A True 90s Classic Comedy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never been a sports guy, not sure why but baseball and football and especially basketball are boring to me. However, this film is so full of charm and humor and memorable characters/moments/quotes that I can't help but love it! During WWII many men head to Europe to fight for freedom and justice leaving their wives, sisters, girlfriends, etc. in America to try to carry on the American dream. People are worried and so a women's baseball league is started to distract those at home from what may or may not be happening to their loved ones overseas. The movie focuses on the Rockford Peaches and their coach, a washed up drunk named Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) who could careless about the girls on his team until they melt his heart. They play baseball but the movie humorously shows us their relationships forming, growing, breaking, and carrying on in a time of war and uncertainty. I'm making this sound way more dramatic than it is, its super fun and hilarious! I haven't seen all the bonus features but even if they were terrible the movie itself is worth the price of the disc on it's own.

Good movie!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty good movie. Lots of funny parts and explanations about the women’s league and how it started. They kept the baseball league going while the men were fighting in the war. Acting was pretty good throughout the movie. Tom Hanks and Gena Davis made the movie. Lots of fun.

Fantastic sports film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A League of Their Own is a fantastic film. It really paints a portrait of how life was like for women back then (and to some extent now) and brings up a topic that I never knew about, which is women's baseball was put together as a distraction for WWII. The film and its cast is great as is the picture, audio and special features. If there's one feature I definitely recommend, it's the retrospective. I think that it's intriguing that when the film came out, everyone believed that women in Hollywood would be treated fairly and that everything would change. It didn't and it's a topic that they talk about at length.

Classic Comedy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great movie at a great price and assuming you don't already have it in your collection, this should be an easy decision for you. If you already have the previous Blu-ray, this version doesn't offer much more except for a short retrospective featurette and the original trailer. (Both of which were enough for me to spend the extra 10 bucks on the "upgrade.") What I found to be disappointing though, was the fact that I couldn't find any copies on the shelf even though the Best Buy website said that my store at four in stock. When I asked someone about it, they went to the back of the store and dug one up for me which I appreciated but they came back with one that had no slipcover. I was disappointed but decided not to make a big deal about it. I happened to come back to the store a few days later for something else and I couldn't help but notice that the other three copies made it on the shelf and all three of them had slipcovers.

A Part of History
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have loved this movie since it came out in the theaters and have been wanting to see it recently. It is still great and this was the best deal for the Bluray and digital copy under $10! The Special Features are insightful as far as giving more of a glimpse into how the film came together, the industry politics, the people it was based on and the training the actresses had to go through as well as some plot twists that were removed from the film. You will laugh, you will cry. even though there is no crying in baseball.

Fun reminder
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this movie on DVD but wanted it on bluray for sometime now and made the move with the anniversary edition. Besides getting a better picture, the extra features are great. The movie itself is great. Loved all the characters especially Tom Hanks and Gena Davis. A great story too. How close it really was to real life I don't know, but it felt like it was. I would recommend this to fans of the game as well as history buffs. You will enjoy it.

Great Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent portrayal of women's baseball during WWII. Never completely over the top, interlaced with humor and travail, an outstanding actor ensemble. The extras features some women still alive at the time who played back then and it's both heartfelt and inspiring. Tom Hanks usual every-guy portrayal steals the show but the rest of the cast holds their own too.
