Best documentary by a musical icon.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best documentary I've ever seen about a musical icon! Most documentaries are written by other people-- and although this was produced by a team, there is so much footage of Amy from her childhood to her adulthood, that it could almost be mistaken that she made this documentary herself. I was stunned by the greatness of this documentary. I know Mitch Winehouse is not happy about how he was portrayed, but sometimes the truth hurts... It doesn't mean they didn't love each other, or that their relationship wasn't good. It's been said by several people that Mitch was living vicariously through Amy, because her singing career eclipsed his own. Not that he wasn't happy for her-- but it was stated by many people that he was a bit of an opportunist. I read Mitch's book about Amy, as well, and I found it to be a little bit self-indulgent on his part. I don't doubt that he made great strides to help Amy, but I think the documentary showed a more accurate account of her life. It was awesome to see so many of her friends and family and workers come together to talk about their love for her, their collaborations, her music, her talent... etc... And the point where she wins the Grammy was so incredible to be able to see her live reaction... My heart will never stop missing Amy, and this documentary gives me a little piece of her forever. I'm glad that this documentary showed the good, the bad, and the ugly. This is a Must-Buy for any true Amy Winehouse Fan.

A tragic story of an important artists demise.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story of a brilliant talent, taken from us too soon. Perhaps it was fame, granted to her at an early age. That burden in it self perhaps was to much, or, not enough to fill her existing personal voids. Her songs captured some of that so well. But the void that couldn't be satisfied by her talent and all of her success, was captured by the camera and the demands on live preforming and touring became a repetitive chore and not a challenge to her creative expression. The film brilliantly, if not ruthlessly peers into her world, it was all captured by the camera. You know the outcome, and every one vested in her world knows what's coming, but all involved parties can't seem to derail the sad ending. A portrait of the tragic loss of a great talent, seemed inevitable and was captured so personally by the camera. It's like your peering in the window watching something you don't really want to see, but can't look away from this film.

If there is one documentary you watch this year...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I truly believe that the true effect of a movie is if it stays in your memory long after the credits have finished flashing. And in this case, it will take a man with a very cold heart not to be touched by the final montage. A winner through and through, the documentary is unique in the sense that it doesn't judge Amy, it just presents facts as is and you never get to see the interviewees and only hear them.

Best doc of 2015
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An excellent and unflinching look into the life of arguably one of the greatest musical talents to have lived in the last 50 years. The viewer is taken through a tragic life journey which sheds light on how such a magnetic person with the world in her palm could so swiftly freefall from grace. A must see for all fans of Amy Winehouse as well as those who love great documentaries.

I was intrigued by this film!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amy was such a talent but her life was cut to short. This documentary goes further into her personal life showing her musical artistry and the struggles she experienced brought on by fame that lead to her death. Her voice and singing is tremendous that you wish things could have turned out different for her. We lost a true artist. Excellent Documentary!

A Poignant Tribute to a Lost-WAY-Too-Soon Artist
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2016, 88th Annual, Academy Award winning ("Bio"-) Documentary - Not much more needs to be said about this wonderfully honest and heartfelt portrayal of an artist with a depth of expression that may never be seen again. #LoveAmyForever P.S. This film also won for "Best Documentary Feature" at The 2016 British Academy of Film and Television Awards.

Brilliant, moving, and more than a little sad...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a very well-made documentary, with vast amounts of never-before-seen footage, it tugs at your heart, in more ways than one...Amy was an immense, once-in-a-generation talent...and just like that, she's gone. This doc shows just how truly special, and tormented, she was. Well worth the $$ - and time - watch it with someone you love.
