I purchased this lens hood for use with my Canon 18-55mm lens. The hood fits any 58mm lens screw mount. The pros of this hood is that it is a good value for the money. The package also includes a lens cap (if you need another one.) The con of the lens is that is a screw mount -- that is, you screw it into the lens threads. I had two issues with it. First, the lens slightly "clipped" my image when I was zoomed all the way out to my 18mm setting. It's not much, but it is annoying. (See image lower right hand corner) I solved this issue by rotating the lens hood. However, rotating the lens hood is tricky because it is a screw mount and it is hard to tell if you are rotating the hood or simply unscrewing it. In contrast, I have a genuine Canon hood (for about $25 more than what what I paid for this lens. The genuine Canon hood is a bayonet mount on the outside of the lens and clicks securely into place. It is much easier to attach and detach than this lens hood -- for the Canon hood you depress a small lever and twist. Bottom line, if you are a casual photographer with a "normal" 35-50mm lens, this is a good value -- But I wish that I would have invested in a higher quality product.

Screw Adapter Not Needed For Nikkor Lens

Although it is not stated in the description, this tulip hood can be mounted directly to a Nikkor lens that has a bayonet fitting for a hood. The screw adapter is not needed. This is because the tulip hood attaches to its screw adapter using a bayonet fitting, so that the hood can be reversed for storage on the lens. Just twist and remove the hood from the screw adapter and attach it directly to the Nikkor lens using the usual twist and click motion. I bought this hood to use with a Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4.5-6.3G (non-VR) lens that I acquired 'for free' when I purchase a Nikon D5500. This hood fits perfectly with no vignetting. And it is half the price of the HB-77 hood that Nikon sells for this lens.

Works alright. Attaches to camera if you remove the jamb ring. Jamb ring is too thick and it won't fit on the camera, securely, if you do not remove the jamb ring. Without the jamb ring, it tends to lock out at angles that are not optimal (sometimes). It works ok, but not as depicted on the packaging. Not too disappointed as it was cheap, and makes a good hand rest that doesn't block the shots. Your hand will do more to block the sun, but this makes sure you don't take pictures of your hand.

This hood is about a third the price of the Canon hood and about a third of the usefulness. The hood is so shallow that it doesn't do much of anything to block out direct light sources or to prevent glare. It attaches to most lenses via the filter threads. The hood comes with a 2-piece plastic filter thread mount adapter which the hood with then twist onto, via a bayonet-style motion. Cheap, but not really sure its worth the lower price.

It's OK if you don't mind your lens hood being a "screw-mount". I didn't pay enough attention when I purchased, and would not have bought one that had to be threaded onto the filter. I mounted it to a polarizing filter a week ago, screwed it on too tight, and, as the polarizer rotates, nearly couldn't take it off. Also not recommended with anything wider than 35mm. I use it on my Canon 18-135, and it vignettes at short zoom (28mm), however, I realize it's just not designed to be used on a wide zoom.

This lens hood is cheap plastic and is not worth the $10 purchase price. The mounting mechanism (screw-on) is cumbersome and does not provide for a precise fit on the lens. Normally a $10 product would not elicit a review but in this case don't skimp and I would highly recommend purchasing the genuine canon lens hood instead. It is also made of plastic but it fits the 58 mm lens MUCH better and as a result will hold up better to numerous mounting/dismounting.

Purchased this camera for a vacation trip. Took over 2000 amazing photos with only minor issues keeping focus. Takes quite a bit of study to use the camera to it's full potential. I did have an issue with the flip out monitor sensor that displayed all images upside down. I was told it was a defective sensor that requires repair. Purchased the Best Buy additional warranty and will be returning the unit for another.

This lens hood is exceptional...its capable of withstanding the camera falling face down...Wooo, that’s not what I bought it for, Right? However it does more than expected. It really provides the a natural balance of light and clarity while taking photos in bright sunlight. Great product and very sturdy. Yes, definitely would buy again.
