- A: AnswerThe closest xfinity approved device to the Arris SBG8300 would be the Netgear C7800-200NAS. Both are DOCIS 3.1 cable modems combined with the hi-speed WiFi Router. The Arris box is new and therefore the comparison tables for performance characteristics are not yet available. There is a Netgear C7800-100NAS which is older than the 200NAS and also more expensive than the 200, so you need to be specific with the Netgear evaluation. The Arris and Netgear devices seem to stack up pretty close. The marketing literature for the netgear device suggests that they have a broad WiFi range (maybe because of the winglet antennas). Until side-by-side measurable comparison occurs, it could be a toss-up except for the price and 2 year warranty that points to Arris.

- A: AnswerNot very happy with this modem/router... had an old docsis 2.1 that worked fine. Upgraded my service to gigabyte down... needed a 3.1. If you’re using it wired it works well, the router is lousy. Barely get a signal in the next room and now shopping for WiFi extenders. If it wasn’t for this whole pandemic thing I would have returned it and tried another one or bought separate modem and router. Not worth $300.

Q: QuestionWill this work with Spectrum, I have the 100gp plan.(1 answer)
A: AnswerYes, you can certainly use it with your spectrum's service. This device will be a future proof device for you since it provides support for speed tiers of upto 1 GbpsAnswered by ARRIS SURFboard Team
- A: AnswerNo. I hear a little bit of sound from it when my ear is right next to it, but that's it.

- A: AnswerThis modem has been great. The user interface I find is better than netgears, and the speeds are as well. I’ve benched mark 2.4g around 431mb and my Ethernet at 731mv all while my network video security cameras are running Continuously . This modem also has 4 gigabyte lan ports which others do not. I’ve wired my home for Ethernet for my Xbox down stairs and both desktops and have had no issues. The modem does 5g as well but 5g doesn’t go through walls very well for any router.

Q: QuestionWill this work with Wave service 1 Gig plan?(1 answer)
A: AnswerYes it should, although it is relatively new and some ISP have not tested it on their system, Arris has tested on several ISP and have a list on their site.Answered by Razorback
- A: AnswerYes it does. I too use a VPN when I work from home, (using an RSA SecureID token to login to my company’s network). Even though VPN compatibility isn't evident anywhere on the box, it was an easy install & was a smooth transition from my previous router/moden to this one.

Q: QuestionWill sgb8300 support xfinity voice phones?(3 answers)
A: AnswerNo! So far it works better than the Comcast modem that had voice and we are saving $13.00 month So if you want voice with the modem you will need something like this ARRIS Surfboard (24x8) Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem Plus AC1750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Router and Xfinity Telephone, Certified for Comcast Xfinity Only (SVG2482AC), or modem with TelephoneAnswered by Xboxgiftcards

ARRIS - SURFboard DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem/Router
I highly recommend this modem/router combo. Its very easy to setup, impressive speed, and reasonable price. It was a bit expensive, but you definitely get what you paid for. This DOCSIS 3.1 modem can handle up to 2.5 Gbps broadband speeds. It’s cute, compact, and supports two static IP addresses3.

Great So Far Some Helpful Hints
I was skeptical to purchase the 8300 based on the reviews, most stating perpetually dropped wifi problems. Purchased, (to upgrade to "GIG") Connected coax cable then power, logged in, called (COX) ISP to set up, chose the same wifi names and passwords for 2.4 and 5ghz, booted PC, my printer immediately connected. Wow this is easy! Not so fast.... other wifi devices were not connected (including smart plugs, thermostat, wifi extenders, Ring etc.) Restarted modem a few times using the ISP interface, tried to connect smart devices and wifi kept dropping and I had a sinking feeling that I made a bad purchase. I took a break (about 2 hours in) then decided to uplug and reconnect the 8300, disconnected the power source from smart devices and reconnected them and BAM! most connected and no more wifi dropping. had to delete and reinstall a few others. I'll update if anything changes, but as of day 2, I am completely satisfied. As far as the time I spent, I wish it were more of a PNP experience, but I used the opportunity to explore and learn a few things about the 8300. I love the new interface btw. Unrelated, I wish I could hide unused (neighbors) wifi SSID's.

Best Cable Router I have ever Own!!!
I have used NETGEAR Cable Routers for many many years but was never really happy with the range of its wifi. So when our lastest Router needed to be replaced, I decided to go with this ARRIS Router after reading many many reviews and talking to the salesperson at Best Buy. When I finally got it up and going, I was immediately impressed not just at the increase in my download speed (it went up 3 fold) but the wifi range is just freaking amazing. My router sits in the living on the backside of my house and my RING Garage Camera connected with NO issues just from the Router directly. That is over 100 feet between them with many rooms and walls. With my old NETGEAR Routers I ALWAYS had to use a wifi extender. Not this time!!! In total i have 28 devices connected via wifi and all devices have a strong connection. I am an ARRIS Fan for life now. I will highly recommend this router!!! To give you an example my Internet plan is 500mb. On my my xbox I could never get more than 250mb (hard wired) well now after purchasing the ARRIS Router, i now get 399mb on my Xbox…WOW just Wow. You need to get an ARRIS Router!!!’
