A: Not sure as the connector is designed for a laptop not a hotwire unless you find a adapter to convert.

Needed for my MacBook set up
Needed a mini DP to DVI and this one did the work. My computer set up is now complete.

Does what it needs to do
Purchased this for work to connect an iMac to my Cintiq (which has a DVI out only). There may have been a cheaper alternative, but I'd rather stick with the Mac connection. Sturdy build, and a consistent connection.

What can I say? It works fine.
I'm consistently impressed by Apple products. My desktop PC "died." I have to use my MacBook Air as a replacement. I have a large-screen LG monitor, so I got the adapter. Plugged it into my MacBook, plugged the DVI cable into the adapter, and voila . . . The MacBook automatically senses it's connected to an external monitor and outputs to the LG. It's kind of nice, too, because now I can use my laptop monitor along with the external monitor, opening multiple documents on my desktop and dragging them around in both monitors, viewing a spreadsheet and Word doc in the large monitor and a reference work or browser on the laptop.
