Make your car smart with the Verizon Hum. It lets you set speed alerts and warns you when it's going outside preset boundaries, and you can even decode engine lights so that you can make the right fixes. The Verizon Hum is an easy way to stay connected to your car.
A: Yes it has an app. The unit is directly related to Verizon cell service where the unit is located. So bad cell signal, no locate service. I owned this unit for 5 days and called tech support 10 times. Try Mastrack, a true GPS service.
A: NOTE: I bought my first one over three years ago. That I am aware of, there IS an activation fee for the first one you activate. Activation process when bought from Best Buy is a little different than buying direct from Verizon Vehicle. Just follow the instructions that came with it. Normally you have to agree to a 2-year contract when you activate the unit. If you cancel before that 2 years is up you have to pay a penalty. You also have to return the OBD II unit. They told me they didn't care about the speaker unit but I did have to return the OBD II unit. Make sure, if you do this, that you get a receipt showing the numbers particular to that unit. NOTE: If the OBD II unit is past the 2-year contract and goes bad (such as I had recently) you do NOT have to return the unit or pay a penalty. You may get a form letter verifying disconnect/cancellation that says you WILL be charged, but you won't (again, personal experience very recently). But you do have to call them and have it deleted from your account. I have to admit, too, that their customer service is like no other I've experienced in the last few years. I actually received two phone calls regarding my phone call to cancel/disconnect a dead/no longer working unit and my response to a survey regarding that phone call. I THEN received a follow-up phone call regarding THAT phone call, making sure that everything was okay. I was VERY impressed. Especially when the lady told me she had listened to the recordings of those service calls and she apologized, saying that additional training would be given the employee. Oh, and yes, when I called in about the first thing they said was that the call was being recorded. Hope this helps!
Q: Is the tracker easy to install? How does it work?
A: YES. As simple as plugging it into a place which every car and truck has right by your right knee cap. Order the app, install it, and you're good to go.
A: Yes, there is a monthly fee. It's about $10 per month per unit, plus all those pesky little fees and such. When I got my first hum it was supposed to be about $15 per month. When adding an additional unit those would be about $12. I was with hum for a few months and had two units (one on a Chevy Silverado and the other on a Ford Mustang) when I received a letter that shocked me. It said that the monthly price was dropping to $10 per month, plus fees. It's been that ever since. Who lowers their monthly price?!?
