This brand new plastic model kit features the Consolidated B-24D Liberator Bomber Aircraft in 1:72 scale by Airfix, designed for Level 3 builders. The kit comes in a brand new box with vintage-style packaging and is officially licensed, containing 258 detailed parts. Paint and cement are required but not included, and the parts are molded in light gray unless otherwise indicated. The assembled model measures approximately 18.3 inches in length and 11.75 inches in width, and includes decals to design the plane in two different schemes. The B-24D-25-CO Liberator, serial number 41-24301, famously known as Lady Be Good, was assigned to the 514th Bomb Squadron, 376th Bomb Group, Ninth Air Force during World War II, operating out of Soluch Airfield in Libya. On April 4, 1943, Lady Be Good took off on her first combat mission—a raid on Naples, Italy—but due to poor weather, navigation difficulties, and desert conditions, the crew became separated from their formation and ultimately perished in the Libyan Desert after bailing out. The aircraft continued flying on autopilot before landing wheels-up, remaining undiscovered for 16 years until 1959. The story of Lady Be Good highlights the perils faced by WWII aircrews and the harsh realities of desert warfare, with parts of the aircraft preserved in various U.S. museums.
