. I like that it's a little on the small side so I know it's going to fit with no problem in the overhead bins, even on the smaller regional jets used from my home airport. It's also apparently the ideal size and comfortable for cats (see pic). The USB port is kind of cool, but it's simply a port with a cable run inside where you can plug in your own battery pack. While sitting at the gate you can then just plug into the outside port without having to dig out your battery (assuming your battery comes on automatically). I was skeptical at first if this would be useful, but it really is kind of nice. The one little thing I wish it had was a handle on the long side rather than just on the top. When maneuvering into an overhead bin, or even just carrying it sometimes, a handle on that side would be nice. I found myself more than once trying to grab a handle there before remembering it didn't have one. But overall, I still love this carry on. It's lightweight yet very rugged. I'm even more confident it's rugged after being forced to check it on a full flight on the first leg of my return. So, it got thrown in the baggage compartments of not just one, but two, aircraft. I was kind of holding my breath, but it came out unscathed!

Victorinox quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm impressed! I have a Victorinox laptop bag that has served me well over the years. It's rugged and held up to a lot of abuse. I was particularly interested in this hard shell carry-on since. Off the bat you can tell this is well made. Everything appears to be double stitched. The zippers are high quality. It is expandable in case you need to fit that last pair of jeans in for your trip. The handle extends without and play or slop. The 8 wheels on the 4 casters allow it to roll easily and straight (I've got a cheaper carry-on that won't track straight and tends to fight me). The compartment is lockable with a TSA approved locking mechanism. The interior is a basic two compartment bag separated by a zippered divider. One compartment opened up or two separate... whatever works for your packing method. The divider has a few zippered pockets for quick stow of items. There is an X strap to secure the contents in case you need to compress them a bit. There is one mesh pocket in the base compartment that serves dual function... ditty bag or a stash compartment for a backup battery, more on that later. There is a hidden ID tag that when pulled out reveals a very small utility tray with a bag lock reset tool and a very tiny ball point pen. Also when you pull it out it exposes a female USB port that is connected by a provided cable to the mesh bag in the base compartment. When you plug the inside end of the cable to your battery pack you have a pretty handy recharge port on the outside of your bag... perfect for those long waits at the gate waiting to board. A few oddities. The supplied ball point pen is tiny and difficult to slide out of the utility tray. Not sure how useful it is if you can't extract it for use. Also, as part of that mesh bag that holds a battery pack it also has a spot for a Swiss Army knife (or at least that's the image shown on the pocket)... so that's not TSA friendly. I guess it would be a good stash pocket for a USB flash drive though. All in all it is a high quality carry-on and I can whole heartedly recommend it.

Functional and advanced features!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this just in time to use for a 3 day work trip. Out of the box I really like the hard but expandable exterior. This will no doubt offer more protection that my previously owned soft sided carry on bag. The wheels on this help it to move pretty effortlessly, as I walked through the airport it was pleasant and easy to push or pull along behind me or beside me. I love that it has a built in TSA approved lock, not that its bullet proof or anything, but it offers piece of mind for me and Id rather have it than not have it... especially if its built in. One of the cool "new" features I really haven't had on any other pieces of luggage before is the slide out tray with ball point pen, SD card tool, and built in USB port. Though I'm not sure Ill ever use any of these features besides the USB port to attach my battery pack to, its a cool add on that I've come to expect from Victorinox. Only downsides for me is the bag size, and I wish it had an additional handle or grab strap on the side. The bag is small! But it is expandable and I had no issues fitting 3 days of clothes in it. Overall its great quality and I would recommend it.

An excellent compromise of weight and strength
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My luggage and I travel a lot, averaging 150 flights a year. Two years ago, I destroyed two carry on bags in less than three months. I say destroyed, but in reality they simply weren't built for the wear and tear I put on my luggage. In their quest for lighter and lighter bags, many mass market manufacturers have sacrificed material strength, and this tends to show up in three places; handles, zippers, and wheels. If you ever have to check a bag with all of your medications and extra IDs because the handle won't retract, it's likely the last last time you will carry a cheap bag. Enter the Victorinox. This is my second Victorinox carry on, and my first hard sider. The construction is excellent. The Hinomoto wheels are great. They roll freely and take a lot of wear. In fact, if you're not careful, the bag will actually roll away from you on the slightest incline. The YKK zippers are solid. The handle, while reasonably lightweight, will hold up admirably to a 20 pound backpack resting on it. Inside the bag, there are a couple of simple compartments to allow you to separate items, like extra IDs, medications, or paperwork. One pocket has space to put a portable battery, with a USB cable that extends to the outside of the bag. And the outside of the bag has a nice retractable luggage tag, with a small pen and the aforementioned USB port. I actually don't understand why my bag needs a USB port, but there it is. Now for the downsides. This bag has no side handle, only a top handle. This is fine for carrying, but a second handle is really useful for lifting a heavy bag into the overhead bin. And it's a small bag. My soft side Victorinox Werks, while noticeably smaller than my old Delsey, is an excellent size for longer trips. It always fits in the overhead bin and I can easily get a week's worth of work clothes, etc., in it. This Connex bag, though, I don't see how I can get more than a couple of nights out of it. By my crude internal measurements, the Werks bag is 42% larger than this one. This is a very well constructed, excellent bag. Just be aware of the small size and make sure you can easily lift it over your shoulders, fully packed, by a single handle.

Fantastic carry on for frequent travelers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I travel several times a year for work, and a few times a year for fun and have been looking for the ‘perfect’ carry-on for a while now. Most of my trips are 2-3 days, so having a bag I can fit everything in for a trip without having to check it or worry about the contents while traveling is important to me. I think I’ve finally found what I’m looking for in the Victorinox expandable 22” spinner. I’ve tried several cheaper brands of hard-side spinners before this one, and each had it’s share of issues. The most common is construction (there is nothing quite as aggravating as literally having the ‘wheels come off’ of a suitcase when you’re in a hurry through an airport), and then storage compartments. While the space seems the same in these bags, the use of said space leaves a lot to be desired in some brands. First, the bag looks cool. It’s so simple it’s almost ‘post-modern’, but it will certainly never go out of style like some of the crazier bags I’ve seen lately. It also has a smaller profile than many 22” bags—I wasn’t questioned on the size on my first trip and can’t imagine I ever will be. It just seems smaller than all the other carry-ons I saw getting on the plane, and it fit in the ‘size tester’ at the airport with room to spare. Getting it in the overhead on the way there was no issue at all. This bag is constructed to survive a LOT, and I can verify it survives baggage handling since my second time using it (return trip) it had to be checked. I got it back after arrival and it looked like it did straight out of the box! There are eight very sturdy dual caster wheels that roll smoother than any other bag I’ve ever used (and somehow, they’re MUCH less noisy!). The zippers are the sturdiest I’ve seen on luggage, both inside and out. The TSA approved combination lock is awesome as well! I’ve always had to use those cheap ‘luggage’ size locks on bags and felt like I could break them off with my hands. This bag seems sturdy enough that it would take lengths most thieves wouldn’t bother with to break it open. When you’re traveling with valuable things it’s good to have a bag you feel secure with. The most important thing after being sturdy is how much the bag can hold. I was able to pack a suit, two other days of business clothes, a pair of shoes and three days’ worth of casual clothes along with all the toiletries and extras, with everything kept separate and felt like I had room to spare. The ‘expandable’ portion would probably allow at least another day’s worth of clothes. The interior compartments are great! There are dividers that feel like you really are separating your dirty things from clean things, and they aren’t made of mesh! I’ve never understood the luggage industry’s fascination with mesh—I can only assume it’s cheaper to use. The ‘extras’ are pretty cool—particularly the USB port. You have to supply the battery (by TSA standards it must be removable) but it holds most smaller charging bricks without a problem, and the USB end fit my charging battery without an issue. I found it really helpful to not have to search for an open plug at the crowded airport terminal, and not to have to worry about where my phone sat while it charged since the port is on the top of the bag. The other ‘extras’ are cool if a tad overboard, but I’d expect nothing less from a Swiss-army inspired item. The 1-year total warranty on everything but the USB charger is more than a lot of luggage companies provide, and the additional 10-year warranty is an industry standard. Based on my use so far I’ll be surprised if I ever need them. While this is an expensive bag, if you travel a lot you know that cheaper bags with sub-par warranties (even from name brands) are cheap for a reason. I’ll be using this bag at least a dozen times every year, possibly a lot more. The higher price is worth it for my things, and my peace of mind. If you travel a lot I highly recommend this bag.
