A: It with IPS 120hz panel, also support Gsync!!!
A: I bought this computer yesterday at my local bestbuy, and yes the fans are a little bit louder then some other gaming laptops. Now going passed all the updates on initial setup which makes this laptop sound pretty loud i have noticed times where the fans will kick up when I am either loading Vivado, Visual Studio, chrome or even Spotify. The fans kick up to about 40%, not too loud but you can easily notice that they are on but they turn off a couple of minuets later. Today I loaded star wars battlefront and i can say without a doubt that you're going to either freak out, or anger people around you. The fans are really loud to the point that it's a uncomfortable gaming experience if you're playing without headphones. But this is to be expected with most gaming laptops.
Q: Does this have RGB backlighting and does it really have g sync?
A: Yes it does. There's four lighting zones. And yes it has g-sync.
A: it's a normal gtx 1060, not a max q. the usb type c is not thunderbolt. Yes there is several reasons. First of all, the 120hz and g sync are so smooth, once you go 120hz you never go back, believe me. Second, the screen is much much better, more color accurate, and brighter. Also, you have the RGB keyboard instead of being stuck with the red one, which is a nice thing to have. source: I'm a previous owner of the 7577 but I returned it for this laptop.
A: The soft touch material is everywhere on the bottom part of the laptop where your hands would rest if you're typing. The brushed aluminum is what you'd feel when the laptop is closed and you're touching the top of it. The ROG logo lights up red. It's colored plastic that lets light pass through from your screen, so depending on how bright your screen is at the time, the logo will change brightness. Kinda like the apple logo on macbooks.
A: I'm currently typing this answer on this laptop. Purchased on October 25th. Asus' website doesn't specify if it's IPS or not. It just says it's an "Anti-Glare Panel 72% NTSC with 178˚ wide-viewing angle display". I can say that the viewing angle part is true and that it's very bright and colors are vibrant. The refresh rate is 120hz or 60hz. It defaults to 120hz out of the box and man is it smooth. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. Do keep in mind that the fans can get pretty loud when gaming but I expected that from a thin gaming laptop. It's the only con I can think of really but it's not a problem.
A: The ones at Best Buy only have 3gb GPUs. In store they may be able to order one with 6gb if you ask.
A: Most games at 1080p don't require more than 3GB of dedicated video memory but that can change in the future. Keep in mind, this is a 1080p screen on the laptop. Only game I'd even push close to that limit was GTA5 because I played on a desktop in 2K with literally every setting maxed out and that's not even necessary. If no game you play uses more than 3GB memory, you'll never notice the difference between 3GB and 6GB Memory. Regardless of memory, a GTX1060 is a GTX1060 with same clock speeds, delivering the same FPS
