Altra - Modern Mission Desk

I recently began working from home and wanted a nice,spacious desk for a work space.This desk is a fantastic price and offers a lot of space-I have room for everything I need,and it is a beautiful,modern desk with plenty of style.The set-up was also fairly easy.The only thing that would make it perfect is if it had a drawer (or drawers).Highly reccomend this!

Nice big surface. Plenty of leg room. Very sturdy. Easy assembly. I'm actually using the wide keyboard tray as a drawer since I have a laptop. Perfect match for IKEA's bookcases in Black-Brown color. Exposed screw holes however these can be covered with caps purchased from hardware store. I don't think the top is water proof so use coasters. It's a pretty solid laminate but I'm almost certain it would swell or bubble if water was left on the surface.

I bought this knowing that it was going to be cheap, but wow. This is really an example of mass production causing finish problems. It was very clearly damaged before it was even packaged. The particle board it is made of is extremely flaky and loose. I have put together tons of these kinds of things, so I always use lots of wood glue for everything. There was a little misalignment, but nothing to major to keep it from being finished. Be careful with the metal bits, they are very soft and cheap metal. I had almost every binding screw head strip out and one half snap off with almost no force. Once it was together it seemed sturdy enough. I were using this for anything beside an art desk it would have went straight back to the store. I do want it noted that the desk top finish is very thin and was already peeling off when I opened the box.

This desk is ideal for the beginner office. Assembling it was a breeze, but make sure you have another person to help you carry it and put the top on. Have a vacuum because it is messy opening the box, but it comes very well packaged. The pattern looks like zebra streaks, though I would have preferred a more solid brown or black look. The quality is minimal at best for a DYI desk, but you can always buy corner braces to reinforce the desk. *It DOES NOT match with the Ikea brown - black by the way, like the other comment noted. Anyhow, you get what you pay for and luckily they had free shipping with my order, so check back every so often and enjoy! I'm going to order the filing cabinet and bookshelves in the coming months.

What an unbelievable deal! My wonderful handy-man husband put this together for me and he said it was fairly simple. I love the simple lines and it is a wonderful large size. Most desks seem to be made for laptops and aren't deep enough for my 23" monitor. This desk gives me the right distance without straining my eyes. The keyboard slide-out gives my elbows the correct 90-degree angle to prevent that ache I was getting from other desks I've tried. This IS a composite-pressed wood product so I don't expect it to last for forever. But I am very happy with it and I'll take care of it as long as I can.

This product arrived damaged with two large pieces either gouged or broken. The manufacturer, Ameriwood Industries, has not replaced the parts as it promised and the unit is worthless to me.

The item was severely scratched upon arrival, and the replacement part was damaged beyond repair. The only good news is that Best Buy refunded my money.
