Best Hard Rock Album in 20 Years!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is hands down the best hard rock album I have heard in 20 years. Not sure why they released "Tattoo" first. I like it, but It is the weakest song on the entire cd. After that first song, it is balls to the wall classic van halen. Everything you loved about the original sound is on this record (except of course michael anthony). But to be honest, after hearing this, I don't miss him. Eddie and Al's guitars and drums are ferocious. It's hard to believe guys in their mid 50s can play with this much attitude and aggression. Every song punches you in the face. Wolfgang's bass playing is pretty impressive also. Roth's vocals sound awesome to me and his delivery is in typical DLR style . Compared to stuff he's recorded the last 15 years, he has never sounded better. The sound production is the best I have ever heard on a van halen record. Song for song, this is better than anything they did with Sammy Hagar. Any fan of hard rock, blazing guitar riffs, killer drumming, and van halen in general will absolutely be blown away by how good this album is. This is a masterpiece of hard rock. Jaw Dropping!!!!!

I've been waiting 28 years...it was worth the wait
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Of course these guys are in their mid to late 50's so to think Van Halen will sound just as they did 28 years ago is not realistic. However, they do deliver a great record that captures a lot of the magic they had in the late '70s and early '80s. Dave's voice is not what it once was and it shows on several songs but Eddie suprises me with some great guitar playing reminisent of yester year. Alex is ALWAYS solid and Wolfgang does a very good job with both his bass playing and backing vocals, although you can't help imagine how much better the record could have been with Michael Anthony's signature vocals. Finally, when I want to see AND hear classic Van Halen I go see FAN HALEN, a tribute band that nails original Van Halen. I highly recommend seeing these guys when they're in your town!

Van Halen Is Back!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought it was a pretty good effort although I was expecting a little more after 20+ years. I’ve been playing the CD on my car stereo for the last two weeks. For us die hard VH fans, anything is better than nothing. I’m still a big Van Hagar fan, but David Lee is awesome too! Some of the material I heard on their old demo records from the late 70s and I noted a lot of the traditional Van Halen guitar licks and songs were recycled from some of the earlier years - She’s the Woman = I’m the One , Stay Frosty = Ice Cream Man. I would highly recommend the album to anyone who loves Rock and Roll. It has been a while since I’ve heard some good rock songs. This album brings me back to my teenage days, I love it! GIVE US MORE!!!

Well Worth the Wait!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Boys are back, and they ain't messin' around! This is a true treat for the loyal VH fan and anybody that likes good rock. The guitar is amazing as always, and you just can't believe these guys spent 28 years away from each other...it is a tragedy, but they really came back strong here!!!

Classic Van Halen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally, Van Halen provides what orignal fans have desired for years. Tattoo, Blood and Fire, and Stay Frosty are my favorites, but the entire album exudes that heavy metal sound that has almost disappeared from the music charts over the past decade or more. Diamond Dave doesn't scream like he used to and none of the songs are going to reach the level of "Jump" or some of the Hagar-era songs in radio play, but Roth and Van Halen still deliver a solid performance. The DVD shares 3 acoustic versions of Panama, You and Your Blues, and Beautiful Girls. Good for die hard fans, but not essential if you don't want to spend the extra few bucks.
