It's asking quite a lot of the viewer...

Now I love dogs, so this shouldn't be too hard to watch, I thought. But without giving away everything (and here is a spoiler...), it asks the viewer to accept the fact that a dog reincarnates after it passes away and is reborn elsewhere, to eventually find its purpose. This means as an audience you have to go through several lives of different dogs with different owners, basically watching several stories all put into one. If you are willing to accept that, the story will eventually come full circle for you and you will understand the purpose of this film.

This is not a movie for everyone but still has positive messages. Anyone who owns or has owned a pet may have already experienced the cycle of life. We all pass on eventually and this movie does a good job at showing the good times and bad in life without showing all the negatives regarding the actual death. Difficult time for any pet owner but this movie may help younger kids cope with the pain. Would suggest for the parents to review before exposing the child to the movie. It does have a happy ending for the humans and the pet.

I couldn't wait for this movie to come out in the theater when I saw the preview in a theater. It has to be the best story about the life of one dog who starts out life in one dog and after he is born again in other dogs. The experiences he goes thru are very real and different with the owners or pack leader. I laughed and cried thru some parts of the stories. I loved the ending and won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it or know it. For those who are dog lovers this is a must to see and own in your library.

Soulful, maybe, Surprising, no. I have raised, loved and had life changing experiences with 4 different breeds of dogs, a couple of these breeds more than once. These animals are loved and cared for by humans. They look at you with a true wish to be loved and petted. I think that someone who owns a dog but doesn't quite understand why folks like us love, and I mean love, our animals so much, should watch this movie. It might just answer a few questions your animal has about you!

If you've heard ANYTHING but praise for this film, don't believe it........this is a gem, for EVERYONE to enjoy. My family watched this, and we loved it from title to end credits. If you're a dog lover, this is a must see, and a fond wave from the "Rainbow Bridge", where we'll reunite one day with these friends. There's plenty of human story here too, and some scenes we can all relate to; life is a long voyage, films like this give it a new lighthouse! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I purchased this as a gift for someone who wanted it. I, however, have no interest in watching a movie about dogs dying as I'm a dog lover myself. I'm sure it has a good story but I'm not into tearjerkers. Not to mention the abuse I heard that some of the dogs took during the filming. So I really didn't want to support the filmmakers with my purchase, but only did so as the person I bought it for really wanted it.

It's a 3 star for a reason. It seems a tad long in the tooth in building the early part of the dog's life and hurried during the reincarnations of the dog's soul into the other dogs during his "finding his purpose". Do be warned, the 1st death of the dog will rip you to pieces if you've gone through something similar. Children need to already understand death of a family pet and parents need to be ready for it.
