Hisense - 55" Class U7 Series MiniLED QLED UHD 4K HDR Smart Google TV (2026)

The Hisense ULED U7 2026 TV has a lot going for it: bright, pitch perfect colors, near inky blacks, fast variable refresh rates, one of the best speaker systems on a flat panel TV, plenty of input options, and the easy-to-use Google interface. The only cons I encountered were a slightly restrictive viewing angle and a few software glitches when passing audio from internal applications to an external sound bar. Still, whether watching HD or 4K content, everything displayed looks great. Prior to this TV, I have never owned a Hisense TV, but the U7SG has really impressed me with its level of polish and features. This is an easy TV to recommend at its price point and even gives much more expensive TVs a run for their money. SETUP: Hisense includes the TV, Remote, Power Cable, stand base, stand brackets, and screws for the stand. I will say that I found set up to be a two-person job. If you are opening the TV from the top as instructed, a few components will be at the top of the box, but the base for the stand will be further down in a lower section of foam. You will need to take the TV out, being careful not to put pressure on the screen. Resting the TV on the foam included will help get the TV off the floor and make installing the stand much easier. STAND SETUP: The stand itself is designed for two settings. One setting has the TV resting near the base and the other setting raises the TV up enough to give space for soundbars. In my testing, it was enough of a cushion that I could easily set my Sony soundbar with built-in riser underneath without blocking the screen. The adjustment can give you two or three inches. It is a nice touch. You first connect two screws to the TV and the stand slides over. You then secure the TV to the stand with the additional four screws. The included documentation implied that two of the screws were in the stand itself, but I found those screws individually wrapped with the other mounting hardware. This is an exceptionally thin stand base, and Hisense has included some cable management in each leg of the stand for those that wish to keep their cables more discreet. WALL MOUNT: The TV comes compatible with standard VESA mounts and secured by M6 screws. I like the stand that came with this TV, but the ability to mount the TV to a swivel base with a bit more height is a great option. I have assessed both the included stand and a separate VESA swivel mount and both options worked great. EXPERIENCE: The Google TV setup takes about ten minutes out of the box, and it goes without saying that if you are on an Android phone, set up is a breeze as account information is transferred effortlessly with a click of a button on the phone. This is not my first TV with a Google interface, and I genuinely prefer the Google TV interface over nearly every other option out there. TV FEATURES: The TV comes with a built-in OTA tuner. The tuner is NextGenTV capable. I was able to get local broadcasts with 4K, HDR, and interactive content. The TV is also Apple Airplay compatible. Streaming content from my Apple iPad via Airplay was simple and quick. The TV comes with 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. One port is designed for eARC / ARC, but all four ports are HDMI 2.1. In addition, there is a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, ethernet port, and optical audio out. The TV comes with Alexa capabilities built in. With the USB ports, you can hook up gaming controllers, web cameras, or USB storage options to stream and view content on the TV. REMOTE: This is one of the bigger remote controls that I have used with a TV in a few years. A few buttons on the remote have backlighting when the remote detects motion. It works, but I would have liked it if the backlighting had lasted a bit longer. Remote is nearly twice the size of a FireTV remote and three times the size of an AppleTV remote; it is bigger. I do not have a problem with that, but users who struggle to keep all their remotes stored in one place might prefer a smaller option. With HDMI CEC enabled, I was able to use the TV’s remote to control devices connected to the TV such as the FireStick while using the TV remote’s volume control to turn the sound bar system up and down. PICTURE QUALITY: This Hisense TV is branded as a ULED which differs from an OLED. With an OLED, each pixel turns on or off individually whereas the ULED has zone lighting. Prior to testing this Hisense, I would have said I preferred OLED hands down for better contrasts and blacks, but the technology Hisense is employing here works very well to the point that I would honestly say OLED and ULED black levels are a coin toss for me. The contrast was much better than I expected. Colors just pop on this TV. The Quantum Dot tech produces some of the best colors I have seen on a 4K display and they were pitch perfect after minimal tweaking out of the box. Watching Dolby Vision test videos and 4K versions of color rich content, I was consistently amazed at how good color reproduction was with this TV. If you truly want to impress friends and family while showing the TV off, put on a 4K version of one of Disney’s 2D animated films. The colors are amazing. One clear winner between this TV and an OLED alternative is with the brightness. This TV gets super bright and I found myself turning down the brightness on all viewing modes. Because of the brightness capabilities, you can rest assured that the TV will look great in bright and dark rooms. The TV has numerous adjustments that can be made to brightness, color, A.I. enhancements, and motion adjustments. I highly recommend CINEMA mode for motion enhancements. I personally thought Cinema Mode was the most filmic. Turning off motion enhancements entirely resulted in a noticeable stutter in content that operated at lower frames per second. GAMING / PC CONNECTIVITY: I hooked the TV up to a gaming laptop for several hours of gaming and this display performs great. Hisense advertises that the TV has AMD FreeSync. FreeSync is a technology to synchronize the display with the source to provide smooth motion on screen. If you are like me and have gaming laptops or computers with Nvidia GSYNC, you should know that the two technologies, while not officially recognized as compatible, are essentially backwards compatible. On my NVIDIA based machines, I was able to turn GSYNC on and achieve the desired results. Just make sure you are using a high-quality HDMI 2.1 cable when you hook the TV up to your gaming device. I first used an older cable and while I got picture, HDR did not function on the older cable. With the appropriate cables, my TV detected automatically that I was hooking up a PC, but I still had to enable some game mode features such as enhanced refresh rate. CON: Viewing Angles are limited. Unfortunately this is one limitation of the traditional LCD display that is still a bit evident here. Having said that, I do not think the viewing angles are awful. Hisense has clearly made great strides here, but the TV clearly looks at its best when you are viewing it from dead center. Realistically, that is how most people will be viewing the TV anyways, but it is something to keep in mind. AUDIO: Hisense has included some of the best speakers I have ever heard on a flat panel display if not the best. This sound system is great. The TV has a built-in subwoofer and spatial speakers. It sounds incredibly good. Audio can get a bit distorted at higher listening levels, but I cannot think of a better sound system with a TV than this. I set up a surround soundbar system with this TV. Using the EARC HDMI port (HDMI 3) and a higher quality HDMI cable, using the TV with a soundbar is easy. The TV’s remote works to control the volume. Unfortunately, all I could see when changing the volume of the soundbar was an indicator on screen showing the volume levels were being changed. I could not see a number associated with a volume level. I detected a glitch with the audio passthrough that I really hope gets fixed in a future software update. The TV is equipped with an audio passthrough option so that a receiver or soundbar can decode the audio and reproduce the sound instead of having the TV process the audio. With external HDMI devices, passthrough audio worked perfectly fine, but if I wanted to watch Disney+ or AppleTV on the apps I downloaded to the TV itself, I could only get a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal when audio was passed directly to the soundbar or receiver. I prefer passthrough audio with TVs because often decoding ATMOS audio with TVs can cause stuttering or performance glitches, but I did not encounter that with this TV. So, having the TV decode the audio instead of passing it through works, but I would have preferred passthrough to be on all the time for the best compatibility with a receiver or soundbar. As of writing this, I have not found a great solution to this problem beyond turning audio passthrough on if I am using a device connected to the TV’s HDMI input. CONCLUSION: If you stuck around this long, I think it should be obvious that I have really enjoyed this TV. Picture quality has really surprised me. Colors and brightness are great. The built-in speakers make great sound. The stand that comes with the TV is minimalistic and simple to install. My only minor complaints are with the viewing angles and the passthrough audio glitches when using the TVs downloaded or built-in applications. Make sure you are using HDMI 2.1 cables for your devices to get the best features from the TV and be prepared to turn the brightness down a bit lest you wish to go blind. The TV truly is bright. Hopefully, this breakdown has been helpful. As I said at the intro, this was my first Hisense TV, but I am recommending this model to family and friends. I think it is a great TV.

The Hisense U7 series 55-inch TV is our first new large-format TV in almost 20 years. As our old one recently stopped working, this gave us the perfect opportunity to finally upgrade. While the screen diagonal on this model is a bit smaller at 55”, the unit itself is considerably lighter at just under 30.5 lbs without the stand and 37.5 with, compared to the hefty 50 lbs of our previous 60” TV. Its overall profile is also smaller since it has razor thin bezels at the top and side with only a 1/2" chin along the bottom. This TV was simple to set up, and we had it up and running in under 10 minutes after unboxing, attaching the stand, and connecting it to the internet via WiFi. When assembling the stand, you can set the height of the TV to high or low by attaching its supports to different mounting points, though the height difference is only around 1-1/4”. The angled supports both have removable covers at the back that allow you to use them for cord management. You can optionally mount the TV to the wall by removing the four large screws on the back and attaching it to an appropriately sized 400mm x 400mm VESA-compatible and weight-capacitated bracket. The built-in WiFi 6E card lets you to connect to the 6 GHz band for a faster, stronger, and more stable connection, if your network supports it. As the TV uses Google TV as its native OS, you’ll have the option to scan a QR code to set it up using a mobile device or manually log into a Google account using the remote to key in your credentials. It not only supports Google Home and Chromecast but also Apple’s AirPlay and HomeKit. For inputs, the device has four 2.1 HDMI ports and a coaxial for antenna and cable connections. All HDMI ports support 4K @ 165Hz, while only HDMI 3 is eARC compatible, allowing you to transmit high-quality, uncompressed audio like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and multi-channel surround sound to a compatible soundbar or receiver. It also supports CEC, so you can control the external audio device’s volume and power using the TV’s remote and have both devices power on and off simultaneously. These is an optical audio out port and an Ethernet jack for a wired Internet connection as well. The set has two USB-A ports: the upper one is USB 2.0 which delivers 0.5 A power output, and the lower one is USB 3.0 with 1 A power output and faster data transfer speeds. You can connect a USB stick with photos, music, or movies to view on the TV or use them to power a streaming device. The remote control is backlit and even lights up automatically when the remote is picked up in dim lighting. However, only the “main” function keys in dark gray with white icons are backlit, like settings, volume, channel, mute, and menu; the power and one-touch buttons for various streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube, are not backlit. There is also a dedicated Free TV key that launches Google TV Freeplay for viewing live programming that you don't need to pay a subscription fee to watch, like local news and classic TV shows. I like that the remote does not need a line of site to the TV to work, and it has a customizable favorite button that you can set to change to a specific input or launch a particular app or function. The image quality of the display is amazingly sharp and clear with vivid colors, good contrast, and high brightness even during the day and under bright lighting conditions. The maximum resolution of the display is 4K at 3840 by 2160 pixels and compared to the 1080p that we were used to, has super fine detail and looks very realistic. In addition, you can apply AI enhancement and upscaling for additional improvement to quality and clarity, from motion smoothing to noise reduction. With most of these options set to medium or high, when watching video or movies with fast-paced action, I didn’t notice much blur, digital artifacts, or graininess. Even from a close distance, the pixels are so tiny that I couldn’t make them out. The surface of the display is matte, with an anti-glare/reflection coating, so I did not see many reflections or light halos from windows and fixtures reflected on the display. This TV has an integrated 2.1.2 speaker system on the back, which actually sounds really nice. While not as immersive as a true surround sound system, the virtualized surround sound gives you a sense of depth and movement that's more three-dimensional than stereo alone. That said, the max sound output at 50 Watts is more than it needs. I keep it set at around 15 to 20 out of 100, and when I attempted to listen to higher volumes, the sound started to get deafening and distorted above 50. I’ve not gone above 70 because I'm worried about blowing out the speakers. In lieu of increasing the volume, you can enable voice enhancement to make them clearer and louder without affecting the overall volume level. Another feature that I really like is the ability to connect with multiple Bluetooth devices simultaneously. For example, I connected the display to my Bluetooth gaming controller as well as wireless headphones and was able to privately listen to the television while gaming. With Bluetooth 5.0 or higher audio devices, there was no noticeable delay and perfect voice to video sync. The game controller’s response time was also instant and lag-free. The TV is compatible with various input devices in addition to the remote control, like a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse. Gaming on this TV is great because it has a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, for games that support it, offering a smoother, more immersive experience compared to lower refresh rates. Both the remote and the TV itself have built-in microphones, so you can use hands-free voice control. Just press and hold the mic icon on the remote to search or give commands to Google’s AI assistant, Gemini. When the TV is on, you can also enable the wake word, “Hey Google,” but if you don't want the mic to be actively listening, there is a physical switch adjacent to its power button that allows you to disable the microphone. Overall, this Hisense television delivers an enjoyable viewing experience through its clear and rich picture quality, great sound, and ease of use. The built-in OS is super smooth and responsive and has everything I need to enjoy movies, music, and gaming on it, with fast internet connectivity, access to apps and streaming services, and multipoint Bluetooth support.

To meet the HDR 10+ (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Vision IQ standards the display has to attain both a very high brightness level and a very dark black level coupled with a vast range of colors presented with very subtle shading between the millions of pixels on the screen. The 2,000+ local dimming zones give deep blacks and the 10 bit color with the multiple HDR and Dolby Vision systems supported create a very wide range of colors and brightness levels. It creates an effective 480 frame per second refresh rate (Tru-Motion 480) with each of the 8.3 million pixels set to the exact color/brightness level required to achieve the truest image. This also includes upscaling HD content (which has only 2 million pixels in the image) by interpolating the correct color and brightness to the full 8.3 million pixels of the 4K display. Most TVs produce 250-350 nits of light output, but this Hisense has a specified 3000 nits brightness level which ensures that the picture will even stand up to bright, direct sunlight. The new multi-layer anti-reflective matte coating on the screen works very well to limit distracting reflections and glare. This amazing combination of technologies creates an unmatched picture quality. How good is the sound? Most television speakers are just not comparable to the display, yet the immersive experience of movies or sporting events comes from rich sound rolling over and around you. This usually requires adding a sound bar to replace those pitiful little speakers typically built in. But this Hisense has one of the best sound systems I have ever heard on any set. Its unaided sound is so good that I watched an entire action movie with my sound bar turned off and it seemed there was very little drop off in audio quality. This is due to the 2.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos sound system, the most advanced surround sound system. It delivers sound as “objects” which are placed in three dimensional space rather than in specific channels to immerse listeners in the sound delivered through two built-in 10-watt full-range left/right speakers mounted at the bottom edge, a 20-watt woofer mounted in the center of the back of the TV and two 5-watt side/up speakers mounted on the left and right back of the TV. You can also choose preset sound modes (e.g., standard, theater, sports, clear voice, music) or make your own sound adjustments. If you use this TV in a room where a supplemental audio system would not fit in, the built-in sound system will not disappoint you. Even better, Hisense offers a nice range of modestly-priced Hi-Concerto soundbars which connect seamlessly to this TV and enable you to use both the TV speakers and the soundbar speakers together. Finally, the third element of evaluating is the set of added features available. Here you will find that this TV is like one of those Russian nesting doll sets – every time you open up a feature your find another bonus inside! • All extra features are controlled by the excellent Google TV + Gemini operating system. This facilitates an effortless setup process including installing all of your streaming services. • The lighted remote gives direct access to the most popular streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Disney+ and a customizable button. It also accepts voice commands and provides a menu button for settings. • The Google Play Content Store contains hundreds of additional apps and games which can be downloaded. The storage capacity for the operating system and apps is a generous 32 GB. • The Google TV Live feature is amazing. It is an integrated program guide of internet program sources and over-the-air channels. It also includes Gemini. Just ask it any question and it will respond to you! It also learns your viewing preferences and makes intelligent suggestions that you will probably enjoy. • Gamers will be thrilled by the dedicated Game Bar menu options and the superb color and 330 Hz variable refresh rate image processing capability of the TV. • The ATSC 3.0 over-the-air tuner can receive 4K broadcasts. It is very easy to receive digital broadcasts with this fine tuner and you will be amazed by their quality. • A Device Assistant button in the Apps menu gives access to a fine array of built-in utilities including a hardware check, storage cleaner and a system optimizer. • Nearly all menu options include explanations of their function. • Air Play screen sharing from a PC or phone is supported and it is effortless. There is also a Multi-View display mode which permits both a video feed from the TV and screen mirroring from a phone – great for watching two games side-by-side! • WiFi is the latest 6E standard (LAN 802.11AX 2.4/5G/6G). An Ethernet port is also available. • “Ambient Mode” gives rotating artwork or personal photos plus time/temperature on screen. • The very solid stand is easy to assemble, has a compact 10.4” x 15” footprint and provides two height choices. The taller setting raises the TV about 3 inches which is plenty to permit a soundbar to be placed in front without blocking the screen. Evaluation - the Hisense 55” U7SG is an absolutely superb premium television, offered at an attractive price and perfectly-sized for smaller rooms (den, bedrooms) - an excellent choice for those who demand the best. It earned a full five stars and my most enthusiastic endorsement!

Overall, I am pleased with the television. The anti glare is effective, especially in our sunlit living room. Love having a TV for this room that doesn’t reflect everything back at you like a mirror. We have this in a room with lots of natural light and even with the blinds open, the picture is bright, defined, and easy to see. When I stand to the side and see the window on-screen in the brightest of the day, I can kind of see it, but it’s much diffused (hooray!). The brightness is adjustable, so if your room isn’t as bright, you can set it to what you need/want. The colors on screen are vibrant, clear, and it has several screen options, such as theater or standard modes. If you want an app to display your media, there are a LOT to choose from. The one we use is in the lineup, so we’ll be good to go. I was surprised at how good the sound from the TV is. We use speakers, but if we didn’t, the sound from it is good—I usually am annoyed at TV sound but I could be fine with this one’s sound. We paired it with eArc and it was simple to do. I like the flat-bottom plate stand that it comes with vs. feet on each end. It’s sturdy and sleek and if you can’t hang the TV on the wall (like in an apartment or something), it actually would work to set it on a mantle with the stand. I thought that I’d take a half star off for the thickness, which affects the frame I’ll have to build, but since measurements are listed, I don’t think that’s necessarily fair. We got it to frame and view art and photos mainly, and the frame we will build will need to be thicker than I had wanted, but the anti glare and picture is so good, I’m OK with that. We don’t walk up to it from the side, so it really won’t be that big of a deal. All that said, if you’re looking for a great picture plus good sound without having to use external speakers, I recommend this one.

looking for high-end specs without paying a massive premium. As someone who deals with tech daily, I wanted a TV that didn't compromise on processing or future-proofing, and this one absolutely delivers. Picture Quality & Brightness My living room gets a ton of natural light, which was my biggest concern. With the 3000 nits of peak brightness and the anti-glare screen treatment, daytime viewing is completely hassle-free. The Mini-LED tech really shows off at night, though. The local dimming zones give you super deep blacks that make Dolby Vision movies look incredible, and the colors are natural right out of the box instead of looking artificially blown out. Sports & Motion Motion clarity was a major priority for me. Watching Mountaineers games on a Saturday afternoon has been a flawless experience. The 165Hz refresh rate and the AI Smooth Motion tech completely eliminate that annoying blur during fast camera pans and running plays. It’s fluid, crisp, and you can easily read jersey numbers while players are sprinting. Gaming & Ports A huge selling point is the inclusion of four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports. It is incredibly nice not having to constantly swap cables if you have multiple consoles or streaming devices. When gaming, the dedicated Game Mode kicks in automatically, and the response time is incredibly fast and smooth. Sound & Interface Built-in TV speakers are usually an afterthought, but the 2.1.2 surround setup tuned by Devialet actually provides some real depth and clear dialogue. The Google TV interface is snappy, and thanks to the WiFi 6E, 4K streaming has been rock solid with zero buffering. The Remote I have to give a quick shoutout to the remote. It has a "Lift to Light" feature so the buttons illuminate as soon as you pick it up in the dark, plus a "Find My Remote" function. It's a small detail, but an absolute game-changer for movie nights. Overall, it’s a powerhouse of a TV that punches well above its price tag. Highly recommend.
