Excellent for my various devices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Several of my devices can use the various types of toslink cables. I hope that I can get the cables in various lengths longer than 6 feet.

Works great with ChromeCast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Toshlink cable to mini-Toshlink works great with Google Chromecast. You won't be disappointed. Digital sound quality and connection pairs perfectly with a receiver that has optical inputs. Optical input is superior to analog input because there is no conversion to analog by the Chromecast D/A converter. The Digital signal goes directly in my Pioneer Elite receiver (with higher quality audio components) for conversion to the analog signal before amplification. No degradation in sound quality for maximum fidelity! The result is highest quality sound. Agreed - this cable is not a named brand cable. But digital is digital. The fiber was optically good enough to transmit the signal to the receiver, and for that reason - functionally - it works. So why pay the high prices? Generic in this case gets the job done. Agreed - I could afford the more expensive cable if I have a Pioneer Elite receiver. But I guess I was just feeling a little cheap. So long as the cable is functional. I guess with that mentality, that's why I can afford good stuff like that receiver and the other components. Agreed - I should stop talking at this point. :) Thanks for reading and hope this review was helpful.

Helpful tool for Google chrome audio
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this for a Google chrome audio to connect from the oreo cookie looking device, to the digital input of my receiver. It sounds great in this mode, too bad the device was killed off. I haven't had any problems with the cable. the toslink design can be a pain because it's difficult to figure out the x-y-z rotation/orientation of the plug so you know you're putting it in correctly, i was worried about damaging the connector.

Bought to use on SPDIF laptop. Perfect!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this cable being sold at Best Buy for chromecast but after some research I found this cable will work with any 3.5mm optical SPDIF ports found on most high end laptops. So I bought it and it works flawlessly with my laptop to audio interface. I couldn't find a 3.5mm optic SPDIF at any local store and only online for $50+. So im thankful my local best buy has this in stock and at a way better price then anywhere else.

Works as advertised
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I listen solely to compressed music such as Pandora cast to my Chromecast audio device from a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet vice high resolution audio so I'm not entirely certain I'm getting any benefit. But it does sound good to me. I get to know I'm squeezing out every bit of sound available using the optical audio cable. One of these years I'm going to take the effort to listen to higher resolution music.

Works Well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Yamaha receiver only had one 3.5 mm jack which was on the front of the receiver. Plugging my Chromecast Audio in there created an eyesore and a tempting thing for my toddler to yank on. Now I can plug my Chromecast Audio into the back of my receiver and get great audio quality to boot.

Good as any brand
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually buy higher priced name branded cords for all my audio home gear but this works just as well as a Bose or Monster cable for a fraction of the price. I still recommend the good cables for HDMI and other crucial connections like TV to sound system and TV to 4K Blu-Ray player, etc.

Works as expected-good quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia toslink to mini-toslink cable is a quality cable with good performance and quality. I hear no sound loss, dropouts or the like, and it's a great accessory to have with the Chromecast Audio. Another reliable Insignia product. My only complaint is that it was a little pricy at $15 for a 6' cable. Otherwise, GREAT!

Q: Questionwould this toslink cable work on head phones. need to watch tv with the sound coming thru ear phones and not the tv. so I do not disturb anyone. if not can you make other sugestions? my Samsung tv only has an audio but not audio out. audio out (optical)
Asked by elbobo.
- A:Answer Hello! This cable is designed for chromecast systems. There are certain adapters that will allow you swap connection types such as this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-optical-coaxial-digital-to-analog-converter-black/4226000.p?skuId=422600 However, it depends on your television having an audio output. We recommend that you check with your TV's manufacturer for additional option on connecting audio systems to the set. Regards, Daniel T. - Insignia Support.

Q: QuestionCould I plug this into my iPad and connect it to a sound bar?
Asked by Gabe.
- A:Answer No. The iPad does not have optical outputs. Although, if you were streaming to another device that does have optical outputs, like a Chromecast, then it would work, but I do not think that is what you meant. If you want to connect your iPad output for sound to be played on a soundbar, please consider getting a soundbar with BlueTooth(tm) capability.

Q: QuestionIs this the same as a digital audio output cable. I need it for my tv to connect my sound bar.
Asked by Any.
- A:Answer Generally, the digital audio output cable would be a Toshlink to Toshlink cable and not the mini-Toshlink that is associated with this product. Actually, for digital signal, it can also be a coax cable, but most modern systems now use either the optical Toshlink cable or HDMI cable to transmit digital audio signal, or, in the latter case, audio and video signal. Of course, there is also the analog connections as well, but the digital is the route to go if your equipment is capable.
