Q: Will this system work with a combination modem/router? (A gateway--Motorola)
A: Yes, the Orbi will work with a combo modem/router. You can either set the modem/router to "modem only" mode, and use the Orbi as a replacement router, which would be the most common usage. You can also continue to use your modem/router as a router, and add Orbi as an access point.
A: If your work is within your home, yes; otherwise, no. The second device is not a router (like the first); rather it is an "extender" which basically clones (and boosts) the #1 router's signal and makes it appear that you have one very strong wi-fi signal throughout the space covered.
Q: Do I need a modem for this system or is this a Modem/Router all in 1 system?
A: You will need a modem as this model does not include that. They do make one with a modem. The model is CBK40-100NAS. But check with your provider to see if compatible.
Q: Is there a monthly payment for these like other wireless Wi-Fi? If so, what is the price range?
A: undefined
A: 1) they're not "speakers"; they are (respectively) a) a primary wireless transmitter and b) a wireless repeater 2) as above, there are two units in the package, but you can purchase additional repeater units.
A: This is not an ISP; rather, it is a wireless transmitter + a wireless repeater (placed some distance from the primary transmitter) which boosts/extends the wireless signal to further locations.
A: No, the Netgear router does not require cable.
