5Love my new range!

This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range - Stainless-Steel
I love this range. It took some getting used to going from a electric coil stove top to a flat smooth stove top but the cooking is so much more even. With my electric coil cooking there were hot spots where food would stick in certain areas of my pots but with this range there is such even cooking that I don't have that problem. I love the way I can use the inner heating element or both for a larger cooking area. It's great being able to customize my cooking with each size pot or pan I use. The oven seems to take a little longer to preheat than my old one but I just adjusted to that. I'm really happy with all the cooking I've done with this range. It's really nice to be able to use the convection or bake features with the oven. I find that I use the convection cooking more. The storage drawer is smaller than my last one but I've just adjusted to that. I'm not going to complain about that when I have such a larger oven. It's huge! I did order a third oven rack since it only comes with 2 racks. I had to make minor adjustments compared to my old range but that's to be expected. I didn't go wrong purchasing this range and I'm very happy with it.

1This is the worst appliance I have ever purchased
PostedJon1228This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range - Stainless-Steel
I purchased this range about 6 months ago and have been unhappy with it ever since. The glass top is very difficult if not impossible to clean. I was told by a repair person that came to check out my concerns about the range to use a razor blade and lots of cleaner. But to be careful with the razor blade so as to not scratch the top. It requires way too much time to keep it clean so it looks dirty most of the time. The over takes a long time to heat up, I think somewhere around 10-15 minutes to heat up to 400 degrees. When the oven heats to more than 400 degrees the handle gets hot. I measured it at 180 degrees. Then there is the aqua clean in place of a self cleaning over that heats up and burns off all the food. This does nothing to give the oven that nice clean look that I have gotten in the past from older ranges that have self cleaning. Looks like I will have to go buy some over cleaner to get it back to that new look. Based on all of the things I dislike about this over I regret every day that I have to use it. After contacting Whirlpool executive offices they sent out a repair person to make sure the range was operating normally. It turns out everything is working as it is supposed to but I hate, hate, hate this range and wished I hadn't taken so long to do something about it. Well not it is too late and Whirlpool says "sorry there is nothing else we can do". Well I can do something - Never buy a Whirlpool appliance again. Buyer beware on this oven.

This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range - White
This stove was bought to replace a very similar model that had started to fail. The larger burners provide a choice of using all or only part of the burner coils, which is a plus. The convection oven is also a great feature. I am looking forward to using the Aqua-lift feature, but cannot comment on it yet. The only complaint I have so far is about the drawer under the oven. On my old stove the drawer was easily twice as tall as the one on this unit. This one can hold one broiling pan and that's about it. Seems a poor design choice with no good reason why it couldn't be taller. Other than that, I am very happy with this stove. As a side note, I had a very hard determining the finish on this stove. The floor model at my BestBuy was black with a stainless finish on the oven door and drawer, and also surrounding the knobs and buttons on the backsplash. The pictures on BestBuy's website of the white stoves and the stainless stoves look practically identical, and I could find no info from BestBuy or the Whirlpool site stating whether the white model also had stainless in these areas. All of my other appliances are white, and I went ahead and ordered this model since it had all the features I wanted in my price range. I was very pleased upon delivery to find that the white model of this stove is ALL white with no stainless to be found. Now I don't have to battle the endless fingerprints!

This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range - Stainless-Steel
I bought this range when we moved in our new home the end of Dec 2013. I absolutely LOVED this stove! I have had a smooth top/convection before. The top is easy to clean. It doesn't take long to heat up. I love the convection oven. It cooks evenly and works great. I had not used the self cleaning feature until yesterday. All I had done was have some brown gravy spill and splatter in the bottom. So, I thought I would use the cleaning feature. OMG! I used it 4 TIMES and it is still not clean! I made sure I followed the instructions to a "T"! It says not to use chemicals, but I have used a plastic Pampered Chef scrapper and it still will not come up. I have no choice but to use some type of oven cleaner if I don't want my oven smoking every time I use it now. I sure wish I would have used this feature the first 30 days I had the stove, because it would have returned it. I hate to clean an oven, and with the price I paid I shouldn't have to clean it the old fashioned way, but I have no other choice!

52nd review; cooktop preservation tip
Posted4kitties2This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range - Stainless-Steel
This is my second review. I would like to mention a tip that we use to keep the glass cooktop from becoming scratched or broken. We have a small counter on each side of our range and have placed a wood cutting board on each. Therefore, as we need to remove hot dishes from the oven, remove pot lids from pans on the burners, place spoons or utensils aside, or serve food, we utilize the cutting boards. This has worked extremely well for us in keeping our cooktop nice, plus it is very convenient. Also, there has been no issue for us with using any of our current cookware; aluminum or stainless steel or any other. However, we are very cautious about sliding pots and pans around; pick them up to move them. My cooktop has remained beautiful up to date.

The range we were replacing was a Whirlpool that we used for 26 years. We did not limit ourselves to Whirlpool, we looked at all makes. After several days of research, this model went on sale while everywhere else it was $899 or up. Even the Navy Exchange would not match Best Buy price. So we are very happy with that. The range was highly rated by industry trade web sites. The cavernous oven may not maintain a narrow band temp profile, but we haven't had problems roasting veg or meats. The broiler can sneak up on you and burn garlic bread in 20 seconds after looking at it. But we are still playing with that. The only drawback is the same you see in all reviews, the glass top doesn't stay pristine. You need to follow the instructions and clean it, often if you want the top to look nice. If you never had ceramic glass top before read up about it before buying.

4Adequate Electric Stove

This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range - Stainless-Steel
We purchased this Whirlpool range after our previous range had an electrical short in the back that almost sparked a fire. This stove was actually a downgrade from our previous stove. Everything works okay, but there's nothing to rave about. We opted for the manual knobs over electronic ones - time will tell how long they hold up as they feel a bit flimsy. There are complaints about the storage drawer which does not have rollers. Again, it feels flimsy, but works okay. The glass top seems like it might stain, but this was the same as our previous stove as well. My only real complaint at the moment is the electronic clock - it is hard to read at a distance, and is too bright at night. At this point we've had it for about a month or two, and it is working fine. Overall, as long as it holds up, I'd say it's a decent buy for the money.

We really love this range. Top burners are versatile in size and very responsive. Convection oven is awesome. Larger capacity oven is great. Controls are user friendly. Hot surface warning light is appreciated. Large oven window is wonderful. Love how the temperatures are maintained during cooking. Attractive range. Easy to keep the smooth cooktop clean as I clean it after each use; mostly use glass cleaner but have a cooktop cleaner also for stubborn marks. Not as difficult to keep looking nice as I feared. So very glad that we purchased this particular range. Would do so again in a heartbeat. Have not needed to clean the oven yet and have not used the warming burner yet so cannot remark on those features. However, we are so very happy with this purchase.
