Prior to this lense I was using the kit lenses (I know not a fair comparison!) But it's amazing! Specially for indoor photography with small areas it does a great job. The only thing, it's a little too heavy.

First I cannot fault this lens for the photo quality. I thought the pictures I took with this lens were sharp and high quality. That being said I mostly do video and the focus motor on this lens is loud! Even with my high pass filter at 150 you could still here the focus motor in the video. I would say if you are just wanting to take pictures and don't want to pay the crazy high Canon prices then pick this lens up. If you want it for video you may want to think again. The only way this works for video would be if you have lav mic's; otherwise keep looking. I ended up returning this lens, but if your focus if photography then I don't think you'll be upset with the quality of this lens!
