||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I'm very happy with this rx385 plenty of power I use klipsch RX4 on front pair and a JBLsub. This amp is so turnable I am amazed at the moder n electronics all the low frequency you could want my front pair of speakers play bass heavy anyways it will play the high frequencies plenty strong if you turn it that way not my preference overall you can't go wrong for the price I paid

Nice receiver
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I hooked this up in my front room just to have a little surround sound from the television and for listening to my XM Sirius satellite. It's probably a bit more than what I needed but I have always known Yamaha to make dependable long lasting equipment and so far I am satisfied with this purchase.

Great receiver for bedrooms
||Posted .This is a 5.1 channel surround sound receiver which means it is for a max of five speakers and a subwoofer. I use it for my bedroom/studio apartment and it's more than enough. Yamaha is a trusted brand for sound and all my speakers are Bose so it's good combo. If you want to power a full home theater center in your home I recommend going for the 7.1 channel. Everything on the receiver is labeled very clearly so you don't have to be too knowledgeable about cables to be able to connect your speakers. The interface is simple enough as well. The best part is how simple it is to switch between inputs. The switch buttons are just as big as the volume control on the remote. I am happy with my purchase.

Cheaply made
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I have a Samsung dryer and washer that I bought over 13 years ago and had to replace the dryer but my god this dryer looks so cheaply made it’s not even drying properly I have to do two cycles I’m trying to get the clothes dried, so I’m returning this

Few Workarounds Necessary
||Posted .Unit was a bit complex getting installed as TV settings have to be specific for ARC HDMI use, etc. Many reviewers had issue with a weak sub signal as did I but found a resolution. If you lower your powered subs volume and phase the receiver then overcompensates during setup. This allows for normal use after you return to normal manual settings on your subs amp.

Q: QuestionHave everything hooked up radio cable bx all work but when I switch to netflix or YouTube apps on tv I have no sound. Not sure if its just switching to tv or if i need optical cord. Thanks for help
Asked by Steve.
- A:Answer Steve, ARC needs to be configured on your TV and the Receiver - that sets up the "Audio Return Channel" to the Receiver. If your TV doesn't support ARC, you could hookup Optical Out from your TV to Optical In on the Receiver.

Q: Questionis this for wired speakers
Asked by mudd.
- A:Answer Yes. You push the wire and it locks in place. So far, like it a lot. Replaced an old Onkyo with it. Run my TV through it.

Q: QuestionCan I connect both my 8ohm front speakers simultaneously with 6ohm center and rear speakers?
Asked by TP.
- A:Answer TP, Mixing 6 Ohm & 8 Ohm on separate channels is fine. (Speaker resistance actually varies over the frequency range.) Wouldn't recommend 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm for this receiver, though.

Q: QuestionI have the speakers for 5.1 channel but I need a receiver. I want to be able to watch movies from a DVD player would I have to connect the hdmi cable to this receiver or to the tv? If it’s to the tv do I just plug the receiver and the DVD player to the tv
Asked by Jared.
- A:Answer Connect the tv to the receiver via ARC. Connect the DVD to any HDMI input on the receiver (1 through 4). With the tv on you would then select that input on the receiver to view your DVD. Connect other devices to the receiver and merely change the input to view on the tv. Some selections, such as Bluetooth, don't require a tv/monitor...such as streaming music.

Q: QuestionWhen using headphones with this, does simply plugging in the phones turn off the speakers, or do they need to be manually turned off?
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer Speakers connected to the receiver are automatically cut off when headphones are plugged in. Not so when a blue tooth device is connected so if the you want the speakers to turn off you have to mute the receiver.
