GE Appliances Energy Star dehumidifiers are designed to effectively remove excessive moisture for various dampness levels, offering optimal home comfort for you and your family.
This 50 pint Energy Star Dehumidifier with built-in pump removes 50 pints of water from the air per day. This model is ideal for wet room conditions, anywhere in the home, basement or garage. The built-in pump with an included hose, allows water to be drained to any convenient location up to 16 feet away. This feature eliminates the need to check in on the water level in the bucket, and the need to empty the bucket periodically. The Smart Dry feature compares the set humidity level with the actual humidity in the room and automatically adjusts the fan speed accordingly. The adjustable humidistat allows you to set your desired humidity level anywhere between 30-70% (40% is recommended for maximum comfort). The soft touch control panel and LED digital controls on this GE dehumidifier let you clearly see and manage your settings. This Energy Star model offers 3 fan speeds, auto defrost control, and a 2- or 4- hour off timer, while pocket handles and easy roll hidden wheels make it easy to move from one location to another.
Q: Hello, Does this unit have an automatic shut off when the bucket is full?
A: Yes. It shuts off the unit when the water is about 1.5 " from the top. The bucket has a collapsible handle on top which makes it very easy to carry. The bucket is well balanced so if you are careful, it will not slosh and spill water as you carry it to dump the water out.
A: Yes - it shuts off completely and starts again when humidity rises above the set level
Q: Does it freeze up in lower temp.? I will be using it in the basement.
A: Any dehumidifier will freeze up when the temperatures are below freezing, as the water will freeze in the lines. As long as you can keep the basement temperatures above freezing, you should still be able to use this unit. We find that putting our dehumidifier on cement blocks to boost it up away from the floor does the trick, as the air is a bit warmer up there.
Q: Does it work up to 1,500 sq ft despite having rooms separated by wall?
A: Maybe. I placed mine in the basement, placed it on "auto", and the pump drains into a sink. Before I did that, my AC was running constantly and the temperature inside would get no lower than 78°. Once we used the dehumidifier, it drops to a cool 72°. I think......as the air circulates around the house, it pulls the moisture from that air and recirculates it. So in a nutshell, I believe as long as you have good airflow the walls don't matter.
A: If you try to set the humidity level below 35, it lights up non-stop and the % value disappears from the display. I have mine set at 40 and it cycles on/off to maintain that value.
A: The reservoir only holds 7.5qts, so pretty quickly. I use the pump and the drain hose to keep it empty.
