- A:Answer Thank you for your interest. The cutting assembly is behind the cover, which is opened and lowered before use. After lifting the piercing lever, tip the can so the rim is under the locating post. Lower the piercing lever, ensuring that the blade is inside the rim of the can. The hands-free feature means the lever does not need to be held down, and the can opener stops automatically.
