Great Entry Level Gaming or Content Creation/Work
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a month ago and have had a couple errors come up but thanks to tech support at Microsoft got them handled quickly. I love the turbo boosted fans that are always in ASUS laptops, The Processing speeds and graphics and sound quality are great as well as of yet i cant really find anything bad about the laptop itself Win10 does have some bugs that they still need to fix but overall its a great laptop in my opinion and this is the 2nd ASUS laptop ive purchased in 12yrs an even the old one is still going strong on win7 if that goes to say anything about quality i dont know what does. I have heard some say these newer laptops have a life expectancy of 2-3yrs but with my experience i highly doubt that and will be putting it to the test to see if that rumor is true....if you want a fairly good laptop that can get the job done this is it!!!!

Great machine with some foibles
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL:DR Hardcore gaming, not really All around secure machine good for casual gaming and great for business work; YES If you are looking for an all around computer this is it. Its fast, capable, and does all the office functions very well. So, when I use it to create lesson plans, videos, slides its awesome. But you are not here to know how it goes as a working computer, you want to know about games. Well, the 5G with a 5G router awesome speed, it has 6 G capacity but I do not have that router. The cooling excellent, you can play with it on your lap and not feel any real heat but its LOUD! One of my kids commented on that and they always say what they think. The screen is awesome. So speed, ability, resolution is great. If you are looking for a casual gaming machine that will do other things this your computer because here come the foibles. The keyboard is a little flat for typing. The mouse pad regularly gets confused with two fingers on it much more than expected. As you are already aware, no web cam. But besides that its an awesome machine. If you were only gaming, I would recommend build a desktop If you want this for portable gaming get a mouse because the pad sucks. If you want this for an all around high level upgrade to do business and play this is it. Just know, you want a mouse and a web cam, and maybe a keyboard if you type alot. TL:DR Hardcore gaming, not really All around secure machine good for casual gaming and great for business work; YES

Before you buy!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.when i ordered this laptop there were yet to be any reviews and i could only go off of youtube reviews. this is a very well built (assembled) laptop however aside from the processer there are some big cons to this device. 1- this has a 1660 ti max q which most laptops have but isnt specified here. 2-battery life is very inconsistent. you can web browse on silent mode and get maybe 4-5 hours up time, and in the same day take the laptop off the charger (100%) and shut it down (not to be confused with sleeping) and battery is dead to where it wont boot after 6-8 hours. 3- this display is very color inaccurate. you cant tell when you buy this online but the 144hz display is the lower display config you can get on this laptop and it shows. screen is super blue and can not reproduce colors like purple nor can it separate colors orange/red very well. this is an issue when I'm creating wiring diagrams. there are some great pros though 1- keyboard feels on par or even better than my surface laptop 3 feels which is one of my current favorites. 2- key backlighting is even unlike the g14 3-palmrests are deep enough for your palms to actually rest on, it doesnt feel like your palms are getting cut by the edge of laptop. 4-4800HS is all that and a bag of chips faster than my lenovo w 9750H 5- trackpad actually is great compared to some ultrabooks offerings 6-where display lacks in color it makes up for in nits. 7-programming all kinds of alarm panels and IP systems the I/O on this thing is a welcome sight. no ethernet dongle and i can actually have a mouse receiver plugged in and still have free USB ports so i dont have to break out another dongle if you are fine with the short falls of this device i dont see why you wouldnt enjoy this laptop. if youre fine mostly leaving this thing on a desk and only play games then i think this laptop would be perfect. however this is not a great all around work/play setup as it seems on paper

Posted .Dear jdhinds,
I'm sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the display and battery life of your laptop. That is certainly not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. We do not recommend running the machine until it dies, that will decrease your battery's lifespan. I will forward your positive and negative feedback, as well as the 1660ti Max-Q specification to the Product team for review. If you have any general or technical questions, please email me at [email protected] and include case #N200500868 for reference.
Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Phenomenal Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rarely write reviews for anything, but this is an exception. This laptop is phenomenal. I was skeptical at first seeing no reviews for this laptop when I purchased it. I didn't expect Best Buy of all places to have it. But they had it, and I immediately ordered it. Best Buy had it to me within four days, and I have to give them compliments for speedy shipping during these crazy times we live in. Thank you Best Buy! Onto the actual machine, it is unbelievable. The 1TB SSD drive is snappy. This machine takes ten seconds to boot (I timed it, and I was blown away by how quick it was). I came from a 9 year old MacBook Pro, and what a difference it makes going from a hard drive based machine to an SSD machine. The ram is suitable for my needs (gaming and photo editing/graphic design). The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q graphics card has handled everything I've thrown at it with incredible ease and beauty. It is a 6 gigbyte card, so you'll get High-Ultra High settings on nearly all big titles out today. For example: Assassins Creed Odyssey on a mixture of High and Ultra settings, I saw an average of 55-60fps, which is very playable (it runs and looks better than a PS4!). The fan runs a little loud during gaming, but it is expected for a laptop. The other thing about this laptop that appealed to me: it doesn't look like every other gaming laptop on the market. It actually looks like a business oriented laptop. Sure, it has the ASUS ROG branding on it, but it's very low key. It doesn't scream "HEY! I'M A GAMER!" when you look at it (looking at you, Alienware and MSI). It's a simple and professional looking appearance. The brushed black appearance looks awesome in person. My only complaint about this finish is that it collects smudges quite quickly. But it's nothing a quick wipedown with a cloth wipe can't fix. In summary, if you're looking for a fantastic gaming laptop for under $1700, look no further. The ROG Zephyrus has pleasantly surprised me. TL;DR: This laptop is awesome. If you're looking to spend under $1700 and not skimp out on performance, this is the machine for you.

Wonderful as a game/work combo for a grad student
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone headed off to graduate school, I wanted to find a laptop that I could do all of my work on efficiently while also having enough power for me to have an enjoyable gaming experience. My last laptop was almost 5 years old by the time I bought this one, and it was heavy and hard to carry around campus. This laptop, by comparison, is much lighter and thinner, making it highly portable. The keys are also very nice and I am not disliking them at all like I thought I would. They are actually rather comfortable to type with and game with. Regarding working, I am having a wonderfully smooth time in any programs I open up. I can perform my research operations with ease. The laptop has performed wonderfully and has never crashed or had any software issues. I greatly enjoy the ASUS ARMOURY CRATE that allows me to control how I want my computer to be running (whether I want it to be quite, perform generally well for video games, or even more which I have not needed to use). The silent mode is wonderful, it's like the computer isn't even on. The backlighting of the keyboard is also pleasant. For gaming, I have been playing Borderlands 3 at the default settings when they are set to medium in the game, which makes some of the graphic settings set to high. The game runs wonderfully, especially on the Performance setting. I put a cap on the FPS and only allowed it to go up to 80, at which it runs beautifully. I know I could go higher and have even more frames, but I do not need more, let alone 80. I am not much into competitive gaming so I cannot speak to that, but for single-player FPS games that can be high-intensity, this is a very nice computer for that purpose. I did read other reviews prior to purchasing that said a cooling pad will probably be necessary and I can say that while on performance mode with capped 80FPS at medium/high graphics, my temperature reached about 85C for most of the time, though I did have one instance where it reached 91C but I believe this was due to my blocking of the fans on the bottom of the laptop. If I wanted it cooler I definitely could have put the computer into turbo mode or I would buy a cooling pad, but I did not feel this was necessary for the time being. I will probably buy a cooling pad eventually. I also read some reviews that discussed a coil whine and I have only experienced this when running above 60FPS on medium/high graphics while in performance mode. In silent mode, there is no coil whine at all and I can get about 30-40FPS in my game if it does bug me. When I press down the W key it actually goes away, so while I'm walking in the game I cannot hear it. If you have headphones in you won't hear it. The computer fans are noticeably louder in performance mode, but nothing that is really bad. It does make it so I would advise headphones, but it does not make for an unpleasant experience. Overall, this is a great laptop for my purposes as both a work computer and a gaming laptop wherein I do not competitively game. If I was going to super-competitively game I would just build a PC or get a higher-end laptop, but I just want to play high-intensity single-player games at more than 20FPS and ow graphics, and so far I am highly satisfied.

Good laptop when it works. It doesn't work often.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes for this laptop, but there has been nothing but issues since I've had it. It is great to use when it works, but dealing with issues more often than not. First the positives. The chassis feels good, and the keyboard is nice to type on. The hinges seem to be good quality and you can easily open and close the laptop with one finger. The laptop performed well in the games I played (Call of Duty Modern Warfare), and it ran at reasonable temperatures. Neutral: As noted by many reviewers of this laptop, the screen is somewhat dim at max settings, but this shouldn't be a problem if you are indoors. Also, the screen shouldn't be used for any professional editing work as the colors are a bit dull. There is no webcam on this laptop, but may not be an issue. The laptop's fans are also loud when gaming, but that is to be expected. Here are the negatives. The battery stopped charging numerous times. On several occasions, I had do to perform a "power reset" by disconnecting the charger and holding down the power button for the battery to charge. Other times, the battery did not charge due to software issues. ASUS provided this as a solution, albeit a temporary one. The headphone jack also suddenly stopped working. It was not a software or driver issue. When contacted, ASUS said to just send in the laptop for repairs. I may have just received a lemon, but this has dissuaded me from buying ASUS laptops in the future. I rather just get a refund for the laptop than having to deal with this headache.

Powerful and Unstable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is so powerful without a question. It can do things so easy without hitting the peak. The build is solid and sexy. However, the laptop already crashed twice in the middle of work and had to hard restart. The display is sub par quality, but honestly I don't mind it. I am not a video or image editor. Also the arrow keys in keyboard is so akwardly small. If you can adjust to these small neglible mistakes, you'll enjoy this laptop

Surprisingly lightweight and quiet laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was very thin and lightweight. Fan speed is fully controllable through the ASUS app preinstalled, and even the loudest setting is as loud as a kitchen fan at loudest. I had to return mine as it was faulty and the fan would occassionally start clicking/ rattling around but overall it did not run too hot and the screen is fantastic. Keyboard is backlit but not customizable.

Q: QuestionIs it VR Ready? of False Advertisement? Mostly because I kept getting that Bluescreen having to restart the laptop after trying VR a few minutes in
Asked by Agitokazu.
- A:Answer I'll answer my own question for others to see and read about, In fact this Laptop Plays VR games very well on High settings, but if you're on Oculus Quest, the Oculus Link does not support this laptop as of the moment. You can however use your Oculus Quest through Virtual Desktop, and it plays those PCVR games Lag free ( ex: Half life Alyx wirelessly on high settings, no issues with Skyrim, or fallout 4, & Bone works plays great) So if your looking for a laptop on a budget, and have an Oculus Quest. This is the laptop to get, now gonna try and convince Oculus to get Oculus Link working. Since it works wirelessly with Virtual Desktop, so they have no excuse.
