Q: How does the machine get water for the ice?
A: You poor it in to the fill line. Empty any unused water when done. Has drain plug on bottom.

Q: How long can you hold ice? Is ice stored indefinitely or only for a short period of time?
A: It is stored in the freezer compartment of the machine, and if it does melt it melts back into the water reservoir to be used again. A pretty neat concept. We have only had it hold ice for about 8 hrs, and shut it down at the end of our parties, and it still kept the ice frozen up until at least then.
Q: How long does it take to make a batch of ice cubes?
A: First batch in 10-15 minutes.
A: Yes, the portable ice maker makes noise when it dumps into tray. Some humming noise while running as well. However, I'm amazed by how fast it makes ice. I use for a couple hours to produce a bag of ice to store for later. We have water softener & I don't like the taste of water or ice going through the system & the fridge. I can put up with a little noise & enjoy the convenience of not having to go out & buy bags of ice.
A: Clear ice is made by the filtering of the water, the better filtered water you use the clearer the ice.

A: No, it will not work off of 12 volts
Q: does the ice maker have a water filter and if so how do you get at it?
A: Since you pour water into it, filtering is not required or you would filter your water beforehand. There is a screen the water goes through in case you drop something in the reservoir.
