adrenaline rush
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed.A Private War is a powerful and provocative film about the life of a war correspondent. Reminds me of an old Chinese proverb The cobra seeks to fix the eye of the bird, before it strikes. In that moment of looking at each other, each accepts their role - predator and prey. Fear creates the victim. Yet, something in the bird makes it seek the eye of the cobra. She was addicted to the adrenaline rush

WOW
||Posted .I might seem naive but I didn’t know who Marie Colvin was before this movie but because of it I learned about a fascinating journalists and her quest for the truth to be told about the horrors of war. Rosamund Pike gave a strong and memorable performance of Colvin (watched interviews of her just to compare and a documentary about her struggles to get her story told the way she wanted it to) and breathed new life into what could have been a snooze fest of a predictable Oscar bait role but turned out to be pretty amazing.

Excellent Acting
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Pike was fantastic portraying a person determined and ultimately obsessed to the point of her own demise in helping others around the world. A beautifully told simultaneously uplifting and tragic presentation of true events.

Great Piece of Storytelling
||Posted .This was a great movie and the depiction of a person who suffers from PTSD that was not in the military, was riviting. Pike's performance was spectacular and her journey throughout the film kept wanting to know more.

Mesmerizing film
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I wish Best Buy still had a music section. I also wish they sold more movies a much wider selection of old and new films. The “treasure bins are annoying to look through and people often put things in there that don’t belong. I won’t even bother looking through them anymore it takes a good 20 minutes to see what’s in there and it’s a shame cause it’s a good price

Rosamund Pike at her best
||Posted .The true story of Marie Colvin a journalist who covered wars from the late 1980s until 2012. She is considered a reporter on par with the greats. She didn't just cover wars. She was committed to the telling the stories of those who were effected by wars. A truly, intense, realistic film, with a performance by Rosamund Pike that is probably her finest ever. She becomes Marie Colvin.

A bleak look at war journalism
||Posted .Rosamund Pike gives an outstanding performance of a woman who is compelled to go into the most dangerous war situations. In addition to this destructive impulse, she has others. You never see a completely happy person in Pike's portrayal of an actual historical figure, That can be depressing, but Pike portrays that person completely convincingly.
