TCL - 85" Class Q6LR Series 4K UHD HDR QLED Smart TV with Roku TV (2026)

Big screen televisions are becoming bigger and bigger. The standard used to be 60 -inches, but now you can go much bigger and better for your home entertainment. With the TCL 85-inch Q6LR, you get a wonderful big screen television which works well in almost any setting. The first impression out of the box is that this thing is big. In the store it looks one way, but you get it in the house, it just looks bigger. It is over 6 feet wide. You will need some space to put this up. I was replacing a 55-inch television, and it is not even comparable. You will want to note that you likely need two people to handle this television. You have two main options for display. If you want to stand it up, it comes with foot mounts that you will need to install. These mounts need two Philips head screws to be inserted. Otherwise, you can wall mount this television. At a little under 70 pounds, it is reasonable to do. The television is ready to handle a VESA mount. You can do it yourself with the right equipment, but it is definitely a 2 man job. It may be easier just to get someone to do it. Once you get it set up and turn it on, the rest of the setup is easy. You will need to connect to your internet either wirelessly or via Ethernet. Then if you have Roku already, you can just log in to your account and load in your apps. Otherwise, you will need to set that up. You have a large variety of apps that you can download. If you want to connect HDMI equipment, there are 3 ports to use so you can have many extras connected at one time. Let’s talk about performance. The picture quality is very good. This is a QLED 4K system first off. This also means it has LED backlight. I have this television in a living room with a lot of ambient light during daytime hours. The television performs very well in this setting. The picture is still bright and I had no issues. At night, this is where I notice part of the backlight. The blacks tend to be a bit grey. If there is a completely black screen like at the beginning of a movie, you may see some lighter circles. It isn’t bad, but you do know it is there. With that said, I enjoy watching the television. The refresh rate is 60 hertz, but even sports like college football look very clear. It did not have jitter or other problems watching sports. Even high action movies look great. You can play video games on the system. The television has a game accelerator which allows for smooth gaming. I was surprised a bit by the sound quality. My previous television did not seem to put out as much sound as this one does. Even quiet scenes have a better balance than my older television. I don’t have to keep adjusting the volume during certain scenes. Even music sounds all right on this model. If you really want better sound, you can also pair it with a soundbar though. I think the biggest issue is just making sure you have the right set up and space for this television. Viewing angle is not a major issue. Even offset angles allow for good viewing. You will want to make sure it fits your intended space though. Also, you want to make sure you have enough distance back from the screen for optimal viewing. You don’t want to be 4-5 feet away from this screen. With that in mind though, this should work quite well in a living room, family room, or media room. In the end, I am very pleased with the TCL 85-inch Q6LR television. It offers a great picture and looks great with sports and movies. Even in well lit rooms, you should not have any issues enjoying the screen. At night, there is a little bit of grey instead of black, but I really did not mind it. If you are looking for a good picture at a good price, I think you will like the TCL 85-inch Q6LR. I highly recommend it.

If you're looking for a great 85" TV that won't break the bank, then this TCL Q6LR 4K is the way to go! Not only does it have a great picture, but it looks great as well. It has 4K availability and the sound is great - even for TV speakers. With 50 watts of power it offers DTS Virtual X which provides 3D sound from TV speakers, and it can process Dolby Atmos from movies and television shows. The Remote works well although I wish it had a number pad. I watch a lot of live TV and although the TCL provides a free, live channel guide, (and over 500 free channels and broadcast TV), there are no number keys to be able to enter a channel number. You either have to scroll up/down, or use the "speak" button. The Q6LR is well equipped with 3 HDMI (one of which is eARC), coax, ethernet, optical, and USB inputs. I have this paired with a JBL A/V receiver and highly recommend using ultra high-speed HDMI 2.1 cables to prevent "handshake" communication errors. The picture is crisp and clear and with 120hz (up to 144hx) refresh rate. It has over a billion colors, 4K ultra HD resolution, Quantum DOT technology, and HDR Pro with Dolby Vision. These features on the Q6 models enhance viewing by using brighter images, high brightness, and LED backlighting. The Q6 has Google Chromecast built in as well as Apple Airplay 2, and it also works with Amazon Alexa, Google assistant, and Apple Home Kit. Since Roku is built in, there's no need for an external streaming device hooked up to your HDMI ports and you can also use the Roku phone app as a second remote. All in all, this is a fantastic TV with a great picture and great sound. If you haven't yet purchased a TCL, it's definitely worth the investment!

The TCL 85” Q6LR 4K TV is a great tv that checks off a lot of boxes for most people looking for a new tv. Great picture, good sound, easy connectivity, and an easy familiar Roku system and Roku remote. Like any 85” tv this is a huge box. Setup took a little bit and you can use a second set of hands. I did most of the unboxing myself, albeit very carefully. Still needed another person to help move the tv into position once I got the legs attached. TV itself is beautiful though. Has a nice slim bezel frame. Setup once I plugged in the tv was super easy. Connected to WiFi and the tv scanned the hdmi inputs to help me setup my connections. I connected a 4K player and I used the hdmi arc connection to hookup a soundbar. No issues whatsoever. Was impressed everything went so smoothly. The TV has 3 total hdmi ports plus usb and antenna hookups. The 4K picture is amazing. This 85” supports HDR 10, HDR 10+ and HLM. I watched Tron Ares on this and wow. Picture and color really popped. It also comes with auto low latency gaming mode. Makes it so there is not shutter or lag while gaming. Used this a little bit on my PS5 and had a great experience. Also watched some live baseball and noticed no significant jutter or blocking. Good tv for live sports. Believ the refresh rate is 60 hz. 120 would be optimal but 60 is definitely serviceable. Overall a beautiful tv. I wouldn’t say it’s entry level. Still close to $900. But compared to other higher end pricier tvs it’s a great deal. Get a lot of features, customization and quality for a decent price point. Plus if you love the Roku interface this is also a great selling point. Roku remote, setup, etc. I would recommend this tv!

When it's said that bigger is better this 85" TCL proves that to be true. I went from a 75" to the 85" and really didn't understand the impact it would have on my viewing. Let's start with basics, this is an integrated Roku TV so connecting to streaming is simple. I have mine setup on a wired ethernet but it will work wirelessly as well. Since I have this in my home theater room, I used the ARC HDMI port to send the surround sound to the AV system. Sound output is absolutely amazing using Dolby Atmos. Picture quality is crisp and clear even with fast action scenes. Colors are rich with a number of predefined settings to choose from and a custom you can adjust for your environment. In my room it is typically on the darker side but even with the lights turned up the picture quality was excellent. Some of the bonus features include the ability to use voice control from the remote and also is compatible with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a large TV that delivers on both picture and sound making the viewing experience very theater like.

This 85" TCL TV looks great! The TV has bright colors, decent built in sound, and excellent color distribution. The backlight does a nice job at evenly spreading out the lighting so that it doesn't look spotty, although in very dark scenes you might notice some brighter areas. The contrast is good, but in dark rooms the backlight may overpower the bright areas a bit too much. I mounted this up on the wall and the sound is acceptable and clear for now, although I would highly recommend a sound bar (which I will be doing later.) The TV only weighs about 65lbs so not too challenging to mount with 2 people. The colors in 4K pop out vividly, more than I expected, and the color settings allow for different ambiance. The 4K looks sharp and makes use of the 85 inch size. While it's 60 hertz natively, the "accelerator" does smoothen things out, at the expense of a 4k image. Despite all that, the TV performs nicely for a budget-friendly large TV and I'd recommend it. The Roku OS works well and is snappy. It does.what it needs to.
