Originally I was not going to by this game because I thought to myself, "Eh, it's just another Batman game. Who cares?" Then I heard all the buzz about how great it was and with there being a severe gaming drought at the time I figured I'd give it a try. Popped it in and I haven't been able to put it down! This is hands down the best Batman game ever made! Even if you're not a Batman fan though, you can still really get into this game because it's a ton of fun!
The graphics and the whole dark feel of the game is great. The characters are VERY well developed both graphically and vocally with the great voice talent. The MANY extras you can find as you play add another layer of challenges that will keep working your brain. And yes, Batman has his core gadgets in this game and they are great! The combat system could be tweeked a bit more, but the variety of stylish takedowns are insane! I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. All I'm trying to say is GET THIS GAME! You won't regret it.

This is a very unique game. You don't just go around and beat everyone. If you have seen recent batman movies, that is the type of experience you will get playing this game.
It has element of stealth, use of cool gadgets and awesome takedowns. And graphics.... JUST WOW. I don't even have to convince anybody one that. Plus, I also liked the story. The only setback I see, you have to like Batman and the way he takes care of business to like this game.
Briefly,
Pros.
-Awesome Graphics.
-Great story
-A true Batman game
-Great gadgets
-Love the stealth elements
-Awesome Batman bosses
-Decent duration (especially if you go after Riddler's puzzles)
-variety of gameplay(stealth, fights, puzzles, gadgets etc)
-A great experience overall
Cons
-You have to be a Batman fan to enjoy the game to its true extent
-Beating the thugs can get a bit redundant
A must buy

The story and the graphics all feel as if they could have been a sequel to TDK. Joker's perma-white here and voiced by the amazing Mark Hamill. If there is another definitive version of the character besides Ledger, its Hamill's vocal work. The build-up to the confrontations, the atmosphere of the asylum, the puzzles and clues to the ghostly presence in the asylum are all very well written and much better than what's coming out of the comics or most of the animated films recently. Once you've played the game through, go into challenge mode and learn the more specialized moves that have Bats dispatching hoods in the most painful ways. It would be impossible for anyone loaded down in the Bat-armor to move this way, but who cares? One issue is they don't allow you to play as the Joker in the straight game version, you have to hook up on-line, and I personally don't have the technical advanced CPU to deal with it. My only disappointment.

Hands-down the best comics hero-based video game so far. From the visual details to gameplay, there is non comparable to its genre (or sub-genre). It's like playing a whole Batman movie and directing each and every scene there is in the game. Well, I say that coz of the excellent cinematics and dialogue lines(not too cheesy) that adds to the excitement of playing the game. I'm 70% midway through the game and 20 more Riddler stuffs to go and I'm loving it.
One of the downsides is boss fight. It seems like it's too easy to go through and some are repetitive and that makes it sort of boring to play over and over again. I don't mind going through a lot of "armed thugs" as long as they offer me more challenge as I role-play Batman. And speaking of armed thugs, detective mode comes in OVERLY handy that it makes the game so easy at times. Hard-core gamers shouldn't dare try use it to be worthy of being called "hardcore" gamers lol. I sometimes dont even use it to make the game a little harder.
All in all, gameplay is really fun and it's so cool knocking down thugs with combo moves to go with it's amazing cinematics. I definitely recommend Arkham Asylum.

I'm not really a gamer, I'm 33 and have 2 kids so don't have too much time to play, but this game kept me hooked and I finished it in about 5 days with 90% since I did almost all the riddles (I'm 238 out of 240). I played at normal level, but I think it was too easy, I'll have to try the hard one. I'm not very good fighting since I don't know how to do great combos, but anyway I won all fights in a few tries. The only dissapointments about the game were the lack of multiplayer online game and The Joker boss stage at the end, I couldn't believe they made such an easy stage for the last boss. But the game is GREAT, the gameplay is amazing, specially when you have to play stealth games to kill several bad guys in a room. I think this game is good to play a few times and then sell it since it doesn't have a multiplayer online mode. If the game had an online mode it would have been awesome cause it would have brought new challenges everytime, but they failed to do that and that's why once you finish it you are not compelled to play it all over again.

Wow!!!
From the voices to the graphics, to the gameplay and storyline!
This game is simply amazing! I normally don't purchase games without online play, but when I played the demo, I was blown away! I've played it for about 10 hours total time and I'm only 11% done! There's so much to do! It seems confusing to some at first with use of gadgets and controls, but you get the hang of it quickly. I also like how the creators used the 90's cartoon version of the batman, but with a more dark and hardcore side to him. I love how everything is dark and twisted like it ought to be...I'm surprised they made this teen rated with all the things said in this game! But you cannot deny that this is the best RPG of the year and maybe in the top ten of all time!! Trust me, as a hardcore gamer, you will not be disappointed!

This game has it all! The story-line and flow of the game is impeccable. There have been so many jaw-dropping moments that I lost count after the second mission. We've all waited a long time for this game and it did not disappoint one bit. Playing as the Joker has been a trip too. Seriously the game is flawless; it is legit in every way and gives you an experience the comics and movies (except for BB and TDK) could ever give you. It MUST be experienced if you're a Batman fan! It definitely makes you feel like you're Batman the whole time and you use detective work and strategy to solve every mystery and attack every foe. The combat system is the best I've ever seen to date in an RPG. It is a dream come true.

I have been following this game for months now all I can say about it is WOW this might possibly be the best Batman game to ever be made. The combat system in very responsive and fun since you can use the combo multiplyer and reversals to counter your enemies attacks and I am definitely getting this game but the collector's edition of course with the 14" inch batterrang that is included. This game will be worth the money and above all just play fun to beat up the bad guys. I was hoping to get the game in June but they have pushed the game back to a September release date to polish up the gameplay and I can't wait the graphics are just awesome of course it will look way better on the PS3 sorry Xbox owners upconverting this game just isn't the as good as real high definition on bluray. I would give the game a 9.5 out 10 even before seeing the finished game lol..
