A: Hi there! Thank you for your question regarding the performance of the Sony BRAVIA XR8B in various lighting conditions. The BRAVIA XR8B features a high-performance OLED panel which provides an exceptional picture in both bright and dark settings, though its inherent strengths lie in low-light environments. Here is a breakdown of its performance: - Dark Rooms (Where it Excels): Due to the nature of OLED technology, the BRAVIA XR8B achieves absolute black and infinite contrast. This means that in a dark room, details in shadows are preserved, and colors pop dramatically against a truly black background. This is where the TV's performance is truly unmatched. - Highly Lighted Rooms (Excellent Performance): The BRAVIA XR8B is designed with a high-luminance OLED panel and a temperature sensor. This technology allows the TV to precisely control light for greater color and contrast in highlights, resulting in brighter pictures than previous OLED generations. This allows it to perform very decently and deliver a great image even in a bright room. Here is our recommendation: While the BRAVIA XR8B performs beautifully in bright rooms, if your primary goal is to have a TV that excels in highly bright environments (e.g., a room with large windows receiving direct, intense sunlight), you may want to consider our Mini LED models. For superior peak brightness to combat intense glare, we recommend checking out our Sony BRAVIA 5 or BRAVIA 9 Mini LED models. We hope this helps you choose the perfect TV for your viewing space and thanks for considering Sony! Regards, Dominick

A: Hi SB, Thank you for your interest in the Sony BRAVIA 8 and XR8B! To clarify, neither of these models feature a QD-OLED panel, both use our premium OLED technology. However, if you're specifically looking for a QD-OLED display, you might want to check out our latest BRAVIA 8 II, which does include that advanced QD-OLED technology. As for which TV is better for watching movies and playing on your PS5, both the BRAVIA 8 and XR8B deliver outstanding performance. They share the same gaming features such as 4K/120fps support, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Dolby Vision for gaming and HDR tone mapping—ensuring a smooth and immersive gaming experience. That said, the BRAVIA 8 includes an XR Contrast Booster, which enhances brightness and depth in darker scenes, giving it a slight edge in overall picture quality, especially for movies. We hope this helps you make the best choice for your setup, and thanks for considering Sony! Regards, Dominick

On my 2nd Sony, first with OLED, and to say I'm impressed with this TV would be an understatement. Out of box it was a bit dim/darker than I like...part of it's initial power saving settings, but a quick adjustment of the gamma and black levels and it's right where I wanted it. Stand is more than high/wide enough for my soundbar and plenty of room for a bigger/longer one if I upgrade that. The picture is beautiful! Even caught myself watching movies and shows I had already seen just to experience them this sharp! The only thing I would change, and it's minor, would be a remote that also has ff/rewind buttons to go forward/back faster or slower, but that's nitpicking as I can still do that at a basic level with this remote. Fantastic picture, excellent price, zero complaints.....and I'm a picky old man!

We recently replaced our LG OLED 55" with this 65" Sony Bravia, and we've been very happy! Frankly, we were happy with our LG as well, but we've had it for 8 years so we felt it was time for an upgrade. I set out assuming I'd get another LG but felt on the Labor Day sale, this 65" model for $1399 was the better deal. We were happy with our LG but it wasn't like we were particularly brand loyal...I just thought I'd look at an LG since we were familiar with it. But at the end of the day, moving up to the Bravia, with some extra sound features plus a better Smart TV set up, was what swayed the decision. Understand, if you've never had an OLED before, the baseline for the picture quality is AWESOME! So we're happy with this picture, and since we only use if for movies and sports (no gaming), this model seemed like the best value for the money!
