This is a solid lens to work with. The macro is incredibly impressive, I do agree with some other reviewers that if you use this lens like normal (non-macro) photography, the focus hunt does take much longer than usual as it cycles through all the ranges. Turning the limiter on does help somewhat. The build quality is great though and it is a very sharp lens. So, I can recommend it as a good lens for it's mostly intended macro purpose.

There is something about this lens I am not super keen on but can put my finger on it. It is good for what it is and it is super compact. But for macro I'd go the extra mile and grab the 105 ... for a standard 50mm I'd grab the 1.8
