One of the benefits of in-ceiling speakers is how easily they disappear into a room. Unfortunately, the sound coming from the back of the speaker doesn’t disappear and can distract those in the rooms above the speakers. MartinLogan offers back boxes, or enclosures, for Motion XT CI In-ceiling speakers. For these situations where sound control is desired, these retrofittable back boxes are the perfect solution. They offer 20dB of noise reduction into adjacent areas and offer the perfect solution to achieve consistent performance where ceiling cavity sizes may vary throughout an installation. Please note that the volume of air in the retrofit enclosure is smaller than that of your ceiling, and bass extension will be reduced. If sound control is not necessary for your unique installation, we recommend not using the back box so the speaker can take advantage of the larger airspace in your ceiling cavity.
Q: Does this back box enclosure have any wireless capabilities?
A: No, this back box enclosure does not have wireless capabilities.
Q: Is the C8HTBXR back box compatible with other MartinLogan speakers?
A: No, the C8HTBXR back box is specifically designed for the MartinLogan XTC8-HT speaker model.
Q: How do the back boxes affect the speaker's bass response?
A: Using the back boxes will reduce bass extension due to the smaller volume of air compared to an open ceiling cavity.
Q: What is the diameter of the cutout required for installing this back box?
A: The required cutout diameter for installation is 9.25 inches.
Q: What is the purpose of the back boxes for these speakers?
A: The back boxes are designed to reduce noise transfer to adjacent rooms, offering 20dB of noise reduction.
A: Hello. Thank you for your question, and we apologize that your question was missed. We had some issues receiving these but believe that is now fixed. It is designed as a back box to fit our XTC8HT speaker. The terminals are attached because the back can seals the back of the speaker, which is normally open, so there must be a way to connect speaker wire. Normally the speakers binding posts are easily accessible, but when the back can is attached, they are now covered. The accessory is not meant to be a universal option but specifically for the C8-HT models. We hope this helps, and thank you for your interest in our products. We hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for your support.

The MC6-HT is the angled version of the MC6. By designing the speaker with a fixed tweeter and woofer angle, we were able to tune the performance of the speaker far more accurately than universal pivoting designs. The MC6-HT is recommended for applications where the listener will spend most of their time not directly underneath the speaker. For example, when being used as the front or center speaker in a home theater, the listener is typically around 10 feet or farther away, yet typical in ceiling speakers are pointing straight down placing the sweet spot directly in front of the screen. By angling the drivers towards the listener, a very noticeable increase in performance is realized. All MartinLogan Motion CI Series speakers feature our signature Folded Motion Tweeter or FMT. This innovative piece of audio technology provides incredible detail, precise clarity, clean output and high efficiency in a small but mighty package. Pairing this tweeter with lightweight woven fiberglass woofers means that Motion CI delivers a clean and balanced sound that is perfectly suited for any application. Whether you listen to music, movies or a little bit of everything, Motion CI gives you a true high-end audio experience at an affordable price. To round out the assortment, pre-construction brackets are available for all models, and all in-ceiling models have square grilles and retrofittable back enclosures available separately.

The Definitive Technology Dymension DM20 Slim Center Channel Speaker features four 4" midrange woofers with composite polymer cones to produce better midrange detail and a 1" custom aluminum oxide tweeter for explicit voice. Its low-profile design allows it to fit below your TV or wall-mounted easily. Pair this speaker with the DM60 slim tower speakers or pair three DM20s with a pair of DM95 on-wall speakers (sold separately) to build an ultimate surround setup and deliver dynamic sound through it. The transparent black cloth grille wrapping this center speaker allows it to disappear virtually in dim room lights, so you can focus on the movie, not your speakers. Be it onscreen movie drama, melodies of your favorite singers, or hearing the sonic details while gaming, this high-performing speaker envelops you from every angle and transports you inside every scene and song. The consistent sound across Definitive Technology gives you the flexibility to mix and match Dymension, Dymension CI, and Mythos speakers, which can be voice-matched to design a complete home system.
