All of our inserts require a minimum of 15-20" of vertical airflow from the top of the hood before executing a 90° turn or elbow and cannot be ducted directly out the back. For outdoor range hood inserts it is recommended to install the unit at a minimum of 36" and a maximum of 42” from the grill top.
