Needs subscription after the free 3 months trial. Or you can use the arlo hub with usb if you dont want a subscription plan with arlo. But every time you review the videos, you need to eject the usb from the hub and insert it in a loptop. I just put it on side of the house were minimal activity is. The light is not that great if your after for it instead get the arlo pro floodlight 3 which also needs subscription after the free trial period. Unlike the old model of arlo which comes with free cloud storage.

The cameras are easy to connect with the Arlo App and the clarity is really good! Got the 4 cameras charged and then installed them and I am so happy and feel much safer. I like that you can set the notifications to just notify you of people and not all movement. This has been a wonderful purchase and has added much safety to my home.
This camera is a great addition to our home. We wanted something to monitor activity in our backyard and it's doing a great job for that. One thing I didn't realize was when it's too cold outside, the camera won't function. It operates with battery power not direct wiring so that is why. Something I can live with as the number of times that happens is limited.
I've had it about a weeks now and so far it's okay. When you get a notification about motion the app has a 2 to 5 minute delay before you can see the video sometimes. It synced up with my Google home app but it buffers for a new seconds to a minute before it shows you the live stream. The picture quality is good and so far the battery life is decent but not going to last 6 months on 1 charge. I got it, charged it, and installed it Dec 3rd and today Dec 10th and the battery is at 67% and thats with most of the notifications turned off but I do have dogs that run around my backyard so it detects them a lot
Works great through the summer -- but these "outdoor cameras" stop working if it gets too far below freezing, which is just "winter" for the northern part of the US. This is apparently a limitation of batteries in general; however this camera does not have any battery bypass, i.e. plugging it in to USB doesn't prevent the problem from happening. My screenshot is of a camera that has a weatherproof USB cable plugged directly into an AC adapter. The USB cable was added because once the temps got below 50 the battery drained super fast.

Only problem is sometimes it’s delayed and not adding up with the other cameras also do not waist your money on the solar panel chargers don’t charge up enough

Arlo Essential Spotlight Camera ReviewThe Arlo Essential Spotlight Camera is a 1080p outdoor security camera that features color night vision, a built-in siren, a spotlight, and embedded Wi-Fi. The camera doesn't require a hub, it's a cinch to install, and it delivers sharp video
A:AnswerIf you don’t continue the subscription after the free trial your cameras will not record when triggered. You will only receive a notification that there was motion on a particular camera. Had I known this I would not have purchased these cameras.
A:AnswerThe hub is the escape goat to not have to buy the arlo monthly package for storage
If you Ever record data and it Has to go to the police, it needs to be on a Sim card which goes in the back of the hub and stores the data longer than 1 week.
A:AnswerThe Arlo Essential Spotlight camera can connect directly to your router's wifi network. Its range limitation depends on the wireless range of the router and the obstructions between their connection. If connected to an Arlo base station/SmartHub, you can place the camera maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) from the SmartHub or base station. The maximum line-of-sight range of 300 feet is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the camera and base station. ^RM
A:AnswerNo, my 3 month trial just ended. I’ve learned that my options are either sign up for cloud service (for I believe $3/mo for one camera or $10/mo for up to four) or use a usb memory stick for local storage in my Arlo hub. Local storage only records, but to view I have to eject & plug into my computer. No remote viewing of a recording. However I will still get alerts and can view live.
