Q: is this direct drive or belt, and does it have a preamp?
A: It is diect drive, it works so quiet. I don't think it has a pre-amp, but not for sure.

A: It's a darker shade so no, it's not a clear cover.
Q: does it come with a cartridge?
A: The only thing the turntable is missing is the needles. I'm using some reloop needles and the work fantastic.
