Not for the casual gamer, but an Epic tale awaits
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not a game for the casual gamer, or for someone looking for a 'hit and run' game that can be played for 20-30 and then forgotten for a few days. This is an expansive game and time suck... and worth every immersive minute. The game's visuals are striking and beautiful and the scale breathtaking at times. The beauty and scale of the game are only second to the sheer size of the world; it's insanely big, dwarfing many other popular open world games on other systems. There are moments where the game is a bit unforgiving, combat can drag and some battles feel unfair until you realize you just need to level and equip accordingly... and actually use tactics/strategy. The time spent playing out the story until you get your first mech is pretty daunting, but again worth the wait. Other than those personal preferences (can't really call them flaws) and maybe some of the voice acting, I can't recommend this game strongly enough... at least for the jrpg and rpg fans in general who have a lot of time to invest.

Great open world, can get confusing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best game I've played on Wii U. Graphics are surprising for the system, and the story is interesting. The MMO style combat is fast and fun. My only complaints are the lack of direction for some side quests (you wil get lost) and the aweful music in the main city. I'm glad Monolith provided the free DLC packs to get around the disc and improve the game's textures, load times, and overall stability though.

I'm impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It may not be exactly my cup of tea, but a lot of solid effort went into this game and it shows. Firstly, the story is compelling, unless sci-fi survival just isn't your thing. As you continue to play, it doesn't take long for the story to get very complex with new plot elements added as you continue to explore. And that is another thing all together: there is a lot to explore, and it is lush and thick, rich in attention to detail and strategy. Each situation has to be handled using an approach that works, and with the open world as rich as it is, I suppose the approach will vary extraordinarily from player to player, thus making Xenoblade Chronicles X a very different game for each player. Lastly, that brings me to customization. Weapons, outfits, characters, jobs, etc.: there's enough here to satisfy every style of play. Every element of Xenoblade is crafted to perfection, and I can see why Nintendo believes in Monolith Soft.

Best Wii U Game of 2015
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very fun game. Combat is fun and graphics rival those of PS4 and Xbox One (you have to see it to believe it). Story is not that great but if you can look past that, this is a really well made game. I like how it utilizes the Wii U gamepad as your own transporting device and scanner for installing probes throughout the different lands and continents you'll be visiting. The game world is huge and it's an open world environment for you to explore while battling out its weird inhabitants. Fast travel between locations you have visited is available thru your gamepad screen. This is without question the best Wii U game of 2015. The exploration JRPG I wanted
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not played the original on the Wii. With that said, this is an amazing open world JRPG in terms of combat and gameplay. The combat is slow during the first few hours but increases in depth once you get more arts/skills and invest points in them. The open world is very beautiful and more often than not you will find yourself just exploring the land to take in the views. The game is not without fault though. Some of the prominent ones are a lackluster story, enemy pop-ins even with the data packs installed, and bad sound mixing during cutscenes. However, despite these flaws, the world and combat is immensely satisfying, which keeps me coming back for more.
