Breville - Refurbished Programmable Espresso Machine - Stainless-Steel

...and, despite some hessitation surrounding the purchase of a refurb unit, the unit arrived promptly, as advertised, and works great! Note - the unit does not come with the E.S.E. pod adapter - but those can be ordered directly from Breville USA. All other accessories listed did indeed come - including the pitcher and tamping tool. The E.S.E. Pod adapter was not listed, so therefore this was expected. Since I hadn't yet received the pod adapter, I opened up a filter pack, and tried my 1st cup - perfect! I'm a bit spoiled, as I have a fully automatic Saeco unit at the Cape which grinds the beans, etc. But - the taste of this unit is excellent - I'm currently using some espresso grinds from Naples. The noise is actually less than I expected for a pump unit. The 1st cup came out fine - I'm anxious to try the pod adapter. I've read various complaints about how peculiar this unit may seem to operate to some, but without even reading the quick-start or manual, I was able to brew a great 1st cup. As for the rating - The frother also works well, so I'll note that this product is a very useful product in general. As for the durability - too soon to tell - but the unit is well constructed. The unit was indeed a refurb - not a new unit in a refurb box. But - the unit was packed well, clean and a bargain for the price. Also - watch-out for the difference between generic coffee pods - like for Senseo - and specific E.S.E pods - as they are different. I've read some of the lengths some take to make a common pod work in an E.S.S device... not worth the bother perhaps. If you are looking at this unit, and are a bit concerned about being a refurb - don't. Regardless, the unit comes with a 90-day refurb warranty - so, enjoy! If you are looking for a great bargain on a good espresso maker - this is it.

I own a few Breville appliances and the espresso machine is of the same quality of the other appliances I have. It's reliable, easy to use and clean and makes great espresso.
