Q: How many watts does this unit draw in use?
A: Hi there, Jose. We understand your inquiry about the power consumption of your LG LW6024R window air conditioner. This model delivers 6,000 BTU of cooling and has a Combined Energy Efficiency Ratio (CEER) of 11.5, which means its typical power draw during normal cooling operation is about 520 watts (6,000 BTU ÷ 11.5 CEER). Additionally, at startup or on the highest fan setting the unit can draw up to 15 amps at 115 volts (roughly 1,725 watts), but under steady-state cooling you’ll see about 520 watts. Troubleshooting Tip: To maintain that efficient ~520 W draw, please check and clean the washable filter every two weeks. A clogged filter makes the compressor work harder—raising your energy use—so rinsing it under running water and letting it dry fully will help keep your unit running smoothly and efficiently. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-6000-btu-window-air-conditioner-with-remote-115v-white/6589452.p?skuId=6589452 We’d love to help you further optimize your unit’s performance. Installed in an average small box shaped room. The goal was to avoid newer units in the more spendy range-specifically any with the trending “smart inverter” mentions. Seems like there arent any more expensive options which omit that annoying inverter design. We had a midea U-Shaped unit, 8000btu version, which are still sold unfortunately.. This produced a high pitched tone when the compressor phase was going. And eventually that unit had what I thought was metallic whurring coming from its’ cylinder-shaped inside fan. And to top it off it was a black mold magnet inside due to the way it seemed to hold moisture, with few ways to deal with it properly due to where it had to be installed. Some modified theirs to reduce that problem. In comes this “LW6024R” We’ve used this for about a week or so now between cooler cloudy/rainy weather and just breaking 80F lately with some clouds. So nothing very intense. It installed fairly easily. It looks nice compared to others in this price range. Flip out filter. Basic useable modes. We ordered it from in store and it arrived in about 10-days in good shape. But I would definitely search on elsewhere overall. It doesn’t quite hit temp targets unless it is pushed hard by several degrees. But that’s manageable enough. It doesn’t turn the compressor stage on unless it’s well below 78F when in cooling setting or when in energy saver setting. The other modes would be stage 1 or 2 speed fans without cooling working. It is really obnoxiously loud during the actual compressor cooling stage. Loud enough to cut through cheap earplugs like the Midea with that loud high pitched tonal frequencies it had, but this one is like trading that for a surprisingly loud ‘’classic compressor noise.’’ It is indeed like they mention in the manual for it.. The closest they get to mentioning it is that you may hear “high pitched chatter.” That is within the trouble shooting page. We tested it thinking we were in the clear before installing it, but really only heard the fan without the cooling working. *Make sure you actually cause it to kick on. We didn’t want to have it build moisture before installing. So we didn’t run it enough to learn of the drawbacks until it was in. She is loud, the loudest I’ve heard from new.. There’s only left and right louver adjustment without up and down so we are trying to compensate for that too. It seems they are also going styrofoam heavy like others for their internal splitter, which I can get over I suppose. I really feel like LG should pay us to use it, not the other way around. I’m a bit shocked they gave it a pass with that noise. I could only find one video on the tubes which briefly showed someone messing with it. Similar noise from that one but his sound oscillates, rising and falling over seconds compared to this one where it’s a straight loud chatter or rattle and vibrate. Really similar sound though. You should be able to find it easily by searching the model in this description. We’ll be stuck with it for now. That’s about all I can give it. I wish there were higher end options for classic units in this type. Seems like we are in an age of extremes with some of these things. I can only wonder what might happen with use and time, even short term. Don’t just check reviews here, notice it barely pulls a 3/5 if you visit the manufacturers’ site reviews. Midea will forever be on my banned list. I have many LG products which a pretty decent! But this one.. Err..
