This brand new 1/72 scale diecast model of the Hetzer (Early) Tank Destroyer "#114, Hilde, Nove Mesto, Czechoslovakia" (1945) by Panzerstahl is a limited edition collector’s item featuring detailed exterior and true-to-scale accuracy. The model comes in the manufacturer’s original unopened packaging and includes a plastic display showcase for protection. Made of diecast metal with some plastic parts, it measures approximately 2.5 inches in length (3.375 with cannon), 1.375 inches in width, and 1.25 inches in height, providing durability and a realistic weight. Pad-printed markings and placards ensure long-lasting detail that won’t fade or peel, while realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, and surface features offer an authentic representation of the real vehicle. The Sd.Kfz. 138/2 Jagdpanzer 38 "Hetzer" was a German tank destroyer introduced late in World War II, designed for mobility and firepower in a compact package. The early production variant, such as "Hilde," featured a 75mm Pak 39 L/48 gun mounted on a chassis based on the Czech-designed Panzer 38(t), with a low profile and excellent maneuverability ideal for ambush tactics. In 1945, "Hilde" was deployed in Czechoslovakia as part of the German Army’s defensive efforts against advancing Soviet forces. The Jagdpanzer 38, with its sloped armor and powerful gun, was capable of engaging Soviet T-34 tanks and infantry from long distances, using the dense forests and hilly terrain to strike from cover. Despite its effectiveness in hit-and-run tactics, by the spring of 1945, German defenses were collapsing under the overwhelming Soviet offensive, with "Hilde" participating in last-ditch efforts to hold key positions before being abandoned as the Soviets closed in on Prague. This 1:72 scale model captures the distinctive features of the Hetzer, including its sloped armor and 75mm gun, offering a detailed and historically accurate representation of a key German tank destroyer used during the final months of World War II, making it an essential addition for collectors and military history enthusiasts.
