    Premium Quality TV

Absolutely impressed with this TV. The picture quality is incredibly sharp and clear, with vibrant colors and true 4K detail. The sound quality is also surprisingly good — rich, clean, and immersive without needing extra speakers. The overall design feels very premium and modern, making it look high-end in the living room. Great value for the price and definitely exceeded my expectations.

    Bright and vivid colors

I had never considered buying a Hisense TV before, it was a brand I didn’t know much about, and I was very wary about whether it would be up to my “standards”. After having the Hisense 75” U7 MiniLED Google TV for a few days I can humbly acknowledge that this TV exceeds my expectations with ease. My only complaint is about the weight and how bulky it feels, and it was because of these two that I was initially inclined to give it a 4-star rating, but I think it is closer to a 5-star rating. The main selling point for this device is the picture/video capabilities, which I think are outstanding. Even older content looks decent (which is not always the case for TVs of this big size), I assume there is some sort of correction or upscaling that comes into play, and I think Hisense has done a great job in that regard. For newer content I perceived some image adjustment a few times (I have yet to determine the conditions but looks like there is always some sort of adjustment/processing to the image). Nevertheless, the end result feels just great. I paired this the Hisense U7 TV with my existing 360 audio setup, connected to the TV through e-ARC HDMI, and we have been enjoying watching videos on YouTube and Netflix, which are the two major apps we use to consume content, besides regular cable TV. • Pros: bright and vivid colors, no glare, no reflection, high refresh rate. • Cons: very heavy. little bulky, only 2.1 audio. >> Assembly It is recommended to have two people unpack and assembly it. I took the risk and assembled it on my own on the carpet; however, I had to resort to my significant other to place the TV on the media console furniture, as it was impossible for me to do it alone. The base stand is very heavy, which is expected if you don’t want to risk the TV tilt over. If you are thinking about putting this TV on the wall, I’d think twice, it is very heavy and I am sure you’d need to have a solid TV wall mount and wall or studs that can hold the mount plus the TV without incurring much stress. For now, I am keeping the TV on a media console table until I find a replacement for my older entertainment center furniture which only fits up to my older 65” TV. >> Setup Just follow the on-screen instructions. It forces you to login to your google account or create on if you don’t have it, it is a Google TV after all. For privacy reasons I always like to have this kind of devices to not contain any of my personal information, so I reluctantly added my seldom used Google account. You could argue that I could have just created a Google account for the TV and forget about it (next time). Besides this initial Google account observation, the rest of the setup is very easy. >> Picture/Video The picture quality of this device is outstanding. The default settings provide a very bright image, which could strain your eyes at night, so you’d need to perform some image adjustments (change for instance to night theater mode). In the image settings section, there is the AI “intelligent settings” to allow personalize the image, we haven’t tried it as we find the current options are all that we need, but that is something you might want to explore. Content in 4K and higher looks amazing. Also, lower quality videos look decent enough to watch them without much complaint, which is not always true for similar size TVs, so there must be some sort of image adjustment. For newer content there also seems to be some image processing, since a few times I noticed the images/videos to look “retouched” (similar to what you get with AI-generated content). I guess is the work of the miniLED technology. Add to this a high refresh rate of 165Hz and I can enjoy videos and play games without noticing any choppiness. I believe Hisense has a solid product right here. >> Audio This comes with only 2.1.2 multichannel configuration, which I haven’t tested since I went straight to connect the TV with my 360 audio equipment through e-ARC HDMI, and the sound is just perfect. I was curious why it didn’t come with more channels though, and it looks like there is another version of this TV, the U8 series, which has more channels, and that might be something to consider before buying either model. >> Apps There are multiple apps available for this TV, as expected. I was surprised that the Hisense app has a good set of free channels, similar to the older 65” TV I am replacing this TV with (well, I’ll still keep the older TV though). And in the age of AI, it is no surprise that we encounter AI apps everywhere, and this TV is no exception. The main AI app one of course is Gemini, but there is another simple one that caught my eye, the “custom AI art” app. Custom AI art: I tried this app just for curiosity and was highly pleased with it, it looks simple on the surface but for sure produces amazing looking images. I can create a screen saver with these AI generated images, but the only downside to use them as screen saver is that it forces you to link your account to the TV, which I think is a little intrusive.

Great TV with beautiful pictures and a few quirks

Getting the TV ready is the same as any TV. The one thing I did have a problem with though is that the app clip on iOS didn't work. When you turn it on, it says scan the QR code to easily be able to setup the TV, and all I got was an error on my iPhone so I couldn't use it. I had to go in manually using the controller, and since you're forced to sign into google account and I have a long password, it was a long process. The only other annoyance is all the apps that come pre installed and having to remove them. But since the TV runs google TV (aka Android TV) if you have google play store apps they can be loaded and I believe would save your home screen if you have another device. With the bad out of the way, the rest of my experience has been great. The smart TV software isn't actually too bad and I have been using it after installing another launch. Usually I switch to a connected HDMI device but this has been snappy and works pretty decent so I use it more then any other TV. Beyond the software, the picture is the big thing and you'll notice it if you're going from a super cheat TV to this. The blacks look amazingly black, and the colors are all amazing. If you do use OLED this is the closet I've seen to color like this that's not OLED. The refresh rate is also impressive if you're playing games or watching sports. The speaker are all decent, though I did go back to using my sound bar for surround sound but if you don't have that setup the included speakers do sound good. Other features are pretty similar, you get 4 hdmi port though weirdly ARC is 3 and not 1 so plug it correctly. The controller is responsive but nothing special and also has the random buttons for apps to stream with. Overall, this is a really nice TV with a working smart system that responds and one you'll use. The picture is superb and rivals OLED with a fast refresh rate.

    A Breathtaking Upgrade!

I upgraded TVs, going from a 55” budget TV to this 75” Hisense TV. While the difference in size was huge, the difference in quality was even more significant. My old TV was a little less than a decade old, and I wanted something larger where I could both enjoy my media and play on my PS5. I have been using this TV for about a week now, and wow, what a breathtaking upgrade this is. In this review, I will go over my thoughts on the Hisense – 75” Class U7 Series 4K Google TV. *TLDR at the bottom =================================== IN THE BOX/SET-UP: The TV was packed and shipped nicely. Kudos to the logistics team! In the box, you get a heavy television stand, power cable, backlit remote, and some documentation. You will need two people to set the TV up due to its awkward and large size. I recommend double-checking inside the Styrofoam inserts, as there were a couple of items in there that I would’ve thrown away if I hadn’t found them at the last minute. The instructions were straightforward, and you should expect to spend at least 30 minutes setting the TV up. My entertainment center has a built-in mount, so I had to do some cleanup, and therefore, my setup time was a bit over an hour. If you plan to mount the TV, there are screws in the back that need to be removed in order to attach a mount there. Once the physical setup was complete, I needed to go through the TV setup. The TV runs Google TV, which is based on Android. The UI is very Android-heavy and will be familiar to Android users. A Google account is required for setup. =================================== FIRST IMPRESSIONS: My first impression of this TV is wow, it’s massive. Going from a 55” to a 75” is a huge difference and feels significantly more immersive. There are also plenty of HDMI ports for all your devices(4 HDMI ports, 1 is HDMI eARC). One major item that will stand out upon turning up the volume is the TV's speakers. They are tuned by Devialet and sound amazing. They are probably the best built-in TV speakers I have ever heard. The built-in subwoofer adds what most TVs lack, which is the lows. There is also an EQ setting available to fine-tune the audio to your liking. Now, can these built-in speakers replace a home theatre audio system? No, you won’t be receiving that surround and immersive sound with the built-in speakers. But if you don’t have anything else, the TV's speakers are perfect and work well. They seriously do sound great. On top of sounding great, Hisense offers the ability to run both the TV's speakers and your optical connected speakers at the same time for an even grander experience. The remote being backlit is also a nice touch. =================================== PICTURE QUALITY: In terms of picture quality, as soon as you start something up on the TV, you will be immersed in vivid imagery. One of the first things I did was watch one of those 4K scenic videos with vibrant colors on YouTube. There are plenty of TV modes ranging from Vivid to theatre modes. I decided to test out the brightness first, and this TV does get bright indeed. It gets up to 3000 nits peak brightness. In a fully lit room, the display continues to look amazing! On top of that, the mini-LED QLED display allows you to view the display from any angle without the picture getting “washed out.” One of my favorite parts of this TV is the color detail. All colors are distinguishable from each other and appear incredibly vibrant and realistic. Watching true 4K content on this TV is seriously an eye-catching experience. Darker scenes on your media where there are different shades of black are also distinguishable with little to no blooming. Do you prefer watching media in a different tone? The picture settings (blacks, white balance, contrast, gamma, etc.) are quite vast on this TV, and you can genuinely spend a good amount of time messing with the settings. =================================== FEATURES/PERFORMANCE: The TV is powered by Google TV. The UI is easy to navigate and straightforward. Apps can also be downloaded via the custom Play Store, which includes Google Play Games. I didn’t get a chance to play around with Google Play Games, but the free games are a nice touch. The remote is also voice-enabled and can be used to search for things rather than manually typing words out. As with most smart devices these days, there are “AI-powered” features on this TV. Google’s Gemini is built into here as an assistant. I haven’t played around with Gemini, but according to Google, it should be able to personalize recommendations based on the stuff you ask. The AI stuff I played around with more is the TV’s AI features. Some of these include AI Contrast, which automatically adjusts dark and light areas based on the scene. Which seemed to work subtly, but not anything significant. Another AI feature that I was interested in but left me a bit dissatisfied is the AI Ambient Light Sensor. This feature is supposed to automatically adjust brightness based on the room’s lighting, but I found that it would adjust brightness a little too much on one side. For example, in a dark room, the brightness would be turned down way too low to the point where the picture loses its clarity. In terms of performance, the TV does an excellent job of playing your favorite media in stunning quality. Picture quality can be adjusted to your liking, so whether you like that cool or warm look, there are plenty of customization options for you. The TV can also be used for gaming. With a 4K display and up to a native 165Hz refresh rate, console gaming is perfect for this TV. While the PS5 can only do up to a 120Hz refresh rate, it was still able to take advantage of the various picture settings. One neat feature that I found was that the PS5’s main menu can be controlled with the TV remote. Anything beyond that, you’ll need your gaming controller. Within the TV’s menu, there is a Game Bar-like option that pulls up various game settings. Some of these settings include changing game modes (e.g., FPS, RPG, etc.). There is an option to turn on an FPS counter and a setting to enhance dark details, which is great for those horror games that are too dark. I was able to play a variety of games, from racing to action-adventure games like Gran Turismo and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Overall, both looked incredible. I did turn on Fidelity mode in games that supported it to maximize picture quality. With this turned on, combined with the fine details that the TV brings out in games, everything was certainly breathtaking. Overall, if you enjoy console gaming on large TVs, this is a perfect TV for your console. If you want to simply use the TV for your favorite TV shows/films, this TV will give you everything you need for an immersive experience. =================================== CONCLUSION/TLDR: Overall, this Hisense TV has been a fantastic upgrade from my previous one. I seriously enjoy how detailed and vivid the picture quality is. From the brightest of colors to the various shades of black, this TV enhances it all to make it feel more immersive. The picture settings are highly customizable. Whether you like the darker details to be brighter or if you would rather watch your film in a cooler color, it's all open to customization. The speakers on this TV are one of the highlights as they sound incredible. The built-in subwoofer brings out the lows that many TVs lack. On top of being able to view your favorite media in stunning quality, the TV can also be used for gaming. I used my PS5 with this TV, and my entire gaming experience became more immersive. My old TV was close to a decade old, and I didn’t realize how many new features I was missing out in modern TVs. This TV can do it all, and if you are looking for an upgrade, I wholeheartedly recommend you try this one out!
