Chromagic color technology maps and fine-tunes every shade across the screen - so colors look accurate and balanced whether you're watching a moody drama or a bright, vivid blockbuster. From subtle gradients to bold hues, everything looks natural edge to edge.

  • Chromagic Optical Design

Chromagic Optical Design delivers a clean, consistent picture from edge to edge, with better light control that reduces halo effects, so brightness stays even and nothing looks washed out.

Truly exceptional TV, maybe the best one out there

Verdict. In the past, we aimed to buy TVs from a specific brand, and to buy the thinnest and biggest one possible. This led to very rare upgrades because of the cost. I have moved on from that brand, which has freed my mind to explore other TVs. And wow do we love the Hisense 85” UR8 TV… How long have I been missing out on better value for exceptional quality? This TV has everything I want… Size, picture quality, deep black, impressive sound, latest technology, ground breaking features, Google TV, and an exceptional value for what you get. This is the second Hisense TV we have own, but the other one is much smaller. I remember being impressed with the smaller one because of the experience (watching quality and user experience), but this takes it to another level. And… Watching the world cup on this thing has been vivid, smooth, and epic! Pro tip. I have installed every TV I have ever owned, to include many wall-mounted. TVs are now getting so big, that it’s at the limit of what my wife and I can install safely. If you are worried about the weight and size of this TV, pay for a professional installation. My wife and I carried this beast up the stairs and wall mounted it ourselves, but we will not do that again… It’s just too big and unwieldy. First impression. Wow… it’s big! This replaced a much older, but high-end, 70” TV from another brand, and I didn’t think I would notice that much difference, but we definitely do. I like the design of the screen edges; it looks thin from most view points and then bevels out in the back. The backlit remote with movement sensor is very nice; definitely a feature we didn’t have on our previous TV. Setup. This went from the box to wall-mounted, so I don’t know how the base install works. I have wall-mounted many TVs so I am very comfortable doing it, but this was very hard due to weight, size, and our age now. Besides the physical installations, Google sign-in was not smooth for me this time for some reason; the QR code process kept timing out at the import account settings step. I just set it up manually in the end. There are a lot of steps to go through… more than I can remember from any other TV, maybe 10 minutes for the software part. Functionality. While initial sign-in glitched, the rest was a breeze. Google TV is a game-changer for us; it’s just a faster and more powerful interface for us. The UX is very easy to use and smooth. All my sign-ons for apps where already loaded. I also love the feature to search across apps since we actually search on google where to stream something! Now we can do it across our apps. We also love “Hey Google” to do many things hands-free on the TV! While it works quite well, for some reason I can’t turn-on the TV with “Hey Google” (I can with the other Hisense) and I wish there was more AI built in so that I could ask questions to Gemini right from “Hey Google.” With this TV, we can also get free local channels with Freeplay; there is a FreeTV button on the remote… that’s really nice, thank you! The TV also has Hisense Channels, which looks like older content, but there is quite a lot there and it’s free! In the settings, you can setup Alexa on the TV through “My Brilliant Life”, but I don’t know what that is, so I will research before trying. Picture. The picture quality of this TV is world class. I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with the colors, the brightness, the deep blacks, the resolution, the refresh rate, and the powerful speakers. I am not well versed in TV technology, so I am not sure what makes the picture of this TV so good. I am guessing the RGB MiniLED, or perhaps that plus the combination of all the other features: AI Engine RGB, refresh rate, obsidian panel, Chromagic tech, IMAX Enhanced, HDR, Dolby Vision?? Unreal how much tech is in this TV. What I love: - Deep blacks with no reflection… unbelievably bright colors, details, and resolution - 180Hz refresh! That’s as good as my gaming monitor. - 4K, HDR, RGB MiniLED! Amazing! - We love the voice remote - The game bar is very cool; it has the features of nice gaming monitors… I didn’t even know TVs came with that! - 4x HDMIs (wow), including one eARC for sound systems - I love that it has an Ethernet connection and 2x USB connections - 2-year warranty - Powerful sound! Best I have heard in a TV, and so powerful that we are usually only at 15 to 17 on the volume level - It has Google Freeplay, so I can watch local channels for free! - There is a physical mic on/off button near the power button on the TV if you don’t want to talk to the TV and/or if you want more privacy What I don’t love: - Nothing really… It’s perfect so far, but if I have to put something down it’s my concern about the ambient light sensors. The TV is very bright, so I have not noticed any issues with auto dimming yet. However, I have had bad experiences in the past (with other brands) with ambient light sensors and auto dimming. I was not able to turn off this feature in the settings so I hope it does better than other implementations. No issues yet, but I really don’t like this feature Overall, this is hands-down the best TV we have ever owned or experienced. It outshines any competitor TV in my opinion. There is so much tech and so many features packed into the Hisense UR8 that value for features, value for quality, and value for size is remarkable. I most highly recommend this TV.

    Oled colors, not oled prices

If you were thinking about buying an oled for its rich and vibrant colors while also wanting or needing those inky blacks. I highly suggest you skip oled and try the new Hisense lineups of RGB mini led tvs. You will not believe what this tv can do, RGB is the future and the future is here. I’ve been into tech for over 30 years and I can tell you this is definitely the biggest jump in LCD based tvs I have ever seen. I have oled, yes it’s great but at what cost for an equivalent sized tv? Double at least and with RGB you get beautiful rich colors that are both deep but also brighter and just as vibrant. Deep blacks due to amazing processing and mini led technology. I have the U8 85 inch from last years model run from Hisense and I thought that tv was beautiful. This tv blows that one out of the water. Plenty bright without being overly bright for those sensitive to super bright TVs. While watching anything hdr or Dolby vision looks so saturated i sometimes watch YouTube videos showcasing the colors just for fun(see pics). Viewing angles are good as well. Though it’s an 85 so we all have a good center view. I like to watch older tv shows from the 90s and the upscaling is done very well. The built in speakers sound nice and balanced with several options to enhance dialogue and utilize Dolby atmos if interested. Bass on tv is solid but nothing amazing. Overall tv speakers get loud with very good vocal clarity but I’d recommend a soundbar either way. Google tv is the best OS and runs smoothly and fast. Remote is backlit and easy to see at night with every shortcut button you could want/need. Only thing I don’t like about the tv, is putting the tv stand onto the tv. It was very frustrating lol. But it’s fine after I got it done. It’s super heavy and sturdy. But again, read the reviews and watch YouTube videos and trust that this is the best tv you can get. Once you see it in person you will understand all the hype. I love this tv so much so I don’t watch tv on my 98inch as much anymore. That’s says a lot. Beautiful picture quality!

    Doesn't get much better

I recently picked up the 85UR8, and after spending some time with it, I think it's an excellent TV overall. I also own the 75U8H, so I had a good reference point before buying this one. After using both, I'd say the overall picture quality is very comparable, just on a much larger screen. If you're already familiar with the U8H, this will feel like a natural step up in size rather than a dramatic leap in image quality. One thing I noticed is that the 85UR8 has more picture settings and adjustment options than my U8H. There are plenty of controls if you like to fine-tune the image, with more features that can be enabled or disabled depending on your preferences. I spent quite a bit of time experimenting with different settings, but honestly, I couldn't find a combination that made a huge difference over my U8H. That's not a complaint because I already thought the U8H looked great. The extra controls are nice to have, even if they didn't completely change the viewing experience for me. The panel itself is excellent. Even when the TV is turned off, the screen has a deep black appearance instead of looking gray, and that carries over into actual content. The black levels are noticeably good, especially during darker scenes in movies. Blacks look deep without crushing shadow detail, so you still see what's happening in darker parts of the image. It gives movies a much more cinematic look, especially when watching in a dim room. What stands out the most to me is the brightness. In my opinion, brightness is one of the biggest factors in what makes a TV actually look impressive. This TV gets very bright, and because of that, HDR content really stands out. Highlights have much more impact, and colors have a richness and vibrancy that make the picture look more alive. I also own a Hisense QD7, and while it's a decent TV for the price, it has never impressed me as much because it simply doesn't get bright enough. The colors on the QD7 don't have the same pop, and the overall image looks flatter by comparison. The 85UR8 doesn't have that problem at all. The combination of high brightness and strong black levels gives the picture a lot of depth and contrast. I also think we've reached a point where TV technology has matured quite a bit. Most higher-end TVs today are capable of excellent HDR performance and producing vivid, vibrant colors. At this point, I don't think color alone is what separates one good TV from another. What really makes the difference are things like brightness, black levels, motion handling, and how well the TV displays regular SDR content that most of us still watch every day. The 85UR8 does all of those things well. I especially like some of the picture processing options for SDR content. Features like AI Picture, AI Smooth Gradient, Super Resolution, and the adjustable noise reduction settings can help older cable broadcasts and lower-quality streaming content look cleaner without making the image look overly processed when used in moderation. It's nice having those options available depending on the source you're watching. Motion is also handled well, and after a little tweaking of the motion settings, sports and fast-moving scenes look smooth without introducing distracting artifacts or an overly artificial "soap opera" effect. I've also spent quite a bit of time gaming on an Xbox Series X, and it's been a great experience. Games look fantastic on the 85-inch screen, especially titles with HDR support. The brightness really makes explosions, lighting effects, and colorful environments stand out, while the deep black levels add a lot of depth during darker scenes. Gameplay feels responsive, VRR works as expected, and I haven't noticed any issues that take away from the experience. The native 165Hz panel is a nice feature to have, but I don't think it's something most people should buy the TV for. On an Xbox Series X, most games are still capped at 60 or 120 fps, so you're not really taking advantage of the extra refresh rate. Where the higher native refresh rate may help is with overall motion clarity and reducing blur, but for movies, TV shows, and even sports broadcasts, most content is produced at much lower frame rates anyway. In those cases, the TV's motion processing and response time matter more than the jump from 120Hz to 165Hz. In my experience, the TV handles all of that very well, and sports in particular look clean and smooth after dialing in the motion settings. The built-in sound is also better than what you'll find on most TVs. While I think most people buying an 85-inch TV will probably be pairing it with a soundbar or a dedicated surround sound system, it's still worth mentioning that the speakers are better than average if you plan to use them. The 85-inch screen is the biggest reason I upgraded, and it has completely changed the viewing experience. Movies, sports, and games all feel much more immersive simply because of the size. Setup was straightforward, performance has been reliable, and I haven't experienced any issues so far. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. If you're coming from a TV like the U8H, I wouldn't expect a night-and-day improvement in picture quality, but you do get a massive screen, excellent brightness, very good black levels, more picture adjustment options, and strong performance with both SDR and HDR content. For me, the brightness is what really makes this TV stand out. It's the difference between a picture that simply looks good and one that immediately grabs your attention. Combined with the excellent black levels, smooth motion, great Xbox Series X performance, and the ability to fine-tune SDR content, the 85UR8 has been everything I was hoping it would be. It's a TV that excels in the areas that actually make a difference during everyday use, and that's what has impressed me the most.

    OLED-Like Picture Quality

First and foremost, moving and unboxing this Hisense UR8 RGB 85” TV requires two people due to its substantial size and weight. The TV arrived securely mounted on a wooden pallet and inside an additional large cardboard shipping box, which added even more weight to the package. I strongly recommend having someone to help with moving, unboxing, and setting up the TV to avoid potential damage to the TV or injury during installation. The TV is well designed, and the overall build quality is excellent. I closely inspected the TV front and back and found no issues. The rear plastic panel has a smooth finish with no rough edges, giving it a premium feel. Installation was straightforward and required attaching two sturdy legs to the TV and to the large, heavy base, and this mounting setup gives the TV excellent stability. Once the TV was set, I checked for any possible wiggle, and fortunately, the TV is firmly anchored in place. I also liked the fact that the legs have cable management. I inserted the supplied batteries into the remote and powered it on. The remote seems to be good in the hands, and it is also backlit, which is good to use at night. Since the TV is powered by Google TV, I was given the option to continue the setup process using a QR code displayed on the TV, which took me directly to the Google TV app on my phone. After following a few simple prompts and signing into my Google account, the TV was fully up and running within minutes. All my Google apps were installed. As a Google TV streamer user, I find the Google platform on this TV is also great. It includes the app store with tons of streaming apps, in addition to having Gemini AI integration, which adds additional functionality to the TV. After a few adjustments to the color and contrast, the picture looked brilliant. I also added the TV to my Apple HomeKit app, which was a plus. That TV has plenty of ports: 4 × HDMI 2.1 ports, 1 × HDMI eARC port, 2 × USB ports, 1 × Ethernet, and 1 × Digital Optical Audio. Also, the TV is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In practice, I played several 4K HDR movies with Dolby Vision to test it out, and I have to say that I was impressed. The colors were amazing and vivid, although this is not an OLED TV, the black color is noticeably inky. No doubt the RGB Mini-LED technology offers exceptional brightness along with vivid, accurate colors. I can confidently say that this Hisense UR8 85” is one of the most impressive televisions I have used in terms of build quality, color accuracy, and sound. Gaming on this TV is also another area where this TV stands out. The 165Hz refresh rate is enough to give it a smooth and responsive experience. During my gaming, I had no latency or lag, whatever. The built-in speakers are also excellent with a huge subwoofer; they deliver clear sound. Overall, I am satisfied with this Hisense UR8 RGB 85” 4K TV.

    Big, Bold, Beautiful, Breathtaking!

This Hisense 85" UR8 RGB Mini-LED 4K UHD Smart Google TV has exceeded all of my expectations. It makes me smile every time I watch something on it. Picture quality is amazing with lifelike colors and deep blacks, brilliant colors, and brightness that rivals the sun. The 4K resolution on a massive 85” screen really creates an all-encompassing immersive viewing experience. This super smart TV offers all the bells and whistles without leaving anything out, but at a reasonable price point. Cutting-edge quality and functionality with a plethora of integrated smart features. Picture Quality: Amazing! Full 4K UHD panel with RGB Mini-LED technology for superb contrast and color accuracy. Bright vibrant colors, deep blacks, and phenomenal contrast that I think rivals even the best (and most expensive) OLEDs out there. This thing is BRIGHT! Illuminates the whole room, but with deep rich blacks as well. RGB Mini-LED backlighting provides for enhanced local dimming, resulting in more accurate colors, precise control over brightness levels, and noticeably improved HDR performance. All this along with 165Hz refresh rate and Clear Action 720 keep fast-paced scenes and gameplay smooth and lifelike. The end result is a simply amazing picture that can’t be beat. It’s more like looking through a window than looking at a television. Google TV: This is the latest model with latest internal components, allowing it to speed through the Google TV platform with ease. The inclusion of Google TV as the smart platform provides seamless access to a vast library of streaming services, apps, and content. The intuitive interface makes it easy to navigate through different apps and discover new entertainment options. Plus, the integration of Google Assistant allows for hands-free voice commands and smart home control. After turning it on I can literally go the whole evening without using the remote and just speak to the TV what I want to watch or what I want it to do, it’s incredible. In conjunction with the Google TV platform, this UR8 Series TV offers built-in Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth connectivity, 4 HDMI 2.1, a LAN port, 2 USBs, and a built in TV tuner. It has every connection you could want or need. Of course the majority of content these days will come across the blazing fast Wi-Fi 6E connection which connects incredibly fast to eliminate any lag or buffering issues while streaming. Popular streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, Prime video, Hulu, and many more at the touch of a button, and at instantaneous speed. Gaming Performance: With support for 165Hz refresh rate, Clear Action 720, and low input lag, the UR8 Series is awesome for gaming. This TV offers smooth and responsive gameplay in a huge visual package. Performs and looks as good as some of my very high-end gaming monitors, but this thing is HUGE. Computer and PS5 via HDMI connection have never looked so good, and none of the slow refresh rate blur. Audio Quality: The built-in speakers and subwoofer provide beautiful clear and immersive audio. When I first hooked this up I thought I went straight to the surround sound, but I was actually mistaken and I was listening to the TV speakers themselves. I sounds so good right out of the box that it actually took me a while to realize it was just the TV. I must admit I was very impressed with the sound quality. Then I corrected hooked things up through the eARC and had the full cinema experience. Design and Build: This TV has a beautiful design and nice clean look. I always appreciate slim bezels and smooth finish. The TV and stand are well-built and sturdy to ensure durability and safe placement. Unboxing, stand attachment, and placement were quick and easy, only took about 10 minutes, but I did need some help lifting it up onto its stand. I like that the stand is a solid central base rather that two wide legs on each end of the TV, this allows for much greater placement options and doesn’t require nearly as wide of footprint for placement. Overall I think this Hisense 85" Class UR8 RGB Mini-LED Smart Google TV is amazing. Phenomenal picture quality, vast array of smart features, and top-notch gaming performance, all at an attractive price point. Latest and greatest internals allow it to utilize the newest technology to offer a lightning fast, user-friendly interface worthy of applause. A truly enjoyable, premium viewing experience.
