Q: Does this modem include a built-in WiFi router?
A: No, this is a cable modem only. You will need a separate WiFi router for WiFi connectivity.
Q: Why should I buy this modem instead of renting one?
A: Buying this modem can save you money on monthly rental fees charged by cable providers, potentially up to $168 per year.
Q: How many ethernet ports does this modem have?
A: This modem has one Gigabit Ethernet port.
Q: What is the DOCSIS certification of this modem?
A: This modem is DOCSIS 3.0 certified.
Q: Is this modem compatible with Xfinity?
A: Yes, this modem is compatible with Xfinity from Comcast.
Q: What is the maximum internet speed this modem supports?
A: The NETGEAR CM700 cable modem supports speeds up to 1.4 Gbps.
A: No. This is just a cable modem. You will need a wireless router to pair with it. Make certain any wireless routers you may have but are not using are turned off to avoid a Double-NAT issue (which essentially means you are broadcasting two wireless networks on the same IP from your Internet Service Provider). If you already have a modem/router combination running (it seems to be standard issue to install them in the States now and charge customers monthly leasing fees), make sure to contact your service provider and inform them that you will be using your own cable modem and/or wireless router so they can place the one they gave you in Bridge Mode to avoid a Double-NAT issue. I'd also recommend turning in any equipment you are not using to avoid paying monthly fees and just use your own cable modem and wireless router/mesh system, Hope this helps.
Q: Will this work with comcast phone bundled system
A: I bought this modem for myself and my son who also has Comcast bundled services. It worked just fine with Comcast, met their requirements for a modem and it increased the internet speed that he received.

Best Buy was super helpful in knowing what I needed. The Netgear Cable Modem is super fast and easy to set up. I now have a couple of home wifi setups that will extend the Netgear Cable Modem. Great price too. DOCSIS 3.0 matches Xfinity.

I expected 2 things: 1) A nighare trying to get it provisioned on my ISP network. 2) I was going to lose speed because it wasn't their product. Wrong on both counts. Setup was very easy, no issues with cable company, and after checking the bandwith, it was the same as I had prior.

I recently moved from so cal to nor cal b/c of my career. I had to get a new service provider (at&t) which was hands down the WORST service/customer service I have ever experienced. I made the decision ro switch to X-finity, but i opted to use my own equipment. I read great things about netgear and decided to give them a chance. Not only do I have lightning internet, but I also don't pay the extra $18 equipment rental fee. I highly recommend any netgear products. (My condo is 988 sq ft so i went with the 700 model).
