Q: how many lights do you need for 10' tree
A: I have a 9.5 foot tree and I used 2 strings of 600 each. Its plenty, and looks good. But it would look even better with more. Only issue with more lights, the more lights, the less room for ornaments. Some may disagree but because of the patterns displayed by the lights, its expected to be on a somewhat flat surface, not run up and down every branch. Its personal preference obviously but thats what I've done. But, now you're making it more difficult to put ornaments on. You've effectively built up a wall on the outer layer of your tree. And the more lights in the way the more difficult it will be to get ornaments hung.
Q: Can I use half of the 600 twinkley lightset?
A: If you’d like. The lights are split into two equal lengths connecting to the main controller. If you only connect one length, you’ll have half the 600 lights, light up…and the other half can stay in the box.
Q: If you choose not to use the music can the lights work by themselves?
A: The lights work independently of the music, it’s an optional add-on
A: The music feature of this Twinkly package is usb powered and uses a microphone in the usb device to listen to whatever sound is playing near it in the room. You can use whatever source of sound you like, there is no music provided. If you have the television on in the same room it will also pic up on the usb mic and change the lights. To use the music feature you have to change the mode to music in the Twinkly app and then choose the style of lighting that goes best with your music.
Q: Can these lights be used outside around edge of a garage or roof?
A: Hi! This product is IP44 certified, This means that they can be used also outdoor safely within this range of temperature: from -15 °C to 40 °C or 14°F to 104°F Consider placing the plug and the controller in a proof location, and to avoid plunges into the water for a long time (pools, gutters, puddles… ). One other good solution, if you don't have any safe place near the string, is to buy a waterproof box for plugs, which stores both the controller and the plug itself
Q: How long are the strings themselves?
A: The lighted portion is 48 meters (157.5 feet) and the lead is 3.5 meters long (11.5 feet)
