This brand new 1/35 scale plastic model kit of the Tiger I Early Version Tank "Operation Citadel" by Airfix comes in the manufacturer’s original unopened box with vintage style packaging. The officially licensed kit contains over 200 detailed parts molded in light brown unless otherwise indicated, and includes decals to design the tank in 2 different schemes. Paint and cement are required but not included, and the kit does not include a display stand. The assembled model measures approximately L-9.48, W-4.01 inches. The Tiger I Early Version, officially designated Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E, made its debut in late 1942 and became a central asset in Germany’s armored warfare strategy by summer 1943, particularly during Operation Citadel at Kursk, the largest tank battle in history. Armed with the powerful 88mm KwK 36 L/56 gun and heavy frontal armor, it was nearly impervious to most Soviet anti-tank weapons at medium to long range. Units such as Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 and 505 spearheaded assaults through Soviet defensive lines, facing overwhelming numbers of T-34s, heavily mined terrain, and layered defenses. Despite mechanical challenges and the ultimate failure of Operation Citadel, the Tiger I’s battlefield performance cemented its reputation as a legendary combat vehicle. The early version’s distinctive rubber-rimmed road wheels, vertical turret sides, and initial-style commander’s cupola made it an icon of German engineering, feared and respected alike. This 1:35 scale model faithfully reproduces the tank’s imposing presence, Zimmerit coating, and early-production features, making it ideal for history enthusiasts and WWII modelers seeking to capture the intensity of the Eastern Front battles in display or diorama form.
