    Synopsis

    Death Wish 3
Michael Winner ups the ante once again in Death Wish 3. Any pretense of Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) having a career in architecture is completely gone. Kersey's new career appears to be as a professional vigilante, blowing away muggers, rapists and thieves off the mean streets -- or as he terms it "thinning the herd." Back in New York City, Kersey, with his usual luck, arrives just in time to find an old friend dying after a vicious beating by a multi-cultural gang of thugs. The cops arrest Kersey, but it just so happens that police chief Richard S. Shriker (Ed Lauter) is like Kersey with a badge: "I'm the law, and that means I get to violate your civil rights." He makes a deal with Kersey: he can go free as long as he keeps the cops informed of his death counts. Kersey grunts in agreement and proceeds to move into a decaying tenement building in the middle of a bombed out gang war zone. The building is populated by a group of elderly tenants who are terrified by the neighborhood gang warfare. Kersey declares his own personal war on the neighborhood gang, led by a frenzied leader named Fraker (Gavan O'Herilhy), who wears a reverse Mohawk hair-style. As Kersey devises booby traps and trip-wire bombs to confound the gang, the senior citizens gleefully take pot shots at the wounded gang members from their windows. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

    Death Wish 2
Paul Kersey's (Charles Bronson) self-appointed one-man vigilante squad goes bi-coastal in Michael Winner's sequel to his Death Wish. Kersey has taken up residence in Los Angeles, but lunatic violence follows him across the country like toilet paper sticking to his shoe. Kersey's Spanish cook is immediately gang-banged and killed, while his daughter, still suffering from a catatonic stupor after her brutal rape in the first film, finds herself raped yet again. Vincent Gardenia as New York detective Frank Ochoa, reprises his role from the first film here -- traveling to Los Angeles to locate Kersey but finding death waiting for him off a LA freeway ramp. After all this mayhem, Kersey cannot cringe in hiding for long, and once again he loads up his tube socks with rolls of quarters and goes hoodlum hunting. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

    Death Wish 4: The Crackdown
Charles Bronson, weary and comatose, is trotted out again as the cocked crusader Paul Kersey in Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. Director Michael Winner has jumped ship for this installment, replaced by J. Lee Thompson (who has seen better days). Kersey is back in L.A. and dating attractive reporter Karen Sheldon (Kay Lenz). Of course, the clock is ticking, and the gong goes off when Karen's daughter overdoses on crack. Before you can say "kaboom" the drug dealer, along with a large cast of bit players, are blown to bits by the single-minded vigilante. An enterprising publisher whose own daughter has died from a drug overdose hires Kersey to wipe out the city's two rival drug dealers and their legions of flunkies. Kersey has no trouble agreeing, and using the technique limned in Yojimbo, he methodically eliminates gang members, first from one side and then the other, until one gang's paranoia about the other gang causes the two competitors to engage in a major confrontation that impacts both groups. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Not the Death Wish set as it's the "Bronson Triple Threat Collection" as the original Death Wish movie is missing from this set. Really? That would have added another $5 to this, maybe?? AND missing Death Wish 5??? That would have been ten cents more. Tops. The series got cheesier and more violent as Bronson got older and the studio's felt audiences needed to be wooed with more as the mid 80s gave way to bigger budget action stars. Charles Bronson was 61 when he made Death Wish II in 1982 and his real wife at the time, Jill Ireland, played his onscreen love interest. Tragically, everyone who gets close to Paul Kersey dies, sets off a Korean War vet's vengeance and blood lust. Unfortunately, as the series went on, the production values and budget dropped, B-listers were co-stars until you didn't recognize who any of the actors were. I have Death Wish, but where in the heck am I going to find Death Wish 5, just to say I have the complete series that 20th Century Fox decided to leave the last and least movie out of this collection? Seeing these movies in HD was a pleasant treat as I saw most of these in the theater and have them on DVD. Bronson is one of my favorite original tough guys.

I decided to purchase the three movies pack because of the price and because of the movies that were included in the package. Of course because it was in the blu-ray formatformat. These are movies that I saw when I was younger much, much younger and I just had not seen them for a long long time, so I decided to purchase them rather than rent so I could view them when I wished. It was fun to see Charles Bronson in action again and to view these movies that were produced so very long ago with the issues at that time, still relevant in our country today.

This is a very entertaining dvd collection The set contains the Death Wish movies made in the 1980s 2 ,3 & 4. Charles Bronson was huge box office star during the 70's and 80's and a fan favorite. The collection is nicely packaged and features some great music from Jimmy Page. These are some of the best action films ever made. The directors Michael Winner and Lee J Thompson are superb. The sale price at Best Buy made this a must have. Blue Ray makes all the more enjoyable.

These are the sequels to the original Death Wish starring Charles Bronson. He is an architect that has to get revenge on criminals and unjust people that harm other everyday citizens. He is moved to become a vigilante after personal tragedy... Instead of letting the police handle it and get no where.. He takes justice into his own hands. Great soundtracks and action films.

Excellent value, 3 movies for the price of 1. This was bought as an upgrade to the DVD's I already have. I have not watched these movies yet so I can not comment on their quality. I have already upgraded Death Wish 1 but have not seen Death Wish 5 available on Blu Ray yet. I would like to have the complete set. I hope they don't do to this series as they did to the Dirty Harry series, redo all but the last one.

Even though the original is not present, this is a great collection nonetheless. From the satisfaction of Kersey finding his nemeses in Death Wish II (something that didn’t happen in the first), to the undeniably great ending to Death Wish III and the propaganda of Death Wish IV. This series has always been enjoyable and I’m glad to finally own them all.

While not the best example of Bronson's action flicks, you can't go wrong with 3 Death Wish singles for such a low price. The lack of extras also reflects the low price. If you've read "Bronson's Loose! The Making of the Death Wish Films" by Paul Talbot, these films are even better!

the Death Wish franchise is a lovely little 80s time capsule. If you like The Punisher, you'll love Death Wish. I took off a star for them not including parts 1 & 5, but parts 2, 3, & 4 are the best ones anyway, especially part 3. It's like a Rambo movie set on the streets of NYC.
